This is more of an in and out service you get your doughnuts and roll on. We were looking for beignets and they had something similar and was less than $1 really can't complain. Place does look run down but I wouldn't question their ability. Over all 4 out of 5 read more

Meche's Donut King - A beignet not 100% tho - Donuts Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

They got rid of the best beignets I've ever had. They beat Cafe du Monde in New Orleans. Now they are gone, now they are three tiny quarter sized things now. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK, I only had it once, it was better than Chantilky cake. I don't care if they're cold, quantity over quality here. Please bring back the giant pillow I loved so much! read more

My mom's favorite place to get king cakes. Great employees. always fresh. quick service

I stopped in this morning 9/4/26 as I do most mornings and when I stop I walk into the store and sometimes I see children in there sometimes I see elderly. This morning I show up and one of the workers, black lady wearing a black shirt with black-and-white spandex, along with a thinner, black male wearing all black standing outside the front door and instantly start coughing. Then she goes inside (she is an employee ) as I approach, he goes to his black Chevy truck and the overwhelming smell of marijuana hits me like a wall. Total disregard for anyone especially customers. I get it that we all have bad habits but stand at the entrance of a prominent business and smoke your marijuana ???? go in the back or in your vehicle or somewhere else just because you have a vice not everyone else wants to smell your problem. I will not eat at a place that has this type of activity because who knows what could happen. read more

Love the donuts, the staff is friendly, but they don't answer the phone. This is my second week trying to get in contact with them to order a "King Cake". I live out of town. I would hate to drive there and not able to leave with a "King Cake". read more

Why haven't I dropped in for donuts at Meche's? I don't have an answer. But, I will certainly return. Warm donuts at 9:30am on a Saturday morning? Yes! Yes, I say. Upon arrival to Meche's there's an incredibly Long line in the drive thru. So I decided to walk in. Service was friendly. There were 2 folks in front of me. The line moved quickly. Shortly afterwards 4 others walked into the bakery. Lady behind me said she comes for the delicious kolaches. One other mentions he comes frequently for the plain glazed donuts, warm, buttery, and melts in your mouth. My plain glazed donut was light and fluffy, warm and melts away. Really delicious! I must agree with the other frequent visitor. Well said. Just yummy, fresh, warm donuts. Hubs loves chocolate glazed donuts and chocolate milk. He is a lover of all things chocolate. read more

I stop here every time I am passing through Lafayette. It is very convenient to the I-10. People are always friendly and the donuts are fresh and the best. I love anything filled with cream cheese here. Really everything is good. You can't go wrong. But I've tried to stop on a weekend and the line was a block long. Another time they were sold out. That's a testament to how good this place is. read more

Meche's Donut King - Another great donut stop - Donuts Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

Drove almost 4 hours from Houston to come try out the cream cheese donuts, on the way here popped a tire by the time I got here it was 11:13 which should be fine says they close at 12. Tried to open the door only to realize it was closed early :( sad trip back to Houston. read more

We were visiting from California and Meche's is the place to go for hot and fresh donuts. We ordered one dozen original and they were handed through the drive through window hot and fresh! The drive through line went rather quickly. After reading all of the reviews, it looks like I need to order a King Cake from them as well! read more

Meche's Donut King - a cup of coffee - Donuts Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

Meshes is the best donut shop in Acadiana. Well. Maybe. But it's definitely an icon. Gotta try it!

I am in love! Seriously! I am a donut lover to begin with. This place has funny and charming staff. Good coffee, but the donuts!!!!! OMG!!! Had some warm! I had a cream filled 'long John'. I asked it it were filled, and the reply was, "yes, like an eclaire but fried". I can die happy. read more

This location is cool, but in a different way from the Rue Louis location. While Rue Louis is spare and industrial, Willow is old house cozy. But the donuts are just as good. Catch them early in the morning right out of the fryer still warm from the fat. Oh wow...these are good! read more

The staff is not friendly. I suggest going to Guilbeau Rd location for a much more pleasant experience

Oh, my! All other donut shops eat your heart out! These donuts are huge. Much bigger than even the ones I grew up with. They are filled so full the outside starts to split. Fruits, chocolates, glazed, covered, oh yummy! The chocolate is not your typical chocolate filling. It is so creamy, almost like cake icing but better. So big I couldn't even finish the one I got. They ship king cakes too! The staff there is so friendly and joyful! Laughter and smiles abound. IMO this place is a must if you are in Lafayette, LA read more

