One of the best sushi experiences I've ever had. I was part of a group of about 10, and we had to wait a while because the restaurant was very small, big enough for not even 20 people. Regardless, the food was good, we ordered ten different dishes and they were all very good, the fish was fresh, and the presentation was spotless. A little expensive, but all sushi is, we averaged 15 a person. Bottom line: If you have the chance, this restaurant is a must. read more

It just open and it's my favorite spot, the owner and chiefs are so cool and professional. The food has good flavor and the atmosphere is great. Rice Monkey has quick take out when I'm in a rush. Food was great and the service was excellent. Only problem is the place is tiny (less than 20 seats). We started with the pork spring roll - very good! Then I had the beef Pho. It was also terrific, though it was very gingery unlike I have had Pho before. My family had the California roll - very tasty and nicely presented; lots of it too. The sushi was good but not excellent... kind of bland. The seating was pretty tight but it worked out just fine. Excited to have another choice in sushi restaurants. The service was great! Looooove Rice Monkeys! The Lime twist is my favorite! Never had a bad experience with them. Location is WAY too small, but they solved that with the new place out on Florida, although I don't think they have the same rolls. Love this place! It is small and crowded, but the staff is very friendly and accommodating . The food is wonderful! Great sushi, chicken ginger pho is yummy and try the Saigon noodles. Most portions are large and shareable . The veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce are great and the fried egg rolls with pork are the best. Hands down the absolute best sushi in town! So fresh, so delicious, fast and great service. I literally eat here 2-3 times/week and it never gets old. I am a vegan and they are so accommodating and sometimes even make me special rolls that aren't even on the menu. Literally the only downfall to Rice Monkeys is that the space is so small. The food was excellent. I had the Traditos, which the server described as a party in your mouth. She was right. Subtracted 1 star because they are so busy you have to give your phone number and shop in town until there is a table available. Our table had a heater under the seat along the wall which was nice because the front door constantly opened and sent a blast of cold air onto us. Try to get a seat in the back. read more

This restaurant is very small, and absolutely best suited for ordering take-out. We waited for about 10 minutes for a table for our family of four at the dinner hour. The seating is on a wooden bench with no footrest on one side of the room, and the opposite side is wooden stools. This is not comfortable. It also was not air conditioned, so we were overheated. However, the service was fast and the food is made to order. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls, had the edamame and a rice bowl, all of which were tasty. The ingredients were fresh and made authentically in the Japanese style. I would recommend it but not to sit down. read more

When looking for a place to enjoy a quiet Father's Day dinner we learned that this gem of a restaurant had recently decided to open on Sundays. The restaurant can seat only about 20 people, but its size does not detract from the quality food and efficient service. The menu consists of classic Vietmanese dishes and a beautiful array of fresh sushi. We started the meal with a vegetarian spring role that was accompanied by a classic peanut sauce that was followed by a perfectly flavored miso soup. The main course consisted of a sashimi selection and a dragon roll that contained perfectly cooked asparagus along with the usual eel, cucumber and avocado. My kids were craving pho after a day visit to Mesa Verde and before our train ride on the Polar Express. We stayed in Pagosa Springs for Thanksgiving week and there isn't a Vietnamese restaurant in the quaint town. Rice Monkeys came up in our Google search and we were pleasantly surprised. The kids ordered the Beef pho which they gave 4 stars. My husband and I went the sushi route and ordered the Volcano, Lime Twist and Funky Monkey rolls along with the salmon and yellowtail nigiri sushi. The Volcano was my husband's fav and I liked the Lime Twist. Moe was our very pleasant server and the the restaurant is small but cozy. There were many locals that were having dinner and that's always a good sign. read more

Five of us sat around a small table and we were pleased with everything we ordered from the seaweed salad, miso soup to the sake and 5 amazingly prepared rolls. Rice Monkeys has super fresh sushi and a wide selection. I've been highly satisfied with every roll that I've ordered. I really enjoy their soups! The best menu item is the deep fried sweet potato shrimp sticks......!! I get this almost every single time that I visit. We wanted to love this place. We saw the great reviews and thought we couldn't go wrong. The seaweed salad was great, and my companion's fish vermicelli was decent. However, I ordered two sushi rolls that were subpar and fell apart easily. Further, this place is NOT very group/family friendly. The space is so long am narrow that only one person can walk across the restaurant at a time, clutching their children and/or belongings to their front or back while walking in a slightly sideways gait (think: being on a commercial airliner). It was so cramped that my companion urged us to do carry-out rather than dining in since we had two small children in tow and felt claustrophobic inside. That being said, we ordered our food and it was ready quickly. I asked if soy sauce was in the bag when they handed me the order. They said yes. We drove all the way back to our lodging on the far outskirts of town inly to open the bag and find there was no soy sauce for the sushi, and the supposed "pickled" lemon and lime slices that one of the sushi rolls was topped with were not pickled, but raw which made them very bitter. I'm amused that we had better seafood in far more deserted places in the desert. I'd be willing to try them again if I weren't just passing through for a day or two. read more

I was told the food was great. We stopped by for a quick bite on our way to Texas, & were told their were no tables and to please wait outside. After 20 minutes, we went back in because we were waiting in the sun. There were two empty seats at the bar so we sat down to wait. The girl is taking an entire page order over the phone. She then brings us menus (I guess she had forgotten we were outside since seats were now available) and I tell her we're ready to order and if she could put in our order since we had a long drive ahead. She puts the long phone order in, then tells us it'll be at least a 30 min wait since she just got a large phone order. I tell her we were waiting way before she got that order & already knew what we wanted. She quickly tells me they're really busy as if we were an inconvenience. I guess phone orders take priority. And it sucks when wait staff see a busy restaurant as a nuisance rather than a success. I'm sure the food is amazing, but the service (or lack there of) was not worth it for us, so we left. read more
