I had my first appointment today with Dr Silva and I am very pleased. The office was warm and comforting and smelled really good. He was kind and really took care of my needs. Ivy at the front desk was so sweet and made sure all my questions were answered. I will definitely be going back along with all my family! Thank you! read more

Ive been coming to this office for years and years and I love it here whenever I go in. Dr. Silva is always kind and tells me things very straight forward. He tells me exactly how it is and the office manager helps me figure out financial planning every time I ask. Ive had crowns done here and Ive never had someone before this where it didnt hurt a little for the prep appointment but I didnt even feel the injection here. The hygienist is very friendly and fun to talk to and I love seeing her each time. The front desk girls have changed over the years but theyre always so nice and very friendly and helpful every time I need to talk to them. Overall I love this office and Ill come here until I move or until Dr Silva retires. Whichever comes first read more

I went to Silva many years ago, but felt compelled to write about my experience once I read Ron P & Shelley T's reviews. I had a similar experience. While doing an initial (first time visit ever) exam...He flossed my teeth, stuck the floss under my nose and said (with a scolding tone) "do you smell that??" I wasn't sure what he was trying to say... I just nodded, he shook his head in disgust, making me feel like a child who was in trouble... When he was finished huffing and puffing, I left and never went back. read more

Dr Silva is a very kind and ethical dentist. He is gentle and willing to work with you regarding treatments and payments. I've been coming here for over 5 years now, and have always been pleased with the results. read more

I have NEVER had a more horrible experience in my life than with Richard Silva! First of all, I am a very trusting person by nature. When I became a first- time patient of this dentist, it was to repair a chipped tooth. I was immediately put through full mouth xrays. Then Silva laid out ALL that needed to be done to fix my mouth -- caps, caps and more caps!! After all was said and done that day, I told him -- "the quickest and easiest way to fix the chipped tooth..ONLY; that we would address the cap issue later". Long story short, he ignored my wishes and began literally tearing my mouth up (he actually drilled into my cheek and blamed me for supposedly "biting my cheek" -- while my mouth was wide open?? The pain was excruciating! I was in constant tears for months. My calls to his wife/office manager with complaints of the terrible pain, were dismissed with "keep taking ibuprofen". I was taking ibuprofen nonstop for 3 months! Silva's dental shenanigans caused such damage, I had to solicit the care of another local dentist to undergo a root canal with another being scheduled. He exhausted my dental insurance, so the cost was out of pocket. Also, another RED FLAG -- I was asked to sign a blank electronic pad on several occasions (their computer/printer was acting up) "just for the procedure being conducted that day". Later, the office claims I signed a contract for an additional 6 months of payments -- I signed no contract! We filed a grievance with our insurance company. Interestingly, our grievance was closed after Silva's office refused to submit to the insurance company our dental and payment records! read more

The ladies working reception and as the doctor's assistants were very kind and helpful. The dentist however was very rude and very unprofessional in his behavior. I found him to be argumentative, not listening to anything I said, and his hands shaking when he started to look inside my mouth. I've never "stormed out" of a doctor's office but in this instance, I'm never going back. read more

Very expensive. I was told by the office staff that they were a preferred provider for my insurance but that was a lie. I should have checked but trusted them. BIG MISTAKE. Dr. Silva said I needed several... SEVERAL fillings, root canals, and crowns. He said the same thing about my husband. We both had some work done after explaining that we needed to get the work done in increments to keep payment realistic. Yet after just a small amount of work each, we got nailed with a HUGE bill over $6,000. Yeah, they gave us Care Credit but it took us ages... several years... to pay it off. In the mean time, we quit going to him (or any dentist) because we couldn't afford it and had been totally BURNED. His wife/office manager Ivy would see us in public and act like we were their best friends. Um, hello... you and your husband are GOUGING us financially. They would call and try to get us to come back to their office... NO THANKS. We are going to a new dentist now and he's GREAT. Extremely reasonable prices and guess what? After 7 years of not being to a dentist, we miraculously do NOT need tons of dental work. Be warned and stay far away from Dr. Silva. read more

I really felt welcomed whenever I arrive for my appointments and everyone greets you with a smile. It's the little things that mean a lot and especially true when they ask me about something particular we spoke about on my last visit. However, having double (two insurance providers) coverage made their billing process charge the same amount to both providers. It was discouraging to get resolved and we eventually chose another office that better assisted our concerns. read more

His very kind staff said he had a bad day. I will never go back. It was my introductory appointment and I have never met anyone so negative and rude as Dr. Silva. He complained that I had food stuck in my teeth, after I had just eaten lunch. He told me to throw my sleep apnea dental appliance away. He told me every tooth either needed a filling or a crown, when my previous awesome dentist told me 8 months ago that everything was fine. I've never been bullied by a dentist before Dr. Silva. If he's looking for new patients, he lost this one. read more

I am exercising my First Amendment rights; this is my beliefs and opinions. I honestly wish I was writing about how great a dentist Richard Silva is. Richard Silva DDS is the worst dentist I have ever used. I have had Registered Dental Assistants fit crowns better than Richard Silva. My most honest advice: seek your dentistry elsewhere. If you are using him, I caution you to pay attention if he asks you "who gave you your teeth". And he says "god gave you your teeth and I'm not god." I advise you to take this as a warning. I wish I had. I now have the worst bite I have ever had. I bite my cheek and tongue quite frequently. I have to chew up and down. It is impossible to chew normally. I suggest you pay attention as to how long your teeth hurt after one of his procedures; and if other teeth soon start hurting. Remember; you've got to know when to hold em; know when to fold em; know when to walk away and know when to RUN!! (see Google Reviews) * 6/25/2018; Shelley T. was fortunate that she walked out before any real damage was done. Richard Silva is a bad day. If you have troubles with Silva on billing insist on written copies. If you used CareCredit, you can tell them your problems and they will help you. They sure did me. They are fantastic. If not, contact BBB and talk to them and see if you can file a complaint. They will work with you. Beware of ugly little demons, pillsbury dough girls, crisco lard girls, cleaning ladies and poison ivy. 10/27/18 After 2 years my teeth and bite are worse. One day, this office is going to learn, what goes round comes round. Who can you trust in Sonora for dentistry? read more

Overall have had a negative experience with this dentist. Though he will work out payment plans to some extent his fees are several times as much as other practitioners and I was admonished repeatedly for not coming in more/sooner to attend to issues (I'm a single parent without insurance and paying for care as able out of pocket. I can only do so much - its already frustrating and embarrassing without being lectured about it.) I was only offered very limited options regarding my care and scheduled several weeks out for emergent procedures that left me in the interim with additional damage and/or significant pain as well as cosmetic issues. They quoted me pricing in writing then denied doing so. They are very difficult to contact as they rarely answer the phone. I'd say my primary complaint is their jacked up pricing - as much as $3500 (and over two months) to replace a single tooth with a bridge. Some of the people are very caring and nice but it does not compensate for being delayed, admonished and price-gouged. I will never return and wish I'd never been. read more
