They have very large selection of fabric and many, many accessories. They sell sewing machines, they sell sewing tables and assorted furniture. It is owned by a husband and wife. I always seem to deal with Jim and he truly is one of the kindest, and giving men I have ever met. They always run various specials and they have a wonderful deal where you buy this box that has all kinds of samples of notions etc, there is also some kind of voucher in the box where you get a free yard of material every month. Along with that special if you buy a machine you then get 20% off for the next I don't know how many years. They have terrific values in their clearance section too. I only found…read moreout because I noticed changes like more classes, new classes and the ability to finally be able to pay online without having to find time in my day to make a call to share my credit card information, and better customer service on the phone. It made me ask if there was a change in management and was pleasantly surprised to hear, "yes!" I didn't have any idea how quickly someone could turn a business around from a place I really didn't care for but had limited options for an alternative to a place I ENJOY going to. Communication- you now actually get responses to questions via email within a day! Store- new owner actually took feedback from her customers and re-arranged the store. Now if you take a class, you are not shoved into what I would call a storage room. Classes are now in an area of the store, but doesn't interfere with those shopping. Customer Service- Absolutely amazing! Some previous staff still work there and I could tell how much happier they are at their jobs now. This seems to have translated to overall better customer service. Classes- I'm happy to see more "non-quilting" classes and the prices remain reasonable. You now also get class reminders and list of materials needed, in a reasonable amount of time before your class date. Kudos to the new team at Material Girl! I'll be signing up for more classes throughout the year and buying more fabric.

I am always drawn into fabric stores while on a quest to secure fabric for my supremely artistic twin sister. I am not a quilter/crafter/sewer by any means. My twin sister has not met a fabric store she hasn't fallen in love with. So, for her, I went to the shop with no intention of purchasing material. I sent her photos of material. Next thing you know....one hour later... three large bags of material and $200 later, I escaped. Needless to say, my twin was pleased. Her particular favorites included the fabric with sewing cats and the Wisconsin-outdoor-printed fabrics. The Sewing Basket seems to be a community favorite- a gathering spot and a place that offers classes. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.

No point ever going anywhere else for my fabric and trim needs. Got my curtains, upholstery, and throw pillow fabrics all for about fifty dollars. TDO is an amazing place for decorators, quilters, and costumers. I don't know for certain, but I think the inventory has to be mostly mill ends, or the prices could never be this low. So don't expect the very newest fashions, but do expect good value for your projects.

It smelt like mothballs in there. You have to wash your fabric immediately once you get it because it stinks in there. All the styles of fabric were dusty and tough. Everything was overpriced and you are limited to an outdated selection of textiles and prints! The service was bad. Everybody has an attitude. I will never be back. Things have changed drastically at this store and it is not worth the hype.

You can never have too much time in fabric places. I liked this shop, good space for longarm machine and classes and a decent selection of fabric. I was oddly ignored when I came in and when I went to get my fabric cut. I heard and saw other people greeted and asked if they wanted their fabric cut. I stood for a while and then did one of those Yoohoo type deals. The woman was pleasant enough but it was strange to feel so invisible. It was fun to drop in on our way home but not worth a special trip. I did get some decent solids for an upcoming project and their solid selection was, well, solid!

This was our first venture into Soul Fire, and I took my 7yo granddaughter who is a wanna-be…read moreartist. We chose the Glass Fusing for a new experience and it was a hit! We made an appointment ahead of time and as soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by a lovely woman who spent good time explaining to us just how to safely work with glass, and not get cut or hurt in any way. The instructions are very in depth but necessary. When is was time to start the creative process, my granddaughter knew just what she wanted to create and loved selecting all the parts to make it just as she wanted. Start to finish was about 190 minutes, but it could be faster or slower, depending on how your creative juices flow. In the end she was thrilled with her project and we sprayed it to keep it in position for the transfer to the kilns. In 7-10 days I will return and pick up the final project. Our final cost for a 6" square art piece came to $40. We can't wait! The cost is not super cheap, but you know exactly what you are paying before you start. The supplies are endless and we plan to return for other activities as soon as possible. We saw entire families enjoying themselves, and this is a great activity to do with all ages, young children to adults. The options for art projects are: Paint Your Own Pottery, Glass Fusing, Acrylic Paint Projects and Board Art. The Clay Hand Building is now offered only in a class session. Stop in and take look. Then make an appointment for some really nice fun.

We decided on Christmas tree ornaments. Morgan got all our working tools and was very thorough in explaining how to cut the glass and told us if we needed any further help she would be happy to help. We then were able to create at our own will and speed. It was a Friday night at the end of the day and we were told to take our time and not feel rushed. You can order drinks to enjoy. The atmosphere was so comfortable and warm. You could paint or do pottery. So many things. I think we just started our new tradition to make a new ornament yearly. We had booked some open creating time. But you can register for any of the classes they offer as well. We will definitely be back. Everyone was helpful and kind. Can't say enough good things about the whole process from start to finish. Took about 7 days to have the project fired and ready for us to pick up. Our ornaments are beautiful on our tree.
