My girlfriend placed an order and had to cancel about 15 minutes later. She called the restaurant and was very apologetic for cancelling. Shortly after the call, she began receiving hostile text messages from someone associated with the restaurant calling her a "b**ch" and saying things like "you don't have a mom or dad." Screenshots are attached. This was harassment and it terrified her. The messages were so aggressive that they made her cry, and it scared her knowing that this person has access to her phone number. She's now worried about the possibility of someone like this being able to find where she lives. This behavior is completely unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. It also says a lot about the type of people they are hiring if an employee thinks this is an acceptable way to treat a customer. Whoever sent these messages should be identified and fired immediately. No customer should ever be treated like this. read more

Yami is located in a shopping center next to a grocery store so I hardly noticed it. But I was sent here because I was told the egg foo young was superb. And lately I have not found many places near me that offer egg foo young much less highly rated Chinese food. I was not disappointed. The shrimp egg foo young was cooked just right and filled with lots of shrimp. The consistency was firm and they were good size patties. The gravy was smooth and flavorful. Just the way I like it. I also tried their fried rice and egg roll. Both equally delicious. For me, an egg roll needs to be golden brown and full of tasty veggies. I will return to this spot to try a few other items such as the shrimp Hibachi and the chicken wings. I heard a few people order those as I was waiting so that sounded good. read more

Mooresville is desperately in need of good - no, decent - Chinese food. Yami is relatively new to the area and even w/all the Brawley School Road nightmares they've managed to establish a bustling business. I stopped by tonight on the recommendation of a friend who uses Yami for delivery and here's how it breaks down. They advertise Chinese AND Japanese but they really aren't one of those places that tries to be a jack of all trades and master of none. The Japanese portion of the menu is just a few hibachi style items, no sushi or more skilled items. Like most Chinese places, the menu is extensive and offers lunch specials and dinner combos. Most items can be ordered by the pint or quart w/a side of steamed, fried or brown rice. Kudos to Yami on the brown rice option. The open kitchen is clearly staffed by Chinese men who know what they are doing and do it quickly. They were quite busy but kept up w/the demand and we didn't wait more than 10 min for our food. The front, however, is manned by two white guys and I shoulda known better when I asked if their Chow Mai Fun was the same as my west coast Chow Fun. I coulda sworn it was different but the kid said it was one and the same so I ordered it. Guess what. It is NOT the same on any level. This was a disappointing, plain noodle dish. No flavor to the chicken, no sauce, no seasoning. The other dishes we ordered were the Kung Pao and Broccoli Beef combos. The BB was one of the better versions I've had in NC, w/tender beef, big, bright stalks of broccoli and orange slices of crunchy carrots. Sauce was a bit whitewashed for my taste but it wasn't bad. The kung pao chicken was tiny little chunks of chicken - no grissle anywhere!- and lotsa of chunks of veggies & peanuts. I would like to have larger chunks of chicken and more chicken to veggie ratio. The rice was nice, not dry but also not as sticky as Japanese style rice. The staff was very nice, the environment bright and clean, a basic chinese joint. They deliver and we would definitely utilize them more had we stayed in Mooresville. I'm giving it a solid three stars and look forward to trying more in hopes of finding a four star dish. read more

Very good for Chinese take out. We probably eat here about once a month. I usually have some special request and only once have they missed it. I like their egg drop soup better than any Chinese takeout. Their wonton is about average. Sesame chicken and General Tso's are good, lo-mein is about average. Chicken wings are not that great. Good fried rice. Haven't tried their Japanese dishes. Communication has never been an issue for me. They have understood anything I've asked. There were plenty of employees and we were the only customers, but the staff was more interested in watching online videos on one of their phones than of our business. We were greeted with "what you want for your order". That was it. I think we visited nearly every chinese and asian food place aside from this one that was at the end of our street before we decided to also try. I was angry that I had not done this much sooner! We have ordered three times so far and every dish tried was absolutely wonderful. We just tried delivery the other night and may not do that one again only because of the delivery driver made a comment that was out of place but the food still more than made up for it. Everything is fresh, perfectly crispy when it should be and absolutely beautiful. The interior to this small establishment is incredibly clean and service is very fast. We have lived in the area for the past 14 years and have frequented Yami quite often for takeout. My son asked for Yami this evening and I went and picked up an order Chicken Fried Rice for him. I brought the order home and about half way into the meal, he felt a hair in the food in his mouth and spit it out. I brought what remained of the meal back and spoke to the owner who knows me for quite some time - I never had an issue in all this time and when I told her what had happened, she proceeded to yell at me and asked for the actual hair and appeared to not believe what I was claiming. I had to repeat myself to her twice and explain he spit it up - did she want the spit up food as proof? She finally refunded me the cost of the chicken fried rice and after few times back and forth.......never going back again......food quality has slowly been slipping over the years and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. read more

There are clearly no Standards at this place! Our food was depressing, no pride anywhere in that kitchen or establishment. I don't want to mislead, we had our food delivered. I can't imagine the experience is much different inside. I won't bore you with all the "wonderful" little things that made this a horrible experience, but allow me just a few.
