The grades and rationale: General Tao chicken (4/10): The sauce was ok (not the best, not the worst), but too much. The overall taste was just ok. Hot sour soup (9/10): Good flavor Dumplings (2/10): Way way way too doughy which killed the taste. Little flavor. Sescuan beef (6/10): The ingredients were there and were good once you got past the over abundance of the sauce (which was not the best flavor) Our primary Chinese restaurant that is nearby is closed on Sundays. Don't believe the bad / average reviews...these folks clearly are either too picky or just lost on the fact this is a small town Chinese restaurant. My wife and I have lived in big cities all over the US with some of the best Chinese cuisine you can find. This is an excellent restaurant with consistently great tasting Chinese food. Ordered take-out through DoorDash and we very pleased with the taste, quality and packaging of the take-out. Being new to the area we have been searching for a favorite "go to" Chinese place and we definitely found that in Rice Fun. The Scallion Chicken was something I had never tried before and it immediately became my new favorite. The sesame chicken and General Tso's were both equally as awesome. The Crab Rangoons are a common must have and theirs did not disappoint! One of the qualities I always appreciate in take out is the packaging, Rice Fun uses quality packaging that kept the food nicely presentable and hot! I took my kids here on a whim (letting them pick what to eat after a target trip) and it was fun. I went there once before years ago when it first opened and I was a teenager or maybe 20. I didn't love it then. But in my opinion it's definitely improved. I still prefer Shikis (Katana Kitchen in Statesville) or China Garden in Troutman, but my kids ate almost everything and they give you a good amount. The teriyaki chicken is a bit different, instead of chunks they are slivers or slabs, that's how I'd describe it. Not my favorite, but the kids loved it. The shrimp sauce is pink instead of orange. Different but good. Affordable. And they are one of the few places who has everything out and available you might need (napkins, straws, lids, soy sauce and half a dozen other sauces) right out by the soda machines. The only other places I can think of that do that would be Shiki's aka Katana Kitchen in Statesville, and Bae's Burgers in downtown Mooresville. This is what made me change this review from 4 stars to 5 because honestly...every fast food place and restaurant you have to ask for every little thing, they forget to give you necessities, and don't even keep napkins out sometimes. Visiting Mooresville from out of town and wanted to grab something to take back to our rental...and what better to grab than Chinese Take Out, right? I ordered the Mongolian Beef with fried rice and an egg roll. It was very tasty, the slices of beef were seasoned well but there was a little bit of gristle in some of them still, making for a tough chew. The fried rice was good, nothing special that would make Uncle Roger happy, but it was good. My wife ordered the Hibachi Chicken, which she graciously shared with me...and it was fantastic! Wonderfully seasoned and cooked with a good mix of veggies. The pink sauce that accompanied it was fairly tasty, but it looked a bit different from what we are used to. in my world there are few things funner than rice so when I see a sign proclaiming "Rice Fun" I'm all in... and this is where I find out it's a takeout. yep, it's a chinese takeout joint disguised as a chinese joint on the perimeter of big box shop-o-rama. so if you're here on a whim you may as well just grab some bench because you're probably on your way to, from, or between shopping and chinese always tastes better hotter anyway. quick scan of the menu and it looks like I'll have to make my own fun: sub crispy scallion chicken for the General's, fried rice, egg roll, and tea... so far so food :-) tea arrives first and it's much too green and much too hot to drink until I get some ice from the soda machine... my meal arrived in a medium fancy compartmentalized to go box that kept my food from randomly touching until I wanted it to. popped the lid off and started in to sampling: egg roll is appropriately fried and tasty with a bit of mustard and probably bad for me! (same for the fried rice except it's more ricier and no mustard) scallion chicken was very crispy and hot but not spicy, not really scalliony either but I saw a bunch of them in there... maybe supply chain issues? or chip shortage? maybe they can adjust that if I ask nice? not the best chinese ever but good enough for take out and there's plenty of it in the box and it's kinda on the way home Sunday. read more

We were spending the night in Mooresville on our way to Florida and wanted a quick, easy (not necessarily cheap, but that's always a bonus) dinner to take to the hotel. After weighing all the great options in the area, we decided to give this place a try. We could not have been happier with our decision! The food was fresh and tasty. Even after taking time to check in at the hotel, park, and carry our luggage to the room, everything was still warm (to be fair, my wife is a Doordasher, so she had an insulated bag in the trunk which probably helped). Portion size was perfect, maybe even a little too much for me, but I did have the egg drop soup with my orange chicken entree. My wife had the seafood in garlic sauce and an order of the crab rangoon. The staff were great, very friendly and quick. I do wish there had been an updated menu on Yelp or elsewhere online, but only because the pricing has changed considerably. We will definitely be back on our next trip though Mooresville! read more

I've lived in Mooresville for almost 10 years now and have never tried this place. Decided to stop in last weekend and give it a shot. I've heard great things from friends so I had high hopes. I was disappointed. I got the Spicy Scallion Chicken. It wasn't spicy at all. I don't have a super high spice tolerance so I know spicy stuff when I taste it. This wasn't even mildly spicy. Maybe I should have asked for it, I'm not sure. I imagine they're use to people not wanting it spicy. Not certain. The chicken was over cooked. Really dried out and difficult to chew. I barely managed to eat 1/4 of it before it was just too much work chewing it all. The fried rice was not very good. It tasted a bit over cooked as well, a little mushy like it has been cooked, then refrigerated, then reheated. It was not fun. Rice not fun. Disappointed in the main course food. The highlight of the meal was the egg roll. It was really good. Cooked perfectly, piping hot and crispy. They have a self serve drink station and if you dine in you get free refills. You pick up your own utensils (plastic), napkins, and sauces (soy, duck, hot mustard). Also if you dine in they bring your food already in a to go box (styrofoam) in case you can't finish it and want to take it. I didn't want to take mine. I think I would give them a try again and maybe try something different. A gentleman was sitting next to me who got lo mein and it looked really good compared to mine. read more

This is solid 3 star normal everyday average Chinese food that is the same as every little Chinese take-out restaurants across the USA. I gave them a 4 star because they were open on Saturday for lunch during the Covid craziness and the staff was very friendly. I went with Sesame Chicken in a very nice presentation that I really do not see. They use trays that are partitioned, which looks pretty, but it is a pain to actually mixed up all the food, lol. No worries. Crab Ragoons were the same, average and the same as everywhere else. My wife ordered Mongolian Beef - Extra Spicy and for a change, it was super spicy. Great fast food Chinese! The orange peel chicken actually has orange peel in it for flavor. The meals all come with rice and an egg roll or spring roll. I have asked for no rice and substitute veggies and they will cook the veggies right into the sauce with whatever you order. I've had their sesame chicken, scallion chicken, orange chicken, all are very yummy. Definitely a regular take out place for us. read more

Server:Yes Me: can I get one with Tofu and Vegetables? Server:you want noodles with tofu and rice? Me: Yes, thick rice noodles, no meat. When he came back, he came back with the regular spaghetti with no veggies in it and tofu. I asked the server if they have rice noodles, he said no we dont have rice noodles, this is the noodles we have. My friend had ordered thick egg noodles and he got the correct one albeit bland.
