This is a very busy place. We were served quickly but we were underwhelmed by the avocado Benedict. It was dry and needed seasoning. Food is good, nothing special. Tuna was way to full of mayonnaise making for a soggy messy sandwich. Good portions for the price. Staff is pleasant enough, but no one moves too fast even when busy. Wish I could give a review of their food but we never got seated. Party of 7, told 20 min wait, totally perfect, but it wasn't even close to that. We waited an hour and watched several small parties get seated ahead of us (a party of 3 sat at a table for 6). They never offered to split us up to seat us sooner. When I asked if we could split up to sit sooner, they said it would still be another 20-30 mins (after already waiting an hour). I understand waits are just an estimate but this was completely wrong. So after an hour and 15 mins we just left - we would've done that from the beginning if they had been honest about the wait times. read more

Went there for a breakfast on a Monday morning, 30 minute wait which was expected for that time of year. Coffee was way too strong and tasted bitter/burnt. Pancakes were over cooked and tasted too sweet. Server and staff were good, they did end up taking those items off the bill. read more

Stopped by Ricks for the first time , had been there when it was Nancys. Gave our name and was told there was a wait, there were tables open but figured there might be a staffing shortage so we waited. We were seated after 15 min, and given menus. Waitress returned after some time and asked if we wanted to order drinks. We told her we were ready to order which seemed to startle her. She took our order, but did not write it down. She came back after a bit to verify what I had ordered. It took quite awhile for our food to come out, don't know what the delay was but people who were seated and ordered after us got their food before us. We ordered blueberry pancakes for my wife, they were good, the side of sausage that came with it was very overcooked. I had ordered a burger cooked medium, it was cooked past medium but not bad that would make me send it back. The waitress never returned to asked if we wanted drink refills, we didn't see her until we were just about finished, we asked for a to go box for the leftover pancakes. At this point I wanted to pay and leave, we waited 15more minutes (I timed it), which included asking another employee to get our bill which never arrived. We got up and went to the front desk and asked again for our bill , was asked to wait again for our waitress who finally came and printed one out. After I paid and was signing the bill there still wasn't anyone to take it from us, left it on the register and left. Can deal with short staff and some mistakes, but this was a collection of poor service all around for us. Food was ok , not memorable. Plenty of places to try other than here read more

We live just around the corner from Rick's and love to grab a weekend or holiday breakfast here. Their wait staff are always friendly (and over the past 8 months have been very COVID conscious), attentive and quick! While we don't know what winter will bring for outdoor seating, during the summer and fall, they had plenty of tables just outside the front door for distanced open air seating. While seating outside is right next to a Cumberland Farms service station, it really doesn't impact the dining experience (not too noisy and zero fuel smells) and is always where we opt to sit. Just waited over 20 minutes for a table after asking if there was a long wait. I was told there was no wait. The restaurant was less than half full. Only 2 tables were occupied in the dining room by the time we walked out. To add insult to injury, several parties walked in and went to directly to the counter and were served immediately. We happen upon Ricks Blue Jay Cafe this week and were very impressed! Service was outstanding, ambiance was clean and casual. We had lunch sandwiches: grilled cheese and a BLT, both were very good but my favorite were the rosemary fries! Will definitely go back next time we are in beautiful York! read more

