Love this place, donuts and kolaches hit the spot after visiting family on way to NOLA.

My family and I swung in here for donuts this morning. All baked goods were executed to perfection. It was busy as you'd expect on a Saturday morning. The owners were there overseeing operations. They were friendly and very gracious. My daughter loved the inflatable sharks they displayed, I assume because it's shark week. The kolaches were dynamite. We also got donut holes, 2 glazed, and 3 blueberry cake donuts. All were fantastic. I highly recommend Rickey Meche's Donut King. They do it right. read more

The donuts were incredibly fresh, soft and full of flavor without being overly sweet. There was a great selection to choose from, and everything looked tempting. The staff greeted everyone with a smile and kept the line moving quickly. It;s easy to see why this place has so many loyal customers, and I'll definitely be back for another dozen. read more

At The original Meche's i stopped in for supplies for a morning meeting with 27 attending. What a donut factory, friendly and efficient AND delicious ! I purchased 30 kolaches and 3 dozen glazed donuts. The kolaches were the big hit (i sampled the ham and cheese - delicious ) as they were gone in 10 minutes! Donuts were also great, fresh airy and crispy ! If your gonna have a glazed donut that's the way you want it No pictures- we ate them all read more

Amazing. I eat here every time I am in town. Love the eclair donut with cream cheese filling. Service is fast and friendly. It's great!!!

Oh Lord I love Meches! King cakes are great! But the donuts. Well we just don't get donuts like these in Tennessee!

The most overrated business/donut in this area. And don't get me started on the "king cake". IT'S NOT A KING CAKE. It's just donut with Mardi Gras sprinkles on it. Whomever invented actually king cake should sue Meche's because they shouldn't be allowed to call it a king cake. If you want a real, authentic king cake try Great Harvest Bread Co. or something because what Meche's makes is honestly just a donut. It's a joke and they should be ashamed of themselves. And the donuts are sub par at best. read more

Great donuts and service. Amazing selection. I also like the lighting in there. It reminds me of my house in a weird way.

Wow! Growing up in New Orleans, I've had my fill of King Cake and am rarely impressed, but Meche's did just that. It's a donut shop so there's no frills, but between the service, made sure I knew what my potions were as well as extra wrapping as I was traveling with the King Cake, and the King Cake itself, it was a treat, plus the price was very reasonable. Should you find yourself in Lafayette during Carnival time, do yourself a favor and stop in for a treat. read more

A family fun donut shop. They make a variety of king cakes. Plus if you lucky and they have some unfilled one you might be able to get one made to order. Service was quick and friendly. They ensured every customer was greeted their needs for filled. read more

Meche's has some amazing donuts. I thought KK was beat until I had these original glaze donuts that melted in my mouth! My mouth instantly watered from the smell of the donuts. The staff member we interacted with kept getting our order wrong but we eventually got what we needed. I strongly advise you to go early so you can get all the goodies that they offer. We wanted a boudin kolache but they were all sold out of them all. I can't wait to return to Meche's the next time I'm in the area! read more

Best donuts (on Guilbeau Road) in Lafayette and Louisiana and I've eaten at all of the places around here. Always frying donuts thru the morning hours, because they sell so many. If you want hot and fresh donuts with a great flavor and so many choices, then this is the place for you. read more

The donuts always come out fresh and hot but today I went in and one of the workers I think her name was Amanda. She like she had and attitude giving me my doughnuts I don't know if she was just having a bad day but still, you don't have attitude towards a customers, but it was pretty good though the donuts came out hot and fresh and they were quick read more

I am only giving three stars because this place has the cutest decorated donuts for every holiday! However, today I went in and got the cutest Easter donuts, and I was so excited to bring them home and put them out for the Easter party until I open the box and noticed she had crammed 11 big donuts into a medium sized box! And skimmed me on one out of the dozen! This is the final product! read more

"Open" at four but full menu isn't available for order until 5 or after, other locations are great and fully stocked by open tho

These donuts are soooo good! And the staff is as good as the donuts! Heaven for donut lovers!

