He saved me from getting four teeth extracted unnecessarily. I only truly needed one extraction for an implant. Instead, he performed osseous surgery (I wasn't a candidate for LANAP due to the advanced stage of my condition), and everything went incredibly well. I was sedated and didn't feel a thing. The level of professionalism, honesty, and skill here is unmatched. If you're looking for a periodontist not only in the Crofton area but in the DMV, Dr. Bruce is the one you want. Cutting away gum and grinding on bone to expose more of your teeth and then sewing up my gums caused me some concern but Dr. Joe Passaro, my prosthodontist assured me Dr. Mugford was great at these and many other dental procedures. I was pleasantly surprised that after localized numbing I didn't feel any pain during both procedures. For a day or so after each procedure I felt minimal soreness. My only issue was the heavy meds they prescribe as a matter of course. Another friend mentioned that too. I did not need the oxy pills and I never intended to take them, which I did not. The second time, I had gum grafting done. Again, during the surgery, Dr Di was very caring and professional. My follow up appointment was about six weeks later, and I still was having lots of discomfort and had another adjacent tooth that was numb. That was a very difficult appointment, not because of the doctor, but because of rough handling by the two assistants. I also have never regained normal feeling in the roof of my mouth (the donor tissue site), and it has now been over two years. I was told after the surgery it might take up to a year a year for the nerves to heal. I wish there had been more review of possible complications and negative potential outcomes before surgery. I don't recall seeing an informed consent form or discussing that with anyone on the team.

Fast forward, my wife and I moved to the Annapolis area a few years ago and we had to find all new doctors. Dr. Miele was recommended to my wife to do a complex procedure that should have been quite painful, but my wife told me that Dr. Miele performed magic, as her procedure was painless and perfect. Dr. Miele sets the bar to the top as an incredibly warm, compassionate and extremely professional doctor. I think the warm and compassionate traits are somewhat rare in the medical field, my wife and I are truly lucky to have found Dr. Miele. Now, to my procedure, magic! Yep, that's about all I can say. It was the second to the back, top tooth, close to my sinus and tricky to extract without any complications. Dr. Miele, again, demonstrated warmth and compassion, while being a top doctor in her field. These are a lot of words to say that my wife and I recommend Dr. Miele, if we could give 15 out of 10 starts we would. I get my appointments done every six months, and I used to get postcard reminders in the mail. Now, I get text message reminders and so far they have been flawless! They accept most of the popular insurance companies, and rescheduling is never a problem. Gary Ludka is the main doctor here, and the hygienist that always takes care of me is Angela. They are extremely friendly individuals, and they always ask how I am doing and make sure I have been taking care of myself. Angela holds fun conversation while cleaning and makes the experience much less of a bore. They tend to remember anything you tell them there, so you know they really do care. Routine cleanings typically take about an hour (depends on how well you take care of your teeth!) and you always leave with floss, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. I feel like my dental health has overall improved since my family switched to this dentistry. I would recommend it to anyone.

I had 2 (Maryland) bridges, one done by him and one done by another doctor years before. I recently had an emergency where my Maryland bridge done by the other doctor had came out. With my sisters wedding in 2 days I had called Dr Sfondouris just a half hour before they were closing and expressed my issue. He told me to come to his office that day and even stayed late for me. He managed to help me and gave me a temporary flipper. Dr. Sfondouris went out of his way to help me, he is an amazing person and even a better doctor. I had no expectation that I was going to have a tooth and he made sure that I was equipped for the wedding. I full heartedly give them 5 stars keeping every aspect of my previous experience with them and my most recent one. They always strive to be the best and the staff there are so genuine and personable that I love giving them my business and will certainly be back at the drop of a hat. I have only 1 small cavity now that just started to form. Get a copy of your X rays and get a second opinion. There are online services that do that now.
