The steak and dessert weren't so exceptional that I would discuss them, and that's why this isn't five stars. The pork belly appetizer was exceptional. It melted in my mouth better than any piece of bacon I have recently enjoyed. It sat on a bed of greens, with a sauce that matched it well. This is why I would come back if they would let me in the door. Keep in mind the place was huge and really nice, probably a great place to get married!

The club house is a little dated but not in disrepair. It's the television-world idea of a Connecticut country club. I could have used a little more hardwood and a little less carpeting, but it works for them. Our shower was out on the back porch. It was a little narrow to have those huge round tables, but, again, it worked - clearly this is something they've done before and they know how to set things up with a good flow. The staff were all friendly and very attentive to our needs. I can't speak of the mimosas, but I had a bellini and was very impressed; it's not often you find someone making bulk-mixed drinks with a good balance. The caprese salad was done very well although I always want more tomatoes. I had the salmon with mixed greens and it was gorgeous. Not too much seasoning or salad dressing, and it was cooked to perfection. We finished off with a white cake with fruit inside (not sure if it was from here or brought in) but it was also very good. All in all, it was a lovey visit. I wouldn't stop by just for giggles since it's a good hour and a half drive for me, but it's a great view if you can make it.

It's definitely a bit of a quirky layout, but given the 2 sets of tees, the course does a great job of making some interesting holes. The clubhouse staff were super nice and don't forget to ask for the course hole by hole cheat sheet - makes a huge difference on some blind holes. We loved it and with a time of play at 2 hours, we will be back.

Yes, it's the cute little golf course with the completely unprounounceable name…read more Pookie-dookie-donkey-kong Country Club (or whatever it's called) is a little 9-hole, par 34 affair in the hills of South Salem, a nice place for beginner golfers to take their game. It's quite cheap too, 18 holes for 25 dollars. Just one thing to watch out for: the crossovers. There are two fairways that cross eachother on this course, and four of the holes actually cross the main driveway that leads to the clubhouse! Just make sure no cars are coming when you take those critical shots. Hard not to have fun here. Make it interesting by playing the white tees the first time around, and the blues the second time around.
