I am so appalled from the lack of professionalism from this facility from both the dentist and his staff. This experience is from the daughter of someone who is not a fluent english speaker. Not speaking english in this town is not typical. What we have experienced here is not only medical negligence, but racism towards a non-english speaker for her inability to communicate as well.
I was not physically with my mom in person during these two encounters because I don't live in town. I do what I can by making sure I take care of her over the phone. I do this with mostly everything, and while it may be annoying for others, it is my mom's way of understanding those around her. A lot of facilities tolerate my phone translation very well and are patient in dealing with my mom's lack of english. This place, however, was not.
I found Dr. Ronneburg from google and chose him due to his positive reviews. My mom was scheduled for a root canal at the end of february. She went in for her appointment to find out her roots were calcified. My mom calls me so I can explain the situation to her, to which he was brief, rude, and told her to put away her phone. Then, he left the room with very little explanation of how long the temporary filling would last, etc. There was no mutual understanding or follow up explanation given to us and we felt unwelcomed and booted out. We got referred to an endodontist across the street for the calcified root canal.
I gave the last experience the benefit of the doubt and when my mom made up that she wanted a removal instead of the root canal, we call Ronneburg's office yet again. My younger sister went with her today due to my mom's subpar experience last time with the staff. However, she was not allowed in the back during the procedure. Today, my mom went in for an extraction and we were interested in exploring options for an implant in the near future and we wanted to discuss our options. When my mom told Richard she wanted to call me so we could better discuss our plan, he immediately became impatient. Again, that's ok, because we know it sometimes it is frustrating dealing with us. When we were connected, I explained to him and he said her work would be better handled by an oral surgeon, and then left the room again with no further explanation. Then, it was the same kick out procedure. As soon as we knew it, my mom was getting escorted to the front. Her and I were both still confused on what was happening. I then spoke to a nurse, who told me she and the dentist felt like they were going back and forth with us about the same matter and that during my mom's further appointments in the future I should be there in person.
My mom and I gave this facility the benefit of the doubt time and time again. At the end of the day, our takeaway was that he was annoyed my mom didn't speak english because I doubt he would treat any english speaking, able-to-write-a-review person this way. This is one of the worst treatments I have received from a "professional" facility being in America for 15 years. read more
