And wouldn't you know that this psychological downgrade happened after our machines were upgraded with smart technology to, among other things, inform residents via an app when/where we could do our laundry and when our clothes would be ready? #PièceDeRésistance The aformentioned vandalism in one of our complex' laundry rooms was the last shameless straw for me (No, not the dryer racks purchase.). So yesterday I was ready to return to the laundromat scene. We picked Fondren Washateria by chance after missing the 63 in the opposite direction. Wowee Zowee! The clean and brightly-lit biz welcomed us with huge cushy arm chairs (different from the ones pictured here and on Google Reviews), reclining massage chairs, and spankin' new gambling machines at the entrance. We couldn't pass the wash-n-fold station without being greeted and offered laundry cards with $5 on each one. No, I wasn't expecting criminal activity before walking in, but I was surprised by the old-school customer service, which didn't end here. When the woman who greeted us wasn't doing her thing in the wash-n-fold area behind the counter, she was making active rounds in the self-service area where we were, and she was armed with cleaning spray and a cloth. If I didn't get a thorough answer to my questions during my experience, info was volunteered to help me do my laundry without confusion or frustration. And I could tell I was dealing with a pro when the same staffer on duty who greeted us was able to test the weight of my bags and confirm that I'd be able to use the small washers. And the washer sizes! They're not just labeled like clothing. Each machine has a sticker that translates their S/M/L/XL sizes into 20lbs, 30lbs, 45lbs, 62lbs, and 77lbs. And the two dryer sizes hold up to 50lbs and 67lbs. They don't play here. #AbundanceMentality There are enough machines and everything else, imo, at Fondren Washateria to thwart anyone's scarcity mindset or whatever other cray I simply can't make time for in shared laundry spaces gone awry. And if you're lucky enough to catch the busy bee who helped us as you're leaving here, be prepared for her to send you off in a way that'll leave you feeling like you found your new laundromat.
