My husbands mom had purchased his crib and accessories there some 35+ years prior, so it was suggested to us to check it out. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. No one was in the store at first - the owner finally came out from his office. This is a small business. Upon first glance, the store is small and cluttered. Keep in mind, this place has been in business for 50+ years and has been in the same building. Yes, it looks a little tired, and it's kind of weird that the upper part is almost like a duplex. Still, one look around - and after doing some comparison shopping at the big box stores - told us there is a good reason Baby Time has been around for so long. We spent a good amount of time talking with the owner, and let me tell you... This guy knows his stuff. He's not going to try and sell you some piece of junk just to make a sale. We walked back in 6 months later and picked up an awesome crib that will convert for our son when he becomes a toddler. Sure, we could have dropped the same amount of money at Buy Buy Baby or Babies 'R Us and probably have gotten some crappy side dresser to go with it. But before you go to any of those places, DO YOUR RESEARCH. There are so many stories of missing pieces, and then the product is quickly discontinued within a years' time. Good luck finding any sort of pieces for those chintzy, faux-veneer, sad excuses they call cribs. We wouldn't have gotten the quality crib our son uses had we settled for a big box store crib. You will spend a little more money, but you are getting a quality product, and the owner will help you with practical advice - not just sell you the highest dollar product.

Not only is the majority of the furniture here made of solid wood (insert joke here), but for the quality you're getting it is very kind on the wallet. Of course, you have to put it together yourself like you would if you bought it from IKEA, but it's far better quality. The most recent trip had us buying a wooden toy box to try and contain a spoiled kid's spoils. It's wonderful, it doubles as a bench and has the slow closing mechanisms so the kid won't get her hands stuck. Awesome furniture for an awesome price.

The selection wasn't overly abundant, and I think they could probably do more with their square footage, if they wanted to. I thought it was cute they had a little nook with a table and chairs and a "game of the week" sort of set up so you could try it out if you wanted. The employee working there was friendly and sweet. I got a small plush Douglas brand fox (because I collect fox plushies and I didn't have that particular design yet). In the basement they apparently sell bait and tackle, which is sorta hilarious. Inside, there are rooms filled with all kinds of games and toys. The selection ranges from board games to action figures and everything in between. There truly is something for just about every age and interest. If you are in the mood for something to eat, or want to buy a tasty gift, they also have a case full of different confections. Very good selection of yarn and knitting supplies, the store is well laid out with some other gifts like locally crafted jewelry and knit gnomes. I asked the woman behind the counter if I could bring some of my clothing in for consignment. She was very snippy and told me she was "done for the day" this was 4pm. She said I should come back at 10am another day. She had some hair clips on the counter--I was looking for a certain one. I opened the clip and it fell apart in my hand! She watched me open the clip and saw it fall apart. Very discussed she took the clip and did something on her computer/register and threw it away. I looked around and found a Tommy Hilfiger sweater coat. I liked it but didn't want to purchase it because this woman was so rude. I bought it anyway. I will never come back to this store or recommend it to anyone else.This store is nothing special and certainly not worth your time. Instead go north a few miles to Rochester. The New To You consignment shop is wonderful and the women that work there helpful and very friendly. They take your clothing at any time of day and will either donate or give you any clothing they do not want. The shop has been in this location a long time and very organized.
