P-A-R-T-Y!!! Rhone Rum Bar is going to be one of those places you'll go to hang with your best friends. Heck, you'll even come here to with co-workers after a hard day of work. The Caribbean themed drinks, food and decor, makes it an easy place to just let loose and relax. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a soft opening. Sure they had some bumps, but they still put on a good showing of what is to come. RRB is defiantly going to live up to its name, serving over 50 different varieties of Rum. Their specialty cocktail menu offered a variety of frozen and boat drinks all priced at a reasonable $8. My bartender recommended the, Buschwacker. It was a frozen cocktail made with six different liquors. My only wish is, that the next time I have one, it is one a Caribbean beach. It was so refreshing, I want to feel the warm sun on my face and sand between my toes. I also, tried a couple of boat drinks (non-frozen). I really liked the, Pirates Paloma. The combination of grapefruit juice and ting, with mango rum was a winner. The Vodka & Ting, was a simple cocktail. I'd recommend it for those who don't like exotic beach cocktails. Their food menu some would describe as limited. I'd say it is, selective and focused on popular Caribbean food. I enjoyed an order of Jerk Chicken Wings and Conch Fritters. The chicken wings were huge and meaty. They were served as a whole wing, not drummies and flats. That being said, they were a little messier to eat. Don't worry, that is why you're given bright colored linen napkins to wipe your mouth and fingers. The Conch Fritters were crunch on the outside, with a soft inside. When it comes to food, I'm rarely a dipper. However, the key lime remoulade served with these fritters had me dipping every bite. This is really a fun place to hang out on a weekend afternoon. The concept is great - a little Caribbean oasis in the middle of St. Louis city. You are first greeted by a welcoming sand sculpture and enter the big, open concept room. They have table and floor games inside - Jenga and big Connect 4 - but the real ambiance and fun is out on the patio. The patio is covered with sand, the tables have beach umbrellas, and there is also a room for beach volleyball or badminton. The room is indoors but has floor to tall ceiling windows and feels like you're outdoors. The drinks are delicious but it takes 2 to get a good buzz going. I'm not a fan of the food, though it is admittedly not my type of food. Everything is colorful and even the cups the frozen drinks come in change colors. Fun place. read more

We were here at opening in a Sunday. It wasn't busy and the service was very good. My wife had the bbq pork sliders and I,the conch and seafood ceviche. Both were very flavorful and served taro chips. The chips were kinda salty though. The beach vibe is a nice change, being here in St. Louis. This just opened. We came here because Planters was packed. The drinks were fine. The decor is awful and cheap. It is like a big room with chairs and tables and no thought for the island feel. The lighting is horrid and the wall colors dreadful. Our waiter was super nice and he was over his head waiting on just about every table in the place. They had a band but they were playing rock music (hardly what you would hear in a rum bar). They need a decorator for sure. The space feels cold and uninviting. The painkiller I got was good. We ordered cake but it never came. We only spent about 30 minutes here. It seems like it was thrown together in about 30 minutes. Not good, will not return. read more

Best kept secret in town! Drinks: awesome! Food: pretty darn good. Ambiance: feels like you're at a beach in the Caribbean (probably because the patio is LITERALLY a beach). Even better if you're here when there's live music! There is a wide variety of seating options, great decor, yard games, great staff. This place is so cute! It's like a little slice of the Caribbean right in the middle of STL. The cocktail menu is full of fun and tasty tropical drinks, not to mention the insanely long list of rum this place has! I didn't get a chance to try any of the food when I was there, but will be definitely be going back to try out some of the Caribbean inspired fare. The only downside is that the food and drink menu is somewhat limited so there may not be "something for everyone," but you'd have to be with pretty picky people to not find something that everyone enjoys here! read more

I went here with a group on a Saturday night. The building is great. Open space with outside patio and sand volleyball. Fun for a group. The atmosphere is bright and colorful but leaning toward the kitschy end of the spectrum. And I certainly wasn't reminded of the islands. It's still a warehouse. Drinks were tasty, but as with most rum based drinks are very sweet and rich. You won't want to drink too many. There is also beer, wine and other liquor available. Food was fine somewhat limited if you were gluten free or vegan. Nothing was outstanding and seemed pricey for the portion. This was nicer than my boyfriend would describe it. Service was nice but not fast. This was a fun experience and good for a group but I can't say there is anything that would make me come back again honestly so three stars seems to fit. read more

