My husbands mom had purchased his crib and accessories there some 35+ years prior, so it was suggested to us to check it out. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. No one was in the store at first - the owner finally came out from his office. This is a small business. Upon first glance, the store is small and cluttered. Keep in mind, this place has been in business for 50+ years and has been in the same building. Yes, it looks a little tired, and it's kind of weird that the upper part is almost like a duplex. Still, one look around - and after doing some comparison shopping at the big box stores - told us there is a good reason Baby Time has been around for so long. We spent a good amount of time talking with the owner, and let me tell you... This guy knows his stuff. He's not going to try and sell you some piece of junk just to make a sale. We walked back in 6 months later and picked up an awesome crib that will convert for our son when he becomes a toddler. Sure, we could have dropped the same amount of money at Buy Buy Baby or Babies 'R Us and probably have gotten some crappy side dresser to go with it. But before you go to any of those places, DO YOUR RESEARCH. There are so many stories of missing pieces, and then the product is quickly discontinued within a years' time. Good luck finding any sort of pieces for those chintzy, faux-veneer, sad excuses they call cribs. We wouldn't have gotten the quality crib our son uses had we settled for a big box store crib. You will spend a little more money, but you are getting a quality product, and the owner will help you with practical advice - not just sell you the highest dollar product.

Not only is the majority of the furniture here made of solid wood (insert joke here), but for the quality you're getting it is very kind on the wallet. Of course, you have to put it together yourself like you would if you bought it from IKEA, but it's far better quality. The most recent trip had us buying a wooden toy box to try and contain a spoiled kid's spoils. It's wonderful, it doubles as a bench and has the slow closing mechanisms so the kid won't get her hands stuck. Awesome furniture for an awesome price.

Initial Choice invited me in and told me they would find a way to make my project happen. I went in an immediately felt like these people knew what they were doing and really cared about making sure my friend got what she deserved on her wedding day. They made several suggestions and I basically told them I would leave the project in their clearly capable hands. I went back to pick up the shoes a few short business days later and everything was perfect. I could not have asked for better work and better customer service. It pays to staff someone in that role on a busy day. Lots of sports fun here. All kinds of holiday decor including fun things for Wisconsin and Green Bay football fans. I especially loved the personalization kiosk that allowed instant personalization of gifts from a tablet right in the store. There are kitchen items, and a host of fun home things perfect for wedding gifts, housewarming and more. Stop I'm for knowledgeable retail service and stay for great selection!

Beanstalk is the kind of toy store I wish is around when I was a kid. They carry a variety of toys…read moreand educational activity games. The store is clean and organized and I must mention the friendly staff on duty this past Saturday morning who offered to put a ribbon on a stuffed animal I purchased. There are plenty of street parking in front and around the store. It's a unique treasure for kids of all ages. Instead purchasing toys from of big box stores or Amazon, give Beanstalk a try!

They have a solid variety of wraps and carriers available, mostly from the "chic" brands rather than the big ones. There's a doll about the size and weight of a newborn you can use to try them on - not being a parent quite just yet, I appreciated that touch immensely. The lady running the store was super-friendly, too, and spent a lot of time showing me how to use them, explaining the relative merits of the different styles, and sharing some tips and tricks. They also have a "lending library" so you can take a few out for test drives with your own child before settling on one. Beyond that, they also carry all sorts of care products, a well-curated selection of cloth diapers, and resale maternity clothing. It's too bad they don't have more space in order to carry a wider variety of products, though. The selection of nursing supplies is relatively modest and doesn't include bottles and pumps, and you won't be coming home with stacks of onesies. It's hardly fair to go to a place that puts 'boutique' right there in the name and then be disappointed when it turns out to actually be a boutique, I know, but I'm going to do it anyway because I'd love to be able to come here for all my baby gear needs.

After making a selection of clothes I was examining a felt case of magnetic blocks when my newly potty-trained 3-year-old told me she needed to go potty. There were no public bathrooms available at the store. As every mom who has potty-trained knows, this can quickly become a minor emergency. At this point I made two mistakes: first, I didn't check the price tag on the blocks, and second, I didn't keep track of how much I was being charged. Unfortunately, I was too focused on my daughter and whether we would need to make a quick dash out of the store. Once home I was dismayed to discover that small set of blocks was $69.99. I tried calling the store to see if they could help me but only reached voicemail. As it was already close to closing time I decided to return the next day. At the store the next morning, I explained the situation to the employee at the counter and asked if they could extend some grace and do a one-time return of this single item. The employee remembered me and seemed sympathetic, but had to ask her manager in the back. Her manager remained in the back and sent word that they would not make an exception to their no-return policy. I then asked whether I could simply exchange the blocks for other merchandise totaling the same amount. That was also refused. Instead, I was told my only option was to sell the blocks back to the store on consignment for less than half of what I had paid for them the day before. I declined, as I would rather try to sell them myself and recoup more of the cost. At no point did the manager ever come forward to speak with me personally, but merely sent her employee back and forth. For anyone shopping here in the future, I strongly recommend checking every price tag carefully before checking out. Some items may be considerably more expensive than expected!
