Been a customer for years. Experts in their field, hands down. Did you know that the TV series Face/Off was taped just blocks away? They were instrumental in the supply and, I think, the consultation/safety. If you have questions on your project, that's what they do...just make sure to give some detail (medium, wearable, etc.). I could walk around for hours here (probably did on my first visit) to view not only all the supplies but distracted by floor/wall adorned decorations they created and a dedicated customer display. Posted warning at the entrance of no children of a certain age and also an age limit to purchase. Attended a very cool seminar presented by Glen (45+ years experience) and Laura (very detailed and cautious). Both had so many tips and tricks with live demonstrations...I should have brought a notepad; others were much more proficient. Truly inspirational place and hub for our projects. Some of the items are exclusively sold at Reynolds Advanced Materials; they even have their own crafted stuff that are far superior in quality and inexpensive. Charming and creative, you'll be sure to find all your necessary materials here. They are very well stocked with everything you can think off. If you're into this kind of vibe, check out Nigel's and Frend's. Those are more specialty makeup and special fx cosmetics. But they share a similar classic Hollywood vibe. They were insanely helpful and informative and walked me around answering all my questions in detail. Store staff is really friendly and knowledgeable about how to use the products, and the quality of this kind of service is what you absolutely have to make the trip to the physical store to get. In particular, Alex at the front desk walked me through my entire project and suggested materials that would work. I don't have the experience that I felt I should have, but knowing there's people here at the store that I can consult gives me so much more confidence in starting with working with resins and urethanes. This is one of those places that looks quiet and unassuming on the outside. But once you walk in, you feel like you're on a movie set. All the 80's movie characters dear to my heart were represented in lifesize glory....Slimer from Ghostbusters. Alien from Alien. Carbonite-frozen Han from Empire Strikes Back. Arnold from Terminator. The artistry that resides here is extremely impressive. As to why I came here, I needed some materials for a project that I was working on. Before I went, I called and spoke to a very friendly lady who told me the product was in stock. When I got there, I spoke to a very friendly and highly knowledgeable gentleman who gave me more info on the product and advice for using it. All while being separated by plexiglass at the counter. They require gloves and a mask to enter but luckily they had a pack of gloves handily available to customers like myself who dutifully wears a mask but usually not gloves. Any business that is extra careful about safety gets high marks in my book. Great customer service, clean showroom, parking lot available, and the product I purchased was excellent. I wanted additional data regarding a casting process for one of my model building projects so I call the company hoping to receive guidance and was not disappointed. The employee I spoke with (on Thursday 19 January) patiently answered all of questions and alleviated the fear I may be buying an incorrect product. I called this store looking for something self leveling that did not take as long to cure as epoxy resin. I briefly explained my project and was told XTC-3D would be a good fit. I skimmed a YouTube video and excitedly headed to the store, driving from Santa Clarita. MIND. BLOWN. Upon entering the store. I was totally expecting a drab Dunn Edwards vibe, but this place is INCREDIBLE! The examples of product uses are phenomenal, and the customer service is unmatched. I went home and watched the full XTC-3D video I had previously skimmed and called the store back, to confirm I was understanding everything and had a good plan of action. Ricky was so sweet and took the time to reassure me and offered some pointers I never would have thought about as a newbie. I'm currently battling cancer and making things is such a positive outlet for me- I want to learn it all! One star customer service! You Jerks. I won't be going back here. You have to laugh at these businesses that put "Policy" over customers. I understand the time limits on returns because of unstable chemicals, but two days late? Their policy (actually one of the commandments) is 30-days return. I just had a $12 return at 32 days. I bicycled 10 miles in the heat to get there. "Sir, when we say 30 days that's it...no exceptions". I have a policy for them... FUCK YOU! By the way, their competition has taken returns from me in similar circumstances without issue. And the competition is now getting all my business from now on. In addition, their blue mold making silicone sucks! It fails prematurely by sticking to the casting even using mold release. Silicone at the competition is superior! Their epoxies have odd mix ratios that are almost impossible to get right unless you mix the whole kit. And you can't get the bubbles out. The competition has easy mix ratios and can be used a few ounces at a time and the bubbles always come out. Reynolds you can eat S**T and D** for all I care. They have an incredible selection of materials for most any project you could imagine. I used to build miniatures for feature films and puppets for robot chicken and now I'm doing my own sculpture projects. Even with over 20 years experience in the film industry, the staff has introduced me to new, excellent materials to work with. The showroom is full of beautiful work everywhere, including original pieces created by the staff so it's a fun place even just to go and browse as an artist. The store is super cool, but more importantly: The staff is immensely polite, knowledgeable, available to advise on the products. Sometimes professional stores can be intimidating, but I felt like the staff here was willing to help a beginner get started, or give tips to a seasoned professional. I visited the showroom again last week, and 'Glenn' was the recipient of a billion rapidfire questions, all which he not only answered, but made me feel like I wasn't an outsider... he treated me like part of the casting community, and gave me professional tips and advice on how to make my project come to life. And he knew SO MUCH... He was a repository of useful information on the products, and he rides a Ducati... What else could a company desire in a product specialist. I contacted around 20 manufacturers before coming in contact with Reynolds, most of these other manufacturers were rude and brushed me off or didn't even bother responding. Not only did Reynolds have the products I was looking for, their customer service was absolutely outstanding. The representative I spoke with, Glenn Hansen, was extremely knowledgable about all the products and answered every question I had! He was even able to give me some tips to use in 3D printing! They just moved into a newer, larger space, so make sure you have the address on Lincoln! They have everything you need for practical effects work. I have to knock this place down a star. A few days ago I bought some products, and then I needed to return some items and exchange them for something else. The product was around $85.00, and I decided I did not need that much of it, so I was going to exchange it for 3 smaller products. When I went to return it, I got hit by a 20% restocking fee. That turned out to be $17 that got flushed down the drain. So when I decided to get the three items that were about the same price as the original item, I had to dig out some more cash to give this place. I mean I literally bought the first product on Monday, and on Wednesday I went back to exchange it, totally unopened. Needless to say I think that this policy stinks. read more

