Very delicious donuts! Glad I gave this place a shot!…read more I am a native Breaux Bridgian, and when I come to town, I'm so used to seeing Meche's Donut King. It was a staple in my childhood and it was hard to watch it go, but I finally gave the new guys a chance, and the donuts were amazing! They were hot, super soft, and the staff was friendly! There's parking out front and both indoor and outdoor seating if you want to dine in. I love what they've done to the interior. The blue really sets it off on the inside and outside! The place was very clean and again, the donuts are delicious! I brought extras back home and they got the stamp of approval from everyone. Looking forward to having them again next time I'm in town. I can't say they fully replace that old taste I miss, but they come super close!

That said, I'm sorry, I was hoping I'd love this place as most of the locals do but it's a no for me. I have to say, the moment you walked in, you knew you were in a bonafide bakery: the smell was intoxicating. The ladies were extremely friendly and attentive. The donuts in the casing were absolutely beautiful as were the king cakes and the glazed donuts were really soft and tasty, so that's a plus. However, those stuffed sausage and cheesy things....no,no,no,no,no,no,no (FLAVA-LESS). Ya know, it's really hard not to get good flavor from pork. I mean, it's used as a seasoning in many dishes so, I'm confused. Also, the cheese didn't melt thoroughly as there was a huge chunk of white cheese sticking out on one side and the other side had sausage and egg. Just curious as to why they're on separate sides of the bun and not conjoined in the middle? Asking for a friend lol. I'm only traveling through and 3 stars are generous IMO. I wish you all much success!
