I just had major work done here after a hard collision with a truck in an intersection. I picked my RAV4 up on Friday and it looked exactly like it had before the accident. By "major" I mean almost the entire front passenger side had to be replaced: fenders, door, wheel, suspension, and painting.
From the moment I had my car dropped off there, Dan, the man in charge, walked me through everything that was going to happen - repair-wise and working with the insurance. Every step of the way he updated me with emails and phone calls: when he would be ordering the parts, when they arrived, what new estimates were on newly discovered damage, updated completion times, and ultimately, when I could get my car.
He explained the process of repairing the car extremely well and even let me know the specifications that Toyota required for a full, legit repair. Everything down to scanning and resetting sensitive electronics and their sensors.
The first time I met Dan was when I picked my car up and he seemed and acted like a gentleman and an honest man. I mean, look at what he did to help the community out ( http://www.fox28.com/story/26491933/2014/09/09/south-bend-auto-shop-gives-second-chance-to-more-than-just-cars ).
I went to Rick's Auto Body on the advice of my neighbor who works with cars. I've never had anything more than brakes being changed on my car (I work on my own cars, and well...the time the brakes got changed, it was cold outside!), but you can tell that Dan and his crew are very thorough and, dare I say, almost perfectionists. Great quality in mechanics! His thoroughness led to the discovery that my passenger side steering knuckle was cracked - something that is hard to tell due to Toyota putting coverings on pretty much everything ever in their cars (terrible to service, but great for aesthetics!)
Why send your car to the place your insurance provider recommends when you can send it to a place that has been in South Bend for 4 DECADES. DECADES PEOPLE, DECADES. That's a testament to a business doing something right.
I have nothing against any other shops, as this is my first major visit to a mechanic, but I will recommend this place to everybody I know that is looking to have car work done. And, since you're reading this, you should call Rick's ASAP! read more
