I stopped eating Chinese food because they all cook behind a swinging door and they all use the same frozen food and sauces, RICE FUN HAS CHANGED MY MIND !! This place has the whole kitchen up front you can see REAL food getting cooked and prepared like a real restaurant!!!! The food is outstanding and fresh and great prices and great portions, i have never been here and the employee was very helpful in finding a best dish for me !!!! I am so happy i gave Chinese food another chance because this place is AWESOME!!! Will be back 100/100 !!!!

Food was fresh and ready in just a few minutes. If you have a gluten allergy know dishes are limited to a few items. Egg roll is offered if you can't have it extra veggies or white rice is offered in place of it. Asking for Sriracha found none available but do have packages of hot sauce available.

Visiting Mooresville from out of town and wanted to grab something to take back to our rental...and what better to grab than Chinese Take Out, right? I ordered the Mongolian Beef with fried rice and an egg roll. It was very tasty, the slices of beef were seasoned well but there was a little bit of gristle in some of them still, making for a tough chew. The fried rice was good, nothing special that would make Uncle Roger happy, but it was good. My wife ordered the Hibachi Chicken, which she graciously shared with me...and it was fantastic! Wonderfully seasoned and cooked with a good mix of veggies. The pink sauce that accompanied it was fairly tasty, but it looked a bit different from what we are used to. If you're in town, looking for some good Chinese take out...head on over here and get some!

It all started with missing white rice…read more I had been working all day and hadn't consumed Chinese food in about a year. I love Chinese food but I have been paying off debt like Al Capone wanted his loan-shark money back, which led to me going from 27.3k to currently 1.8k on my Discover within a year. This background is to let you know why I haven't been eating a lot of Chinese food. It has nothing to do with sodium. But this is about wonton soup, sesame chicken, lo mein, white rice, and a drunk guy (not me). All of the food items listed above were solid. And they are always solid across the board. I wouldn't put this restaurant as #1 for any of those individual items in Lake Norman but I do put them #1 for all food as a whole. In other words, Jin Jin has the best wonton soup but you only get four wontons and they aren't as good at other stuff, and it just doesn't seem as clean--Huang's Chef is impeccably clean. Huang's China Bistro in Cornelius has the best sesame chicken but their lo mein and wonton soup aren't quite as good (still very good though). Lotus on River Hwy (Rt 150) has the best lo mein but not quite as good on the other stuff (but still very good). Huang's Chef (Mooresville) is a solid 9.0 across the board so it's where I order most. But the time prior to this one, I drove all the way to Huntersville and they forgot my white rice. This isn't a major issue but it kind of does ruin the experience after spending $30 for one person on dinner. Fortunately, they gave me a free pint of wonton soup the next time I went in. I was so excited to eat their food again that I ordered when driving by and had to wait. While outside and thinking I was alone on the strip-mall sidewalk, I practiced pronouncing "Huang's Chef." In order to do it, you need to inhale 5% on the "Huah" sound and exhale 95% on the "Wang" sound. I was getting good at it and repeating, "Huah-Wang's Chef ... Huah-Wang's Chef" while pacing, but a dude from from Marty's Bar popped out to smoke a cigarette and looked at me funny. "Just practicing," I said while nodding to indicate all was normal. "For what?" he laughed. I could tell he was one of those friendly drunk guys. "Huah-Wang's Chef." He walked over to cut the distance between us in half and laughed while taking a drag of his cigarette. Tall and skinny guy mid-60s with scruff and loose clothes that fit his personality. "Huah-Wong's Chef," he said. "No," I corrected. "It's Wang." "No it ain't," he cackled. "It's Wong." "That would be the Cantonese version. That's not correct." "I don't eat cantaloupes." He just started cracked up at his own joke, which wasn't funny, but then funny because of how much he enjoyed it. Then he continued, "What if we just put it together and start our own Chinese restaurant called Wang-Wong!" Bar guys always talk about things like this but know they will never follow through, and I didn't want to start a Wang-Wong Chinese restaurant with a scruffy-looking drunk guy. I had the perfect out anyway because Huang's Chef told me 15 minutes and it was about that time. "Good to meet you, but I have to go get my food now at Huah-WANG'S Chef." "Wong!" he cackled again as I walked away. Anyway, I definitely recommend Huang's Chef. It's a good price with solid portions and quality taste across the board. The restaurant itself is one of the cleanest Chinese restaurants I have ever seen, which is always a good sign. Definitely recommended.

