Overall the experience was a very solid 4, I will say we had a fairly complex install with custom made gates (wood and metal), Specrail fence, a custom pedestrian gate, two GTO gate operators / motor and a double-sided security pad for the pedestrian gate. We also had to deal with a heavily pitched driveway that ended up providing a bit of challenge but the team pulled it off. We had an estimate provided back in late October / early November and was told it would take at least 6-8 weeks to fabricate the custom gates. They were pretty close, it took an extra week due to a part that was sourced from across the US. Once they had all the parts, it was time for the team to come out and begin the install process. The team consisted of Tony and Travis, they are very hard working guys who really wanted to ensure everything went well. We did make a last minute change to the design which was fine, as the final project turned out better than what we came up with during the estimation process. It took the guys about two days to install everything then we had to wait about a week for the gate posts to set, this is due to the weight of the gates (about 400lbs each). Once set, the guys came back out to adjust the operators. Due to the constant rain we've received this winter we will have to wait for the guys to come back out to stain the wood. But even in the cedar's natural state it still looks great. We've had people stop almost daily to inspect, inquire and admire their work. The one criticism I had, which has since been resolved is that their Project Manager is spread too thin, he's working on what appears to be too many projects at one time and there was a bit of miss communication in the early part of the install project but then things improved towards the end. My advice to their management team, hire more project managers. read more

Appreciation all around from the quality of the product, the quick completion of the job (360 ft fence) in 3 days and professional customer service. The two man team--Francisco and Art--were exceptional and professional! Francisco was experienced in the installation and understood what corrections needed to be made and always asked before proceeding. Both Francisco and Art worked as a team and this showed in the end results. They both worked together to help my one neighbor who has three dogs feel heard and allowed him to be present when they replaced that side of the fence. They ensured him it would be done in one day to limit the dogs being barred from that part of the yard for too long. Way to help me 'truly mend fences' and keep the peace! The tear down and removal of my old worn out cedar fence went quickly and the clean up was done well. This fence is the one and done to last the remainder of my lifetime and hopefully into the next owners enjoyment. Really like the look of the vinyl fence as it has an appearance of wood and blends well with the other wood fences in the neighbor. No complaints or regrets....Job Well Done!!!! Was an investment but remember it was 360 feet of fencing and signed up when they were having a sale on their product. Knowing I won't have to replace this in my lifetime brings me much satisfaction. The front of the house is the first thing visitors see. Ricks built our new front porch from the ground up. No frills, but very nice. Have had compliments from the neighbors - who were probably tired of looking at the cheap makeshift installation that has been there since before we moved in 18 years ago. The design consultant, Cheney, helped up come up with a design that would fit the space. Within the month, Scott, the installer came out and singlehandedly gave us a beautiful new front porch. Now with composite decking that will never have to been treated or stained. It really added something. Rick's is not inexpensive, but they do excellent work. I would give Scott a 5 for the workmanship. He even fixed the fascia board on a small deck that Rick's had done for us several years ago in the back of the house. They do stand by their guarantees. All we had to do was point out the problem and it was fixed by the time Scott was done with the porch. Chaney spent quite a bit of time designing the project. When it didn't quite fit as hoped, the design was changed to something that would work and still looks very nice. I highly recommend Rick's for quality, customer service and especially Scott for the excellent attention to detail on our project. read more

I have lost track of the number of times I have hired Rick's Custom Fence and Decking for various projects over a 20-year time span. I come back because they are skilled, reliable, and professional. We lost 3 mature trees last year to disease in our backyard and, rather than replacing them and waiting for them to grow to filter the sun over our patio, we decided to ask the crew from Rick's to build a new cedar 3-tier pergola for shade. Riley, Dustin, and Steve were our crew for this project and they arrived as promised, spent two days building an absolutely beautiful structure, and left the area clean and spotless. They were easy to work with and responsive to questions. Rick's always hires the best and these young men were very skilled. The pergola is absolutely beautiful! I am happy to know that Rick's has a business that operates from the Tri-Cities area so we can hire them to build something similar at our retirement home near there. My husband and I decided to get our outdoor space in top working order with our tax return. We wanted the not-built-to-code mini deck removed and a two level deck put in. we also wanted fencing around the yard to prevent our kids from escaping when in the back. I can't tell you how astounded my husband and I were to have our deck so beautifully restored! We have lived in many states and in each have dealt with many builders, and/or renovators, and vendor. From beginning to end, this was a good experience. I am not even sure where to begin. Cody killed with a great reasonable estimate. He was quick, honest, fair, and very responsive through this whole process. Kyle and Connor showed up early yesterday morning (I expected them at 8:30, they were there at 8:10! I love that!) Exceptional Work! I contacted Rick's Custom Fencing for a bid to replace a portion of a fence that had come down. After getting multiple bids, they were so reasonable. I chose them because they were so knowledgeable about what type of product that would work and stand the test of time. They gave me examples of why some products would/would not work for the area. I would like to acknowledge Steve & Bruce who did the work (In extremely harsh weather!) They