This pub really takes its poker nights very serious, it's run very professionally and for that…read morereason it's always full to near capacity every week, in addition to that the owner who also has a pub in Hamilton ( just outside Glasgow) runs a bus every Sunday from the cabin to his other pub called the Auld Hoose which is a very big tournament and on average there are 50 or so very serious and keen poker players, and you get the chance to proceed to the local and nationwide games where the good winnings are to be had, but be warned these are focused players of which I count myself one. If poker is not your thing then every Tuesday there is a pub quiz which is fairly well attended not to mention the beer is very good as well, the gantry offers a large selection of fine spirits and beers so there is lots of choice on offer. The cabin used to do great meals but all of a sudden they stopped and to be honest nobody knows why however I think the most money comes via the poker nights moreover if you are playing well on. Sunday it can last for hours on one occasion I played for seven hours and lost Every Saturday night is also very busy as they always have either live music or a DJ and every time I go there there is always a great atmosphere , the interior is very clean and tidy and the gents is spotless the staff also know there stuff as on more than one occasion I have had my tipple passed to me and I'm not a regular so all in all this is a great pub for regular entertainment and for me as a poker weirdo it's really my first choice pub for that and a nice glass or two of white wine , give it a try if in the area you won't be disappointed

My performance was below average (which says alot for my average) but I stuck around, having some drinks and making the most of the atmosphere of the place, which was bursting with life. A really clean and tidy establishment, it's very Scottish with some curiosities on the walls and chirpy staff serving great drinks including cocktails. They also serve food here, which I didn't get to sample, and have alot of different things on the go day to day, including live Poker. A really nice pub that stands alone, standing proud. I would like to go back.

The pub is mostly frequented by the older generation during the week as they have reduced prices notwithstanding this is not a place I would come into on a regular basis as there is nothing really to shout about but on the weekend especial on a Sunday night there is always live music which is always good, ( can't beat live ) the staff are friendly and efficient plus they are all local yo the area which makes things easier for them the toilets are clean and acceptable but it's not my cup of tea on a week day , but enjoy the weekend for the music and it saves you going into town. I can remember my dad ( his rest him) drinking here when he was a young man I was about five or six , where does the time go. John and Annmarie who have took over, have turned the pub around, getting in a new clientele and renovating the pub inside and out. There is karaoke twice a week on a wednesday and sunday afternoons and regular entertainment in the big lounge/function suite.The karaoke on a sunday is a particularly good day, always busy and a right good day out. The staff- john,annmarie,rhian,max and wee liz are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The beer is one of the best pints in the area, meticulously looked after by big john and competitively priced. I would highly recommend anyone to pay the bar a visit. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised.

They offer a delivery service but forget that at weekends as you would wait forever. There is roadside parking available most of the time. Disabled access might be a bit tricky due to the step and the amount of tables in the place. I think they changed the chef when the owner changed which is a great pity. Still worth a visit though, avoid the steak!!