First time here. We loved it. Came for the Funky Butt Brass Band, stayed for the Rum. I had purchased tickets on line and paid 10.00 each ticket. Got to the door and the very nice lady told is that I was owed money for the tickets because the online price had not been changed since the last band/event, so that was a great surprise and I TOTALLY appreciate their HONESTY The Bushwhacker was spot on to the ones we first had years ago in St.Thomas. The perfect amount of nutmeg on top. All of the drinks were so good. Not over the top sweet either. The Key lime drink my daughter had was so good and the rim was dipped in graham crackers Checked out the indoor, sand volleyball court which was cute. Pie hole game was fun. Stumbled upon this bar because it was listed on the Passport Program and loved it. Extensive drink list with almost 50 different rums from all over the world. They also have a fun list of cocktails with different twists in each. For the food, definitely something new. We visited Rhone Rum Bar because we love vacationing in Jamaica and thought it would be nice to have a little of the Caribbean in St. Louis. We were all very impressed. Love the look of the place, modern yet fun & beachy. There were several games towards the back. We didn't really play any this time, but would take advantage of that in the future. They had a great band playing. We all loved the song selections, it wasn't the usual cover band songs that everyone does. My only complaint was it was very loud and hard to hold a conversation. Had we been able to get a table away from the speakers this probably wouldn't have been a problem. The drinks were great, it was nice to be able to order an Appleton and Ting in the US! The Pirate's Paloma was light and refreshing, and the rum punch was a great throwback to Jamaica. The drinks were pretty reasonably priced considering other places charge several dollars more per drink for specialty cocktails. Every food item we ordered was incredible. My husband is an amateur food critic and can be hard to please and he thought everything was outstanding. All three varieties of hand pies, conch fritters, jerk wings and seafood chowder. The seafood chowder was probably the table favorite, and I especially loved the veggie pies. We will definitely return! Next time we'll try the shrimp, and are also very intrigued by the scotch bonnet cheese sauce used on the nachos. read more

This bar will put you in a good mood, no matter the time of year. The atmosphere is great with summer vibes and good music all around. There is an indoor sand volleyball court as well as an outdoor sanded area. There are a variety of bar games to play as well. There is an unlimited amount of rum to choose from. This place is very new. I think they opened in December. So as of the time of this interview, they're still figuring things out. I was excited to try this place. I read a promotion for the then-upcoming Rhône Rum Bar at some point back in 2018. It was billed as a bar that would bring a craft cocktail approach to tiki. Brilliant. I was immediately sold on the idea. That concept was either abandoned along the way, or it hasn't come to fruition yet. The bar boasts an extensive collection of rare and exotic rums, so that's a plus. Problem is, they don't know what to do with them. They don't have Velvet Falernum. They don't have Angostura bitters. This should be a bar that has Fassionola and its own house-made Falernum. Instead, it's a bar that doesn't know what a Trinidad Sour is and couldn't make you one if you asked. The bar is desperately crying out for a passionate mixologist and someone who truly cares about the finer points of Tiki culture. It's across the street from Planter's House, after all. And as it stands, Rhône Rum Bar lacks even the basic ingredients and expertise necessary for a traditional daiquiri. What's the point of the best rum selection in St. Louis if you can't make a daiquiri? I hope they hire an expert bartender, and I hope they do it fast. read more

This is a really neat addition to the STL bar scene! Then drinks were great and not too sweet. The interior is fun with indoor volleyball and oversized connect 4 and on them decorations. The food was good. My only complaint was I only got 5 shrimp on a skewer for a $10 order. Two skewers seems more fair. read more

Love the concept and space, but after two tries we are just not impressed. Food is expensive and very average. Our chips and pineapple salsa had no hint of pineapple and was 75% onions. $9.99 for one skewer of 5 medium shrimp was also way over priced for the portion size. The band was great, but the bartender annoyed because we were 2 of 4 customers in the place on a Sunday evening and shut the bar down early. Great concept. Has a nice tropical vibe and feel. Drinks and food are pretty good. I wanted to love this place because it's my kind of vibe but the service just wasn't there. You seat yourself despite there being a hostess stand. The problem is that it takes awhile for anyone to come greet you and get your order. Eventually we did get a server who seemed a bit overwhelmed but he made it work. We didn't have enough plates and cutlery which went unnoticed for awhile until someone who appeared to be in upper management fixed it. If they get better direction and clear vision on the customer service, I think this place would be great. Lots of potential. read more

