Time is something that once it is gone, you will never get it back. Gone forever! I was reminded of this on my most recent visit to Dr Berry's office. My wife made an appointment with Dr Berry's office to see a PA at 6pm. We had to be someplace at 8:45pm so we thought that we would have plenty of time between appointments to maybe grab a quick dinner. Boy were we wrong. We arrived at Dr Berry's office at 5:55pm for the 6pm appointment. The first thing you are greeted by as you enter is instructions to be ready to pay up, which gives you an idea of what the real priority is here. We then sat down. The waiting area was somewhat crowded, which seems to be par for the course in this place, and what few seats were available were too close together. Sitting in this waiting room at 6pm on a week night is akin to stuffing 10lbs of Shit in a 5lbs bag. We then waited to be called....and waited, and waited. About 45 minutes into our wait, my wife asked the receptionist what the delay was all about. The receptionist sniffed and said that my wife's records were lost briefly, since she had not been in since March. Well, now, I'm not an expert on medical procedures but the one thing I believe I can figure out, is that patients records are filed in some sort of order, like alphabetically. Now if a patient hasn't been in since March (this is July), wouldn't it stand to reason that the record would have been placed back in its proper order by now? We continued to wait and started to see people getting called who came in after us. Then finally, at 7:30pm, a full one hour and 30 minutes after arriving "On Time" for the 6pm appointment, we were called in to the exam room, just to sit for another 15 minutes. Once the PA entered the room, the examination lasted 5 minutes. One hour and 45 minutes for a lousy 5 minutes of their time. Oh, and since We were "delayed" for so long, we just barely made our 8:45 appointment, on empty stomachs, with only seconds to spare. This place operates for the sole purpose of squeezing as much money from the insurance companies as is humanly possible. They intentionally overbook to maximize the amount of money they can make. I cant blame them though, because he is the only Dermatologist that works evening hours in this part of Brooklyn, so he really does have you by the balls. Really, where else are you going to go? Yelp makes you give at least one star, but this operation doesn't deserve any stars, unless you use a WTF meter, then he would get 5 stars. If you have all of the time in the world, then you might enjoy sitting in a crowded waiting room where the only entertainment might be watching very unpleasant and ill mannered children running around and the occasional outburst from the doctor toward one of the hapless workers. However, if you spend your whole day at work and like to spend a little free time at home with your family, this might not be for you. Bottom line, if you need a Dermatologist, try to go elsewhere. read more