You know, I'm sitting here at midnight after watching The Crooked Man from the SyFy network…read more(enjoying these low-budget movies because actors put heart and soul into it whether good movie or not and because concepts are sometimes cool) and was thinking about Lotus. To Clarify, Lotus wasn't a character in the movie and was actually the name of the Chinese restaurant. And if there was a Lotus in the movie, I wouldn't be thinking about Lotus--unless he/she was unique and had an interesting viewpoint on life with good intentions but also loved to be bad and was sometimes misunderstood. For The Crooked Man, I gave it a 7.2 but that's on a scale for the SyFy channel--and I gave Lotus a 4.0--which would make it an eight on a 10-point scale. Therefore, the Chinese food was slightly better than the movie. 8.0 is greater than 7.2. For the Chinese food, I liked my son's meal better than my own, but both were good. I got the Scallion Chicken, which I have never had anywhere. The waiter was kind and attentive but he really wanted me to have the Scallion Chicken. I tried to move to General Tso's and explained it was my first time there and should probably go with something I know. He said, "Yes! Most people order Scallion Chicken." Alrighty then. Scallion Chicken it is! What I should have ordered was the Roast Pork Lo Mein, which was very good. But if I did that and we both had Roast Pork Lo Mein, we would only know about the Roast Pork Lo Mein and not about the Scallion Chicken, which could have been General Tso's. We both asked for no vegetables in the Fried Rice but he said it would cost extra because it was already made. So, we just stuck with whatever was in there--eggs and ... scallions. I also ordered Wonton Soup but I just realized that it never arrived, which is the biggest negative because I love Wonton Soup. If someone called me tomorrow and offered me a job to travel across the country rating Wonton Soup, I would take it. It would be a Vlog titled: Man With Spoon. Another odd thing was when they refill your water, they take your glass and come back with it. Scallion Chicken isn't too spicy but it's nice to have water. It's weird when they take it away. You're probably wondering how this was a 4. Good question. But the food was good, the service was friendly (counts the most for me), and the prices were fair. And it was a comfortable dining area. But most importantly, it was fun to have lunch with my son, and the miscommunications and interesting approaches to service felt adventurous to me. If someone were rude, that's a whole different thing, but everyone was friendly, so I'm good with it. I will also stop in one day for a Wonton Soup.

Came here with 4 other people on a Sunday evening. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Nice…read moreand quiet little place that wasn't busy at all. We ordered krab rangoon and chicken teriyaki sticks for appetizers which were both fantastic. Their krab rangoon had a LOT of cream cheese. Most places skimp out and you get mostly just fried wonton with no filling. The teriyaki chicken was crispy and juicy. For entrees we got shrimp mei fun which was good, but a bit salty. We got the crispy scallion chicken which was flavorful, crispy and saucy. We also had the crispy orange beef which I wish was a bit crispier and less saucy, I think too much sauce made it soggy, but had a nice orange flavor and wasn't super spicy. We also had the beef with ginger and oyster sauce which was also salty, but the beef was tender. Last but not least we had shrimp lo mein, which tasted like your standard lo mein. Nice amount of shrimp and even took home leftovers as it was a large portion. A few of us would've loved to upgrade to pork fried rice with our meals instead of the standard white rice, but a $3 upcharge seemed a bit steep. 3 dishes came with soup, and they also give you duck sauce and crispy wontons for the table when first seated. The wontons were oily and tasted a bit stale. With 2 appetizers, 4 entrees and 2 soft drinks our total came to around $110 which isn't too bad. Around $20 a person. I wouldn't say I'm dying to come back to this restaurant, but if you need a Chinese food fix, this is a good place to go.

You might be confused by mixed reviews. I will sum them up for you quickly…read more The service is one of the friendliest I have ever seen in any restaurant, the place is insanely clean (especially for Chinese takeout), and the food isn't overly greasy. If you're used to greasy Chinese takeout, you might feel as though it's missing some taste, but my meal was super clean & tasty! That meal was General Tso's with Lo Mein (no vegetables, other than cooked green peppers that came with the chicken, which was very good). This is the first time someone at a Chinese takeout place asked me what spice level I wanted. I like spicy food but she recommended I start with 1 on a scale of 1-5. I said sure. There was no spice at all, which was a first for me for General Tso's, but it was still very good. The Lo Mein noodles were also solid--not literally but in taste quality. About a year ago, I ordered Wonton Soup from here and wasn't crazy about it. I had no intentions of eating here again but I recently left a toxic environment (work-related) and this led to my calm side kicking back in. This side has also led to me believing in second chances (and forgiveness--to an extent). So, I gave Great Wok a second chance and it paid off. Therefore, maybe this is more than a review for a Chinese takeout place and a life message since you're reading this. A crazy side note but it's 100% real: Their water from the tap is amazing. Idk why or how but trust me and you will see. I recommend Great Wok. It won't be for everyone but I like it.