I have not been on site to Meches. But, I have ordered King Cakes two years in a row. Their cakes are exceptional. Bavarian creme has been my choice. I shared a piece with a friend who makes gourmet cookies that she sells. Her response, " this is the best cake I have ever eaten". So I cannot say enough how good those cakes are. Not so good for the hips. The only downside is the shipping. It costs more to ship than the cake. But they are excellent and survive shipping well. Can't wait till next year!! read more

Best donut holes I've EVER eaten in my life!! Very nice workers and great customer service. I'd be in some serious trouble if this place was in Austin, TX! YOLO---go getcha some if your in Lafayette! read more

Incredible, amazing, life-changing and spectacular are all words I would use to describe this place. I drive over an hour to get here twice a year to get king cakes from them. They're my favorite king cakes in the whole state of Louisiana! I love how they're deep fried with great texture and the icing is perfect! My favorite is the chocolate filled king cake! Their donuts are also so good! Always hot and fresh and they melt in your mouth! The service is fantastic and they are so kind and nice! They have a large selection of donuts and kolaches and more! I highly recommend! read more

The Best hands down in Lafayette La I love there king cakes and you can order them by UPS Store and sent anywhere in the US .

My coworkers loved it! They said it's the best king cake ever. I think I might be the weird one bc I was not a fan at all. I need my king cakes to taste like king cake. This was a donut king cake and i just didn't find it to be good at all and the texture was a little too tough for me. read more

Many years have passed since our Shipping Etc. troubles. Meche's doesn't seem to use them anymore, and we've our last order arrived on schedule and intact. Thank you, Meche's, for fixing your shipping issues!!! King cakes are still amazing, as always. Word to the wise: Never get the light filling. You're cheating yourself if you do. read more

I have always loved these donuts and being from out of town was so excited to be back here and have my kids try them. They would have been amazing if they hadn't smushed them all together in a tiny box ruining the frosting. They were a sloppy mess and we couldn't even eat them. Please use bigger boxes and keep your quality Meches!!! read more

Rickey Meche's Donut King - a dozen donuts in a box - Donuts Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

I am from Houston and I am counting thr days (drooling) till I return for another king cake.

The best donut shop around! A must stop if you are in Lafayette. The donut holes are spectacular and they definitely give you more than you order which is awesome. The regular donuts are also wonderful and very tasty. If you visit, you have to try the shredded chicken kolache or the smoked sausage and jalapeño kolache as they are to die for. If you are there during Mardi Gras, stop in for delicious King Cake as well as Meche's does an amazing job. read more

had a nice visit with the service and all was well. then they left my donut holes out of my order after up charging a dollar for using my card. very frustrating way to start my day. read more

Always great here. I got great customer service and the boudin kolache was awesome. The pepper Jack cheese goes great with the boudin they have. I'll continue coming here anytime I'm in Lafayette. read more

The best king cake I have had in a long time. The raspberry cream cheese was amazing. A little tip, pop a slice in the microwave for about 20 seconds and thank me later. read more

They may have good donuts, but their king cakes are the best! My last visit here, my husband and I picked up a couple of pre-made king cakes to share at the office. Their king cakes come in two sizes...big and bigger. We got two of the smaller ones that were half and half fillings. One was half chocolate and half bavarian cream; the other was half chocolate and half raspberry cream cheese. Both were good, but the raspberry cream cheese part knocked my socks off! Surprisingly, the chocolate was my least favorite. I was hoping it would be creamy and pudding-like, like the bavarian cream, but it's more like an icing. Not bad, of course, just not what I was expecting. They cost us $43 for two, with tax. But these king cakes totally triumphed over the previous store bought king cakes we've had here in the office in Texas; receiving raves from multiple people. You want the best king cake? Get it from here. read more

We were introduced to Meche's during our first Mardi Gras experience 2 years ago, it was the first King Cake we had ever had. After a week in Lafayette and New Orleans, we had tried a few different cakes. Meche's was our favorite. Since we couldn't get down south this year, we threw a Mardi Gras party up here and ordered our favorite King Cake from Meche's. They shipped it to arrive the day before the party, it was sealed perfectly, and tasted super fresh. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it, no one at our party had ever had a King Cake before and everyone loved it. read more

Went completely out of my way to come here even called to make sure they would be open after seeing everyone say they close before there bis hours. After doing all of this I get there 4 hours ahead of before they close and they have nothing to buy I don't understand why they never have anything very disappointing. read more

Best donut I have ever had in my life highly recommend. Prices were cheap. Highly recommend for true Louisiana experience.