We had no idea everything was closing for the season when we arrived in town. It seemed this was the only place open. It was closing night. $100 for a fried seafood platter, out of French fries so they added axtra seafood. No big deal . $40. The chowder was ok. And a basic burger we asked for the rice because they were out of fries. They never came. But 2 more cups of chowder came. Ok but way over priced. My wife and I have been coming to York for years. This is our favorite breakfast spot. It's a gem! You can expect hot homemade food, jam and a coffee cup that doesn't empty. They have an interesting mix of menu options ranging from local to southwestern. They even had house made pork green chili ( we live in Denver and it's a staple item there) the waitstaff is fantastic! Very nice our orders came out correctly and together and we didn't have to ask for anything because it was all on our table. A lot of places have good breakfast food, what makes this place stand out to me and keeps me coming back ( every morning we're in town) is the charm. It's very charming! Laid back, great food very kind and hard working staff. I can't think of anything else you would want. I recommend the blueberry pancakes with warm maple syrup. I don't give 5 star reviews often, I really try to be honest when I write these. I'm giving Rick's 5 stars because there isn't anything I think they could do better and I am impressed with there consistency every time I go. I know what I'm going to get. Great job! The food was absolutely delicious. We've been in York for a week and this was the first restaurant we've been to that had great tasting food. I had the huevos rancheros with a side of hot sauce and my husband had the corned beef Benedict and we finished all of them bc they we're fresh and tasty. They are kid friendly with a good kids menu. My son loved the green eggs and ham breakfast themed after Doctor Seuss. Tables are spaced far apart and the staff are masked and super friendly. read more

First time at Rick's today. Sat down and waited 30 minutes for a cup of coffee. I asked for milk she brought cream. I had to ask her 3 more times before she brought the milk. A party of people came in 25 minutes after us and got their coffee right away from our waitress who was very rude. The blueberry pancakes were gross. Will not go back there. read more

Food was great, but I could have done without the egg shell in my benedict. The tall waitress with glasses was not very pleasant AT ALL!! We asked for straws for our three drinks, and she only brought one. And we asked for extra napkins, and she only brought one and ran away. The table next to us got seated, and they told her that one more was coming, and that the needed three menus, and she said to just share. She was efficient, but not friendly at all. Such a funky place! Inside is way cooler and more inviting than the outside so don't judge this book by it's cover. Great options, tasty coffee, delicious food, drinks in mason jars, quick service, fair prices. 2 points of improvement would be our server wasn't very personable (she did her job, just definitely didn't go beyond that) and also maybe add if items on your menu are gluten free or not. It's such a common question to get now - might as well note it in advance! My friend is gluten free and she ordered the pork green chili not expecting a chili to have been made with flour. Quite the disappointment when she received the dish and couldn't eat it. read more

First off this place is still open. I guess it's under new ownership as of last month. I consider myself a foodie and regularly visit fine dining restaurants all over the world. Bottom line is this was the best breakfast I've had in memory. The quality of the food was outstanding. I had a county benedict which was an open faced biscuit with sausage, poached eggs, and some sausage gravy. The biscuit tasted freshly baked, the sausage was fresh sausage, not a frozen patty. My only complaint was the poached eggs did not have a runny yolk. Next time I will specify that. The breakfast potatoes at this restaurant were INCREDIBLE. They are smashed red bliss potatoes that are grilled and lightly seasoned. I could eat them every day. We could not stop raving to each other about how good the breakfast was. If this place is as good the next time we try it I will have found a new favorite breakfast place bar none. read more

The food was to die for. I got pancakes, scrambled eggs, potatoes and bacon. Everything tasted home made in the sense you made things from scratch at home. Very cute atmosphere and each table had cute, unique salt and peppers shakers. My table had two little pigs. The parking was easy and there were plenty of spots to choose from. Had a great time here. Very cool atmosphere, even though it's slightly underground and in a brick building, the lighting makes the resteraunt warm and inviting. Good coffee to start. The menu offered lots of choices that all looked appetizing. We settled on one salmon arugula benny's and an omelette with goat cheese, spinach, bacon, and carmelized onions. My omelet was delicious; the spread if the ingredients was good. I had a little something in every bit. The salmon was a little salty, but nothing inedible beyond that. The restaurant has an electric decor and pulls it off with a cool hipster vibe. Food was pretty blah, I only had sausage and eggs so admittedly plain Jane on my end. My friend though got the corned beef hash and it was legit. Food was a little expensive for what we got though. A side of bacon for 3 bucks with only two strips of bacon was a tough pill to swallow for a cheapo like me. The restaurant is clearly a tourist trap and that's cool they have there place. read more