I had a really great experience here today. I've come often to buy supplies and am usually in and out because I know what I need, but today required a little more research & development into new materials. The staff was friendly and patient in answering my questions. I had some very technical and "sciencey" inquiries, and they all had a prompt and thorough response. When I asked if they had any samples of cured materials that I could use for reference for future job R&D, they gave me a bag and offered that I could fill it up from their wall that has samples of literally everything they sell. Probably close to a hundred samples, and all free of charge. After check out, the manager personally walked me out with my purchases to my car (which was down the block) during which we had a nice conversation that wasn't even related to special effects or chemicals, just as two people. I'm nobody important, I don't have much clout in the entertainment business. I'm just a working guy who's been doing special effects for about 20 years who they treated exemplary. read more

I had a dream to cast the concrete curb that Exene Cervanka and John Doe of the L.A. punk bands X scribed their initials in back in 1980. It still exists in front of their former West Hollywood apartment. I live in Fort Lauderdale and planned this trip to every last detail. Very simply, if you are in the FX (or maybe even the dental biz) industry, you can't get better for your mild-making and sculpting materials needs than Reynolds. The staff are materials experts and were very helpful in recommending materials and techniques to get me a great result. They have classes there periodically. Took one on zombie wound and skin effects and it was a lot of fun. Plus it was free! The materials are a lot less expensive than buying the "dental" equivalents, and give me the same effects in the end. This is my go-to place for silicones, epoxies, etc. Hands down a 5 star place. Parking is in a private lot in the back, but there are also some spots in the front on meters. It's on a corner and if you're not looking close you can drive right past it if you don't keep an eye open. read more

It's very neat and organized, with samples of almost every (if not every single) product they sell on display on the corresponding rack or a nearby wall. The staff was all very sweet and so helpful. Amazing store! I love visiting this store because they have the highest quality plastics and foam materials you can find anywhere. Smooth-on products are amazing, and they carry them locally so you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping. Don't expect to pay little here, all the materials and supplies are rather expensive, but that's because you're paying for quality materials. The quality is definitely worth the money. So if you're on a tight budget and don't want to pay a lot, I recommend going somewhere else - but if you're ready to pay for high quality materials this is the place for you. They have samples/examples all over the walls which are examples of their products, which is really useful. They have sample swatches for you to take for free to get an idea of what kind of material you may need for your project. The employees are extremely helpful and very friendly. The first time I visited this store they basically gave me a one hour run down on silicone molding and resin casting, and I've been addicted to the process ever since!