Used to be my favorite and only place I would ever buy a king cake. I moved states so I had it shipped this year and was extremely disappointed. I checked extra filling and there was hardly any filling whatsoever in it. It was very dry and not worth the money. Sad they even gave extra filling as an option only to totally ignore it. Wont buy again because of how dry it was with so little filling. read more

Their king cakes are unbelievably yummy. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by choices, everything taste fresh and sweet. Feel sorry for the diabetics ... read more

Absolutely just straight up GOOD. King Cake season here is where it's at and it can be extremely busy and I can see why. The King Cakes are moist, flavorful and never too sweet. Outside of King Cake season, the kolaches and filled donuts are a hit. Kolaches are always filled with plenty of cheese and whatever you may have chosen plus it's always super fresh and hot when it is served. The donuts are also a hit and again not overly sweet. Other selection vary from any kind of donut and treat offered at any donut joint plus more. The prices are very affordable and I can easily see myself making Meches a part of my breakfast routine every now and then. I cannot think of anything that I dislike here because every visit has been a great one. read more

Packed on the weekend the donuts always fresh, however the breading is so thick. Friendly staff, I would recommend placing tags on the glass counter to help the customers prior to purchase: read more

After a sad meal down the road from these guys, we stopped to pick up donuts for the family. Meche's is new to us. We soon found out why they are a Lafayette favorite. Service was quick and friendly. Our order could have been a bit confusing, but our server nailed it with a smile. We were in and out in 5 minutes and the donuts were delicious. In addition to great donuts, they also offer breakfast biscuits, kolaches and other breakfast items. Great LOCAL spot doing a brisk business! read more

This is the best and only place to get donuts. They are so fluffy and taste better than any other donut place in or around Lafayette. They have a good variety and they do what they are doing. Don't go to any other locations, just come to this one, trust me, this place has it down packed and there is nothing like a hot fresh donut from the Original Meche's. read more

I'd give this 5 stars but this place just makes me lose myself in the weight category. Meaning I'll just eat one after the other not giving a care in the world. Why must donuts be so good yet so bad for you? Everytime I think of Meche's Donuts, brings me to Sunday mornings with warm, just out the fryer, grease on the box, donuts and a tall glass of Borden's milk (that's the milk we have there is Loosy-Ana). I'll tell you, these are not your typical Krispy Kreme donuts, these bad boys you have to eat them the day of because I don't find them any good afterwards. Besides, who eats day old donuts anyway? Don't get me started on the King Cakes. I believe they start taking orders in January for these suckas. They also can ship them out to you, in which I had 2 shipped out last year when i was living in Vegas. These things are so moist and gooey from start to finish. They have a variety of fillings ranging from, strawberry to blueberry, and cream cheese to bavarian cream. Just make sure you pop it in the microwave for a couple seconds, pour yourself a tall glass of milk, and get out some napkins, for best results. Can't wait to get my hands on one this year. Everyone in Lafayette knows about Meche's Donut King, so if you're an out of towner and ever in the area do stop in and get yo' self a couple donuts or even a King Cake if the season is right. read more

I was super jonesin' for a kolache and trusty Yelp pointed me in the direction of Menche's. I was insanely disappointed to find out that we had arrived too late for kolaches (they stop serving them at 1pm); however, I was then able to justify purchasing a highly raved about king cake as crisis control. The king cakes are all perched up on shelves with flavors clearly marked on the boxes. I snatched up a strawberry and cream cheese mini for the reasonable price of $11 and change. Don't be fooled by the word "mini," that buster was a heavy little cake. I was not about to tear into my king cake treasure while still at the shop and I had manage my grumpy kolacheless tummy so Hubby and I ordered a cream cheese filled donut with chocolate icing, a custard filled donut with chocolate icing (because I had to compare which one I liked better, right?), and a maple frosted donut. The donuts were okay, the filled ones were massively oozy and awesome because of it. I like my donuts to have a little tiny bit of crisp to them, but if you had read any of my other donut reviews, it is not news that I am a picky b**** when it comes to texture. Overall, these donuts are great, but I have had better. I brought the king cake home and shared it with some friends. Being a Louisiana transplant and having only experienced a few king cake seasons, I am by NO means a legitimate source of king cake criticism. My Louisiana grown friends, however, certified that Meche's strawberry cream cheese filled king cake is LEGIT. They gobbled that beast up and were moaning and then needed to smoke. I agree, it was pretty phenomenal. The cake was moist and dense, not the dry sponge I have experienced from inferior shops. And the fillings were absolutely gushing. One friend kept commenting "oh look at all this glorious cream cheese... just LOOK at how much there is." Donuts scored alright, but the king cake takes the win. read more