We stopped on the way to a job site to pick up some donuts. My husband had never had these and I had. He went in to order two dozen donuts. They were straight out of the glaze and hot. He was pleasantly surprised at the size of the sugary confection. We could only eat a couple before we were full. The job superintendent was excited to get his morning surprise when he noticed that they were still warm. read more

We just received a large Meche's King Cake delivered by UPS to our office here in Emeryville, CA. It's one of the best I've had. We received a 50-50: chocolate and Bavarian Crème. Yes, it's fried and I think that's what makes it so addicting. Happy Mardi Gras, y'all! read more

I've loved Meche's King Cake since I lived in Lafayette in the mid-90s. I haven't lived there in almost 20 years, so I took advantage of my short trip today to pick one up. The customer service was outstanding! The guy working went above and beyond to help me out! I couldn't believe it! Just another reason to keep singing the praises of Meche's! read more

Nope. This is not what donuts are supposed to be. Bready, heavy, overly sweet and lacking in flavor all at the same time? Ugh. Surprised this chain gets such high marks. We ended up throwing away most of what we got. Maybe it's just a taste preference, but it's hard to screw up a glazed donut, and these guys totally did it. One star for the check-out girl, who was a doll. Otherwise, just nope. read more

Amazing!! Worth the trip!! But the customer service was what made it 5 stars. The lady gave us samples to try since we were from out of town. Wish I got her name. read more

All the Meche's are different-- I used to only like Rickey Meche's on Guilbeau (the gold standard!), and felt especially unenthused about this branch (Willow st). BUT NOW! On a tip from a friend who inspects permitted businesses in our parish, I gave them another shot. They are under new management, and it shows. Speaking with the new owner, he says they are committed to doing everything the Rickey Meche's way, right down to the service. Tried the Ham and jalapeno kolaches- YES! Soft warm fluffy donuts- Perfect! Eyed a giant beautiful cinnabun but didnt dare eat it after demolishing the rest. If you've been "meh" about this location in the past, give it another try. I'm delighted to have a great Meche's on my side of town! read more

Their donuts are awesome. Specially early in the morning when they're just opening. This location is my go to Meches for donuts. I only wish they would get the turkey kolaches. That would make this place amazing. The staff here is always nice and friendly. read more

Their king cake is wonderful!! We had the caramel cream cheese filling, oh my goodness!!!! Love!!!

My wife and I were passing through, and spent the night in Lafayette. I checked Yelp for breakfast places near our hotel, and Meche's Donuts was just a few blocks away. We decided to give it a try, but there was a long line for the drive thru, and it was starting rain. We couldn't find a parking place to go in, so we decided to wait in the drive thru line. We found out why they were so busy. These were easily the best donuts we have ever had. I had the plain glazed, and my wife had chocolate glazed. Now, we are trying to find reasons to go back to Lafayette. read more

Bad attitude problem!!! Meche's is usually great, but the one on Willow has shown horrible service. From the instant they saw a customer they let it to be known I wasn't wanted. And when I had a question the young lady looked at me stupid, like I need to know everything already. I just left after because I felt like too much of a problem. read more

Whenever I'm in town, I can't leave without getting a dozen glazed! Always hot at fresh!

I don't know how they're still in business! They have a simple menu. Nothing special or even normal from other donut shops. Maple what? Meche's is a local donut shop that does good, Because locals don't know anything better. Sad. Oh in case you want to bring me to court, my name is Jamie Grames. Meche's is boring by donut standards! read more

After the third visit to the Willow Street location trying to get a cream cheese filled donut instead of some messy yellow colored grainy stuff they called cream cheese filling, I asked for one bavarian cream and one cream cheese to compare the two. They were both yellow and bavarian cream which I really don't like. They could have told me they were out of the cream cheese instead of sneakng the bavarian in my bag. The first two times I tried to buy a cream cheese filled and looked in the bag pointing out the filling was yellow and not white, the girl said it was definitely cream cheese filled but turned a little yellow because the donut was hot when filled. That filling was nasty and grainy where the sugar did not dissolve and definitely not cream cheese filling--not even smooth like bavarian cream supposed to be. What that grainy yellow filling was I do not know. So, I phoned Meche's and told them what happened and the woman did not sound surprised or concerned, just kept saying okay. This tells me this is standard policy there to serve inferior donuts (seconds) that should have been thrown out and that they don't care that you get what you ordered. The king cakes are really nasty, too. Better to go to a reputable baker for those. Avoid the Willow Street location at all costs or you will regret it. The quality of the donuts etc. is uneven, and they knowingly substitute other items and junk for what you order. I'm giving Meche's donuts for lent, and that will be much easier after my experiences at Willow Street Meche's Donuts. Yuck. read more
