There's several cafes and restaurants within 5-10 minute walking distance. You could visit the State Capitol. Forewarning: You're going to pay, at minimum, $600 for an adult bike. Even a kid's bike starts at $350... If you need extra parts and accessories, I would recommend you buy them off of Amazon or somewhere cheaper. To give you an example: a tire pump here is over $100.

I searched high and low online, and figured I needed a tube liner that protects against those hard short thorns. I decided to give this place a shot. Came in and they recommended tube liner, and a thicker tube. They showed me how to cut the corners off the liner, along with tapering them, and overlap them, so it doesn't rub against the tube and create a flat. Also, gave me a short tutorial on how to install them, I had read some people really struggle with it. The tubes I got were REALLY thick and heavy. The install of the liner and new thick tubes went off without a hitch, very simple, even a caveman could do it. 2 weeks later, no flats, even after finding up to 5 thorns in the tire one day. Appreciate all the advice, even advising my son take a different route, and stay off of anything that needs water to live. Thank you!

Luckily, it ended up being something minor, so they fixed it for me right there on the spot. They also helped me pick out a new bike seat since the one that came with my bike was extremely uncomfortable, and they even installed it for me. Since my bike is brand new and was already having issues, they gave me advice on how I could possibly get the repair cost reimbursed through the place I bought it from, which I really appreciated. On top of all that, they gave me a pamphlet with a bunch of local bike trails to check out. Overall, I had a really great experience and really appreciated how friendly and helpful Tim and Kevin were. I'll definitely be coming back if I need anything else for my bike!

I live in Midtown Sacramento, 6 blocks from Mikes Bikes Who have been very good over the years, but…read moreexpensive. I decided to give Natomas Bike a shot, as I like to support small businesses. My past two visits however have put me off ever dealing with them again, in particular because of the owner John. I recently needed my brakes tightened, and the derailleurs needed attention as I was unable to drop into the lower gear. I left it with them, was quoted $50 , and came in to collect it 4 days later. $50 all of a sudden became $60 when John found the bill. I paid with comment, but as we were leaving the store I noticed that the rear tire was flat, and I brought to his attention immediately. I pointed out to him that this had happened to me the last time I brought my bike in. He then became very defensive, but offered to replace the tube, at my cost, I said I'd be back in 2 hours. It wasn't ready two hours later, and he became defensive, and I felt as if he was blaming me. Another $20 later, I then tested the bike in the lot, and the gear problem was still there, it had not been fixed. I was so livid by this point I didn't want to take the bike back to him, and face more confrontation. I've been in Customer Service all my working life, over 40 years, and his customer disservice has brought me here to warn others on what to expect. I'm taking my bike back to Mikes in future. It may cost me more, but at least they treat me courteously and get the job done first time.

I've recently been riding a bike that was passed down to me. It's an 80's road bike. Its my first…read moretime riding a bike since my old BMX bike from my middle school days. I'm in my 20s now and know absolutely zilch about bikes. My chain snapped and I brought it into the bike kitchen. I paid $10 cash for the shop fee and immediately a volunteer helped me mount up my bike and get to work. He was so welcoming and fun to work with. We evaluated whether or not my chain was salvageable, and decided we should take a few links from a chain in the back, and add it to mine. It was only $3, and from there he taught me everything about repairing a chain. He was so nice and helpful, I used the tools and he kept watch to make sure I was doing it right. Sometimes that can be stressful, but he made sure it was a fun environment and we laughed almost the whole time. I could not recommend this place more. For them, its really just about the bikes. It felt amazing to fix it myself, and learn something about my bicycle. The volunteer also helped inspect my bike to make sure nothing else needed fixing. He explained it like, "you already paid the shop fee, lets see what else we can do". I hope I learn enough to volunteer here one day. Truly a 10/10 experience.

SBK is focused on making cycling affordable and accessible while teaching bike maintenance and safety classes to help people become more independent riders. Later, I received an email from Velofix saying the time was actually 11 AM-1 PM, but I didn't notice the change right away. On the morning of the appointment, I called Velofix to clarify, and the representative told me it was too late to adjust anything and that I should've contacted them earlier. I let it go and agreed to keep the 11-1 window, rearranging my work schedule to be available. No one showed up. At 1:30 PM, I had to call my wife to let her know, and she followed up with Velofix -- only to be told the case had been closed because the service was "out of scope." No one informed me. I was literally on the phone with them that same morning and they said nothing about not coming. This whole experience showed a complete lack of communication and disregard for people's time. I won't be using Velofix again and wouldn't recommend them.

Don't even get me started on the attitude of the shop workers at Mike's Bikes in Folsom. SO RUDE. From booking the appointment to the actual service (by Wayne) the experience with Velofix was very friendly and professional and easy. Not to mention their rates were comparable to the shops where we had to haul the bikes in ourselves. To have the service come to you, have it fixed in under an hour, and everyone to be friendly about it? I didn't think this was possible! Also, after the last flat tire repair, where the shop had the bike for weeks, the bike did not sound the same. According to Wayne, whoever put our bike back together didn't do it properly and there were a ton of loose nuts etc. which I 100% believe because the bike did not sound the same when we were riding it. Wayne tightened all that stuff up for us (thanks Wayne!). Anyway, all around a great experience and we know who will be getting our business from now on. Also, to anyone researching bike repair places, I highly recommend looking on the bike manufacturer's website to see their recommended repair shops. Velofix was recommended by Rad Bikes and you can really tell the difference when someone is comfortable working with a particular bike brand.