showed up when they said they would and were ready to go. They took the time to protect the surrounding grass and shrubs. You could tell while they were working how professional and skilled, they were in their craft. When stopping for the day, the area was very clean and they explained what steps were needed to complete the project the next day. The crew from Rick's Custom Fencing and Decking (Gresham Office) did an outstanding job extending a fence line previously installed by Rick's about 18 months earlier. Paul and Orlando showed up on time and listened to my concerns and expectations as we discussed the job. The job site was on a sloped hill and required several longer posts and deeper post holes. There were numerous larger boulders that had to be removed by hand. Despite the chilly temperatures, rain and muddy work area, both men completed the job professionally without complaining about the conditions. They were cordial and polite during our discussions and checked in before leaving the completed installation to make sure I was satisfied with the finished project. All extra fence material, packaging and paper were collected leaving my backyard as they found it. I will definitely ask for these two whenever I have Rick's do more work for me. Recently replaced the fence between myself and my neighbor to the North - It was time and several of the posts were about to fall. It was approximately 60 feet of good-neighbor fence. The initial bid was right before the Covid-19 pandemic began. Rick's Custom Fencing & Decking were great at keeping us informed about next steps. While we all struggled with the months of confusion, Ricks's called to schedule. They arrived and fully prepared in PPE to get the job done. The team of PAUL & TYLER D worked through the day until they were finished, myself and neighbor were satisfied and Paul & Tyler left both yards better than before! While the installation was being done there was a small incident to the neighbors sprinkling system, but the team from Ricks Custom Fencing & Decking were out the next the day to repair. Our experience with Ricks was excellent in every way. Our sales representative Carl was great in explaining our options and in answering our many questions. We had an approximately 12' x 30' Tigerwood deck built and it always gets compliments from everyone who sees it. Scott Meeker was our excellent crew manager overseeing the project. He was able to keep us informed and answer any questions or concerns. Scott was on the job site each day. Scott and his crew members did a nice job and didn't waste any time. Remove and replace existing good neighbor fence with lattice trim on the top. Prep for the job involved removal of the original wood posts replaced by black steel posts and a different style of lattice. The original fence was installed by Rick's in 2000. Andrew M. & Pedro P. arrived at 8am and left at 4pm both days that they were on site. They worked very efficiently and seamlessly together. The ground that the fence covers is not exactly level. They had to-measure and level all sections of the fencing as it was installed to get the straight line that we wanted. Both days they cleaned the work site before leaving. I should also mention I enjoyed working with Dan on the design. Our neighbors love the new fence as do we. Rick's is wonderful. From the day the two estimators came out, to the day they finished the job we couldn't be happier. We had a second estimate done, but the guarantee and the product were not nearly as good as the first estimate. We live on the water and had our entire deck, plus a large swim float, re-decked. It is much more difficult working on the water than on land and they were amazing. Tony, Kris and Todd were there every day for 7 days, and when they finished you wouldn't have known they'd been there. They scooped all debris that dropped into the water out, they spray washed the new deck on the last day and they didn't leave anything that we didn't own, for us to clean up. Anthony & Saul came last week to start our installation of our fence; my wife and I couldn't be happier especially the way both of them worked - yes it was in those 85's degree days and they stayed late each day to make sure they stayed on their schedule for getting the work accomplished! Couldn't be happier with the quality of the install and with the speed and skill of Travis & Jason when doing the install. Ricks isn't the cheapest bid on the market, but not the most expensive either. All things considered, they were the best because they have good service, a superior product, great sales materials that show exactly what you will get, and great technicians. They worked all day in typical February Oregon weather and had the job done right away. With 5X5 posts and cedar slats, the fence should stand the test of wet mossy Oregon. Thanks guys. This review is focused on the builders and the final product! I reached out to get a fence done. We had an idea of what we wanted. The whole plan had changed when speaking with the salesman. When the builders got on site, the new plan wasn't going to work AT ALL, for what we had said we wanted. They knew what we wanted and what they could do to make happen though. Their boss was very helpful working through all the issues too. Jesse and Tyler did an amazing job, worked rain or shine to complete the project for us. They let us know about things before they did them to make sure we were good with it. I can't say enough how much they worked with integrity and pride. From design to completion this was a fabulous experience. We wanted a new custom upper level deck. They took our vision, provided great suggestions and it turned out better than we hoped for. They met with us on our schedule and were more than accommodating for our particular needs and desires. The construction started sooner than estimated. The installers, Scott and David, arrived on time every day, were beyond courteous, and finished right on schedule even with a pouring rain delay. Everyone was very professional - from Steve B. who came out provided options and acceptable pricing, to the installers. The installers were Marshal B. and Andrew M. They arrived on time, were very polite and amiable, discussed just what was wanted/expected, and their procedure for accomplishing the project. From sales to installation I was impressed and very satisfied with my experience regarding new fencing which was installed recently by Rick's Custom Fencing & Decking. The salesman, Dan, was amicable and very knowledgeable showing me the various types of fencing material that I was considering for my project.
