And it did. I was subject to an initial greeting where my purpose for being there was verified and I took a number and got in line. In the middle of the afternoon, it was less than ten minutes before I was seen. Presenting my stuff, doing a couple of quick tests, and paying a pretty reasonable fee, I was out of there in probably less than half an hour total. Now, some people have more complicated situations, and some people clearly don't check out all the online resources before coming, but at least from my perspective it was a pretty smooth experience and the people working there seemed like they knew what they were doing.

Coming from NY, I found this to be astonishing because in NY, going to the DMV is a three to four hour ordeal. The process to get what you need starts off at one of the computer terminals where you enter. You fill out your necessary forms and you're given a number to be seen at the main counter. The whole process is very organized and painless. The info desk staff was very helpful in answering my questions and checking to make sure I had all the documentation I needed to transfer my license from another state. I would surely not hesitate to visit this location again if I require their services in the future.

I haven't been in here in about three years or so, and that was when I first got my Georgia driver's license (purely because my home state license expired, and I could not renew it online). This DDS is usually VERY crowded, and quite noisy as well. The way they do their system is kind of funky, and a little annoying, but if you can skate through on a weekday during everyone's normal working hours, you shouldn't be in there too long. I went a couple weeks ago on a Friday afternoon to get an endorsement added to my license, and it was fairly painless for the most part. The employees are definitely hit or miss, sometimes you get a super nice one and sometimes you get a... not so nice one. Either way, I make it a point to not go to this DDS, but it was the closest one to where I was at the moment, so I just decided to stop there.

I have had to visit this location on Mike Padgett Highway several times this year. When Nicole wrote her review I would agree with her. However they have added someone who asks while you wait in line "Why you are here?". This addition is incredibly valuable. In the past I have watched people wait in line only to be told they are not even in the right office or being told they need a document they don't have with them after waiting 1-2 hours. Since adding this person service has become highly valuable. Things stay moving even when fully loaded. Customers are much happier knowing their wait has been minimized even before they get to the counter. Also that person can direct customers to online features they can use while waiting in line. They have even added two computers terminals for this process and often people just start helping each other. So even that 80-90 year old grandma or grandpa can be assisted in a way that gets them through with a kind of speed I have never witnessed before. I used an online feature before coming in, that's right from home, got a number, sat down and was called in 5 minutes and helped in about 2 minutes. If they maintain this level of service I will raise the rating from a 4 star to a 5 star.

From a customer service perspective, there was a lot of complexity to getting the stuff I needed done, but given that I brought all the appropriate documents, I got the help I needed. I had to take a number, but it was not a long wait, and once I made it to a counter, I was permitted to handle everything I needed in terms of getting a license and a license plate without going back in line, which took several steps and various corrections to paperwork I had worked on. I was a bit leery of whether I would be able to get it done in one go, but I was able to get all my fees paid and walked out with a license printed on the spot (none of that temporary drivers license BS) and a license plate that I will eventually trade in for a special one with a sea turtle on it. This is not a fancy location (unlike North Augusta's local government building), but as government services go, they did a pretty good job.

When I initially called I spoke with a lady who told me that this course was a week long course and that I could pay extra to have the driving test administered there. That way at the end of the week my son would be able to get a drivers license if he passed. I thought..why not? I am thinking back to HS where you do both classroom and driving instruction each day. I tried to ask as many questions as I could, but the lady seemed put out that I was asking them and wasn't really forthcoming with anything other than answering what I asked. The week before my son was to attend, I was then told that no, the first week is instruction only and then you have to schedule to drive the following week. So I asked, this is a two week course instead of one? She told me it was 6 hours of driving, but it has to be scheduled, so more like an additional 2-3 days. On the day we drop my son off I am handed paperwork. I have to list all the days and times of availability for the next 6-8 weeks. What?! I was told a week, then a week and 6 hours.. now its 6-8 weeks before they can be scheduled to drive? The miscommunication is unbelievable. So unprofessional.

They wouldn't let her in for her clothes even though they were in dress code, but because her legs were still showing they were upset. They are very sexist when it comes to the dress code and only target the young girls. In class, my daughter would talk about the offensive jokes the instructor would make pertaining to either sexism or racism, and he made her uncomfortable. She also stated that the instructor often made students feel dumb, yelled at students, and even belittled teenagers who were not in the class and mocked them to the students calling them "idiots". They are extremely high and mighty, even though they have a 1.9/5 star review on yelp. It is surprising they haven't received the hint for the past 5+ years.
