Walked up to the girl with star stickers on her face who was seating people. I told her two people, but gave no name because she didn't ask for one, plus she grabbed two menus like she would seat us. She didn't, she walked away. I stepped back to get out of the walkway. I counted at least 7 empty tables. We stood there for about 10 mins waiting. I keep thinking the Shawnee, OK Rib Crib can't get any worse. They must take it as a challenge. I made a Rib Crib app order (my mistake...again) and ordered the bbq cheese burger with a side of okra. I learned the "to go" bbq burger only comes with meat and cheese, no sauce of any kind and no vegetables. I guess the sides of okra only come with 8 pieces now. Being the gluten for punishment I am, I ordered a Blackberry fried pie. I didn't see it happed, but I can only assume based on the pie I received, they get stepped on before being placed in the box. 9/09/24 Saturday night around 5-530pm. Initial surroundings were messy. Almost every table had a plate on it and the store wasn't very busy. We ordered our drinks and gave all of our order to the server. Our side salads actually came out before our drinks, which we had to ask for them again. We then had another server bring us our drinks even though from our point of view our server was leaning over a computer and also talking which look to be managers. My mother and sister attended RibCrib this evening, we was seated by our hostess Katie P, and we waited on the waitress, then the manager came up to them and told them "I have no wait staff to serve you, so you need to leave" of course we asked why! She told us "I don't know why but they are refusing to serve you." So then she went into the kitchen and the hostess came back to them and told them the reason she said "they don't want to wait on you due to you not tipping the servers, but I will wait on you no problem!" This was the most absurd thing I have ever heard and of course it is not true, we all have gone there multiple times a month since it has been in business, and never had any issues! I have always tipped the wait staff so has my mother, by the way which is NOT required, but we did anyways! She also tipped the hostess you served them today. I would NOT EVER recommend this RibCrib. I called the store back after them leaving and asked the manager Whitney for the corporate phone number and she would not give it to me, so then I asked for her superior and she refused as well. It's a middle of the road kinda BBQ. The flavor is there but there wasn't a huge lunch crowd and our food came out Luke warm. We had the brisket queso to start and while it was good it had a lot of the fatty part mixed in. Also their fresh fried corn tortilla chips were just doused in grease and for some reason cold. I picked the two for 11 deal. I had the chicken baked potato with the works and like I said before the meat was barely warm and the cheese wasn't even melted most of the potato wasn't even warm. Then I paired with two ribs. They were flavorful but then again also pretty cool in temp. This lunch was with people I didn't know so I didn't want to be "that person" (especially since my meal was paid for by them and it was their suggestion to come here) so I was unable to complain to our server BUT I decided to look this place up and see what was already said. I had not been to RibCrib in awhile and probably will not go back. I placed an order online for pickup. the two meat plate hot link and sliced brisket with extra an hot link. $22.97 I got home and opened the container and what a joke. There was a half a slice of ONE brisket slice and maybe ONE hot link cut up when two hot links where ordered. There was a sign in the restaurant that said because of the cost of slice brisket the price has went up. but it didn't say we're also giving you a lot less brisket also! The food at this location is normally quite good. However, it is very disappointing to see that safety and cleanliness are not high on the priority list. Have just picked up a carry out order at noon. There is a mask ordinance in place in the city of Shawnee. The hostess who handed me my order had a mask on, but it's underneath her double chin not covering her nose or mouth. Not only did she hand me my carry out bag this way after looking through the other three bags, but she seated a couple at a table for lunch who were clearly taken aback by the fact that we all had masks on but the employee did not. Cases in our city have tripled in the last two weeks and multiple restaurants have had to shut down due to employees with Covid. Well, I was surprised by the negative reviews. Being from Texas I was expecting a meat line, but it's actually more like Chilli's; no meat line and served from kitchen. Menu had plenty of options. Our service was good, attentive, 20%r. Food was very good. BBQ was adequately smoked. Pulled pork not so North Carolinian. Chicken and beef was fine. Sausage and links seemed done well. Space was appropriate for BBQ, including John Wayne photo; clean. We were seated quickly and served quickly and joyfully by Jennifer. BBQ sauces were the 5 star killer... Vinegar was too strong on all three and generally did not contribute to the BBQ. So if you like Texas, Memphis, or St Louis style avoid the bottled sauce. The food comes out of the kitchen cold. The sliced brisket was tough.. the pulled pork didn't smell good and wasn't done.. the chopped brisket was so fatty and the taste just wasn't good. 3 meals an appetizer and 4 drinks-$58. Most often when a restaurant opens there is a period of "growing pains." For this very reason I normally give a new establishment time to season and mature before sampling the food and service. Rib Crib was different, and my wife and I ate there the first week they were open and we were very impressed with the service and the quality of the food. A period of months passed before we returned and we noticed a significant drop in efficiency of the staff and quality of the food coming from the kitchen. In fact two of our requested items were not available. On this visit our server never checked with us until she brought our check. In fact, the food was delivered not by our server but by a food runner. There was a very long wait for the food to arrive and none of it was up to temp. Last week we made our last visit to Rib Crib at 45th and Kickapoo for a late lunch. Again, service did not come anywhere near approaching adequate. My wife had requested no croutons on her salad and got enough for three salads, our Okra was burned and our Ribs were dry and very tough. I had to get out of my seat to find our server to get a refill of tea. A restaurant can maintain guests with acceptable food and outstanding customer service. Outstanding Food and poor customer care is almost as bad as what Rib Crib now is putting forth.......Poor Food and equally Poor Service. I only gave them one star because NO stars wasn't an option. My friends (party of 2) were there as well and asked for a booth...the girl rolled her eyes and huffed, "I'll have to go clean one." We had a party of 5. We were told we would have to wait until they had a table ready for 5 people. We waited for at least 15-20 minutes (because I was talking to my friends or my husband would have already left) and my 6 year old said, "ummm why can't we put a chair at the end of one of those empty tables?" There was about 15 tables open. We decided to go ahead and leave and not one person even noticed that we were walking out. I'm not sure if it's the generation or what BUT it's hard to find good customer service anywhere these days. They didn't care if we stayed or left. I usually don't write reviews but enough is enough. This is about the 15th try we have given them and we have ONLY had one OKAY experience there. We will not be going back. Honestly, I'm surprised it's still open. Went in to this Rib Crib for lunch today. I wanted to try something a little different as I wasn't very hungry. I ordered the nachos with chopped brisket. When our food came out I discovered that I'd make a mistake, in my mind when ordering nachos I didn't realize a dish of white queso with the brisket chopped in with the cheese. I realized that I'd ordered the wrong item or the menu wasn't clear on what it actually was, I have a very sensitive stomach so I am used to eating rather bland dishes. This was far from bland and this was too spicy for me. The highlight of the meal was not the food but the young man that seated us & then was our server. I wished I had gotten his name but he was everything a server should be. He was attentive & prompt. He noticed I was struggling with what I'd ordered and very quickly he asked if I wanted to order something else, he brought me plain queso & chips at no cost. It's rare to meet a server these days that isn't frazzled and incompetent. I brought the spicy queso home to my husband so it wasn't wasted.