I'm really surprised this bar has received such high ratings. The drinks are small, full of ice and subpar when it comes to flavor. The ceviche was like eating little pieces of rubber and was lacking the citrusy zest you'd expect from this dish. A wonderful selection of rums, and the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of space, and comfortable to relax in. This would be a great venue to throw a party in. We went in for dinner, unfortunately, then are no longer serving food. The bartender recommended several places near there, and even had recommendations on what to order. Celebrated my birthday there this past Sunday. This was my third visit. I love the atmosphere and the outdoor sand patio. The drinks were fabulous and the food was amazing. We ordered just about everything on the menu twice and don't get me started on the rum soaked cake dessert. It is so amazing I could cry. We had a ball playing Jenga. Pamela took excellent care of everyone. We happened to have the bar to ourselves but a few couples wandered in during our visit. We stayed 2 hours and 45 minutes. This is my first time going to a rum bar and this is exactly what I imagined it should be. First, let me qualify that I am from the US Virgin Islands and I could see this place there. There is an indoor sand volleyball court. It is like they moved the beach indoors..only thing missing was the smell of the ocean. I went here for a rum tasting event and it was fantastic. They have a lot of nice rum to taste. The food is great and spiced well. Conch fritters were like the ones I had at home. The conch was melt in your mouth and not chewy. The band selection was great. The live band actually sounded like Ziggy Marley and Erica Badu was in the band. The band also played some songs that I grew up with in the 80's. I highly recommend this place. read more

Let's get this out of the way: The "service" was awful. Now, on to the food: After having been to a couple of fish boils, I was pretty keen on checking out Rhone's Friday fish pot. What was supposed to be a Thanksgiving-grade plate of flavorful abundance turned out to be what I think is my most disappointing restaurant experience. For twenty bucks you get what was probably an entire potato, three unpeeled rubber shrimp, a couple of slices of slimy corn on the cob, a few slices of andouille that was probably purchased at Costco, all flopped into a little cereal bowl. When it was brought out I thought it was maybe a side of sauce or something to go with the actual plate. I tried tasting all of it, but the three cups of salt wiped out any chance of that happening. The skewered shrimp appetizer (for two according to the "waiter") was one stick with five or six tiny rubber shrimp that was so dry that it sucked all of the St. Louis August humidity out of the air around it. Again, TONS of salt. The nachos were stale and likely from the bottom shelf of a grocery store. I believe there was supposed to be pulled pork on them, and we did see a couple strings of what appeared to be meat. Somehow this place made ceviche flavorless. Maybe it was the POUND OF SALT in it? I've been to lots of restaurants and I have never done these two things: left any shrimp, and left the restaurant hungry. I did both of those in one sitting at this place. read more

Beings that the USVI/BVIs are some of our most favorite places on earth, we LOVE this bar! They have great drinks and the staff is super nice! The first time we went there was a guy playing acoustic guitar beach music and the next time was steel drums. LOVED it! They even put the live feed of Soggy Dollar up which was awesome. Visited this place on a Friday night with some friends. The restaurant has an open layout with a Caribbean/pirate theme. Some areas are still under construction but there was plenty of seating. We did notice that the temperature inside was a bit cold (many of us kept our coats on). My group sat in the back lounge area where we ordered a few drinks and appetizers. I had the ceviche and Pig Pops, both were very good. We also had Conch Fritters which were chewy and hardly eaten. The service was fantastic and our server, Chancy, was on point and took great care of us. Overalls we had a good time. There are a few small kinks that still need to be ironed out but I think it's going to be a great hangout spot in the summertime. read more

Really great place! I absolutely love the atmosphere here, and all the staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. If you're wanting islandy vibes then this is the place to go in STL. The patio section is outside, and has sand! There's bags, sand volleyball, islandy music. Just a really cool place. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is just how sugary their drinks are. Most of if not all are premade with Oasis, which are typically really sugary. I'm attributing them to my headache, BUT I will definitely be back besides that because this place is too cool. Rum, unlike vodka, whiskey or gin, is made from molasses and not from grains. This allows for a wide range of tastes, aromas, profiles, etc. Rhone Rum Bar has a broad enough selection to cover the majority of the spectrum. AND all of it at really affordable prices. All the cocktails are $8, and the majority of the 120+ rums in their collection are under $10 (many in the $6-8 range). Go ahead and try something different and maybe you may like it. The pork with tamarid sauce was really excellent and complimented well the drinks. The taro chips were average, but the pineapple salsa that came with it was great. Rhone opened a couple of weeks ago so they are still working out the kinks. Nonetheless, give it a try. Meet people there and try some great rum (Don Q añejo or Flor de Caña). Have fun. read more
