I stopped here with a friend on a whim on a Tuesday. The signs outside said everything was $2, but…read morewhen we got inside, we were so excited to find out it was 25 cents instead! I'm not sure if that was a one day ordeal or if that's the new regular price on Tuesdays. Everything's thrown into large wooden bins, so I recommend wearing some gloves, just because some items may be broken and the bins in general get dirty fast. Likewise, if you don't tolerate dust well, this is not the shop for you. Most of the stock during our visit was holiday stock from department stores (mainly Walmart) that never sold. We were able to find some good finds though! This shop is definitely worth the visit if you're around the area and have some time to kill to dig.

If you hit it just right you can find some great buys. The…read moreproblem we have is the crabby female employee. She seems like the unhappiest of people. Don't ask a simple question or you will get eye rolls and smirks. When she fills the bins for their friday sales she puts shopping carts around the new merch. Well if you have never been here before and you dont know her rules she will take your head off if you move her blockades. We have witnessed her being rude to elderly as well. She also smokes right in the outside doorway so if you are sensitive to the smell hold your breath and run inside. The gentleman who generally run the cash register are quite friendly. Not sure why they keep her around.

TJ Maxx - The fanciest TJMAXX entry I've ever seen.

Didn't know what was in a TJ Maxx when I was looking for the place this morning. I thought it was…read morewomen's clothing I think. This written about a year or more back. I was resolving all the unfinished drafts this day Having seen commercials on television, had I paid any attention as fully indoctrinated and conditioned American consumer is expected to, I might've known already. But the only conditioning I accept is the Pantene in my hair. But because I am a card carrying owner of a revolutionary devise that allows time shifting, a DVR, I can nearly eliminate the propaganda administered to the masses via the Slave Commerce and Religion Enhancer Device. (SCARED) aka what else? Your television. Now that I managed to somehow find a place for that little smug, amusing (to me) and revealing (to few) tidbit, I shall express my great JOY! T J Maxx has really cool stuff for the wanna be home chefs and all forms of other really neat widgets and the likes. Scored for a very reasonable fee, a Instant Pot duo ($99) with the air fryer lid for significantly less than what I bought myself last summer. This one is going to be my little sisters upcoming birthday gift. Don't tell her, she doesn't read my Yelps, so I know this isn't going to be a spoiler. For myself I scored a large bottle of my favorite Ghost Pepper sauce, I have the grocery store bottle in the cupboard at home, but this is like the COSTCO size, but the same price as the regular stores littler size. And a Viking 8" induction skillet. Less than $20 1/3 list. Happy happy Joy joy. I don't think anyone says that anymore. What ever happened to Ren and Stimpy? They were better than the new versions of distasteful cartoons for chemically impaired adults, imo.

I have not been to the remnants of The Avenue since I was a kid. It is nice to see that a section…read moreof it is hanging on as a TJ Maxx location. The street (metered) parking was easy to find when we arrived. Architecture of the ex-Mall was still lovely to see and there was a tour group there talking about the history of the location. If you go to one TJ Maxx in Wisconsin make it this one.

Hence malls even in the most beautiful setting, such as this one, was pretty much doomed to go under. There is however a new renaissance coming to Milwaukee and it looks very promising. Hopefully it can jump start this shopping center. I would totally love to shop here if there is any shopping at all. Maybe in the near future. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!!

Its great…read moreto see what was a failing mall/glorified foot court a couple years ago, now a local attraction for locals and visitors. The Avenue has a lot of history behind it, once the only major indoor shopping facility in Milwaukee proper and the one time largest food court in Wisconsin, its great to see the thoughtful re-vamp of a historic part of Milwaukee. The newly re-branded Avenue is considered a shopping center, shared office space, and apartment building. While there are few retail stores, and plans for one or two more, it is not really a shopping center. Just on the other side of the building is a bustling food court wit many great options from local vendors. The many retail stores at one point have been converted to apartments, a creative way of keeping the historic look of the mall space. The space continues to have more potential and its great to see the history that still remains.
