I read one of the reviews that said they were surprised that a course built next to water would have so few water holes. Well, to me, water comes into play here frequently enough! Nice course. I am not a fan though of "lazy design" where I feel like budget or something created the inane contour of the hole. There are a few holes that have a hill you hit over as a blind shot, that could be worked better and not require a ranger to help spot balls. Nice course. Great staff. I think it's a fun hard fun golf course. A lot of holes that go out into very scenic views and a lot of angulation. 5th hole par 3 has to be my favorite par 3 and hole. The bunkers are in great shape as well. Have fresh sand in them and are soft. My only downside is I wish the greens were quicker. I understand you can't have them rolling all the time and low cause of pace of play and loss of the green but I wish they could roll consistently at a 10 read more

I would give this course zero stars if I could. The board should be humiliated by the childish, inappropriate and pathetic display of aggression. The course is undeniably wonderful but I witnessed the most disgusting display of behavior by none other then two board members of this club today. These members were yelling at an older pair of men who were playing ahead of them, hitting balls up on these people and yelling threats to fight them, on a goddamn golf course!! I play golf to relax, unwind and enjoy myself, not to be around childish behavior like this. I will never pay my hard earned money to play here again.. if I were those gentlemen I would have asked for my money back. The board should be humiliated by this is display and look upon themselves to make some changes. read more

I first played there only 3 weeks ago and I'm going to be playing my third round again this Sunday. I have to say I was pretty impressed with everything. From the people in the pro shop to the starters and rangers even before I had gotten out to the first tee was pleasant. Then walk out to the first hole tee box ,,, whaaat. I was taken back by how well groomed and the layout. Game on!!! On practically every hole I was taken back by the layout and the the condition of the course. Water water everywhere. But it doesn't come into play as often as you think a course built around a lake would be. 15th hole &16th hole could use a good hug. Kind of messy fairways on those two holes. The play was a lot of fun and challenging depending on your Handicap. I'm a 9+ and it plays fairly. Miss and you pay. And lay it out there and you'll be rewarded. Remember the most important shot in golf is your next shot! I've recommended playing this course to many people and I think you would too. The ranger came up to us and said hey guys. "Just so you know the blind hill plays right to left. " I'll go ahead and spot your drives". Uhhh what? Ding. Thumbs up! Everyone and I do mean everyone while we played there were hospitable , friendly and helpful. Even the beverage cart came around like 6 times. Unheard of. ! read more

Richter Park golf is always big talk golf with people in the area. Played It years ago. Played there last week, expecting Winged Foot north. All of the ball washers were put away for the year, they would have been helpful with the mud the ball was picking up. The guys in our group could not believe how many ball marks were left in every green we played. We were the second group out so lots of ball marks were left there from the previous day. We spent the entire round fixing the ball marks and the bunkers were not raked at all, we gave ourselves a free Drop of you landed in the bunker. It was as if everyone who hit a shot out of the bunker just walked out and kept playing. Our balls landed in Foot prints and big holes in the sand. I know it's the end of the season, But have someone rake the bunkers before play begins. Ball marks on The greens are inexcusable. read more

Awesome golf course! Fairways and greens are always in perfect condition! Very scenic - one of the best courses in CT! New management - always helpful and kind! If you only play a few times a year make sure you play Richter - tucked away, but worth the trip and greens fees - a wonderful experience! $80, really? This is a public course that is in decent shape on the front 9 with awful soggy conditions on the back. No range to warmup and a tiny pratice putting area. I played Crystal Springs in NJ on a sunday @ 2pm for $60 recently which includes a bucket of balls and the most challenging course I have ever played on, and it was in pristine condition with no wait! Richter Park is a joke, I can play at Whitney Farms in Monroe for $35 at 1:30pm today while Richter is $69! Whitney may not be as "scenic" but who cares....their course is never soggy and it wont rip your money out of your pocket. read more

The course layout heavily favors ball striking and accuracy over distance. I have never found the course to be extremely fun to play because of the numerous blind shots and narrow holes which tends to slow down the pace of play. I have played six hour rounds here in the past but my last round here wasn't too bad, we finished in about 4.5 hours on a Sunday AM. I have to give them credit, they had spotters on a few of the notoriously slow holes because of blind shots which helped a bit. The course conditions were slightly above average but it used to be in better shape years ago especially when you are paying $80 for a round. Some of the bunkers were a little beat up but the greens were pretty fast and rolled true. Overall the course isn't bad, its just a little pricey in my opinion. read more

SHAME ON MANAGEMENT!!! I played this beautiful and in very good condition loop on Sunday at 1pm! The staff from the girl in the pro-shop for check-in to starter, cart girl and especially rangers were very friendly and professional. My only complaint was the 5hr and 20min pace of play which was caused by management booking a 40 +/- group (mostly men) for their own internal competition that tee'd off late morning up until my tee-time. By the 3rd tee box we had 3 foursomes stacked up on the tee-box waiting for the group in front to eventually clear the green. We were playing for 1hr 18 min before we finished the 3rd hole. The ranger did a great job trying to rectify ALL the problems or else it would have been a 6hr round! For 18 holes we were subjected to the group in front of us (and from what we know every golfer in this large group) insisting on playing from the tips and more often then not, not reaching the lady's tee box with their drives! This was followed by whiffed shots on the fairways and the slowest movements ever seen by man! We've all been there but for the sake of everyone else on the course it needs to be managed! The course was fully booked the entire afternoon behind us so everyone of those players was forced to spend their weekend afternoon enduring this same problem. Management, i appreciate that we all have a profit motivation but please consider the damage and pain you are inflicting on your loyal & regular players before doing this again (perhaps, like other clubs, book it on a week day or appreciate the consequences and forewarn your regulars as to what might be experienced!). read more

Decent course, expensive for Danbury (Greenwich public costs the same) but the worse thing are the other players- Most golfers are collegial; here no one says hello to one another, and even worse, we were yelled at very rudely by some old guy wearing a Diocese of Bridgeport pullover when there was just two of us and we were 20 minutes ahead of schedule, per the starter! He was rude and plain wrong. It proved to be a stressful day; never again and I hope that the management changes the culture. Also, it is annoying because they have workers constantly working on the course during play. read more

love this course. every hole is unique, very scenic with all the water views. people are extremely nice. price was little on the high side for non residents, but looks they have taken care of that this year as well. i have played lot of courses, this remains to be my favorite. read more
