They were participating at the Yelp event tonight at the Cranberry farmer's market. I've always wanted to try this food truck...ummm trailer. So tonight I was able to sample a nice portion of the Godfather. I loved it. Cornbread in the bottom of the bowl was great, the chili was tasty, a little fresh lime, jalapeños and spices. I would highly recommend. I spent too much time walking around and seeing what all was there and by the time I went back to get dinner from them, they were closed. I stopped by here a couple of Thursday evenings ago with my wife for dinner. Our neighborhood had signed up a number of food trucks to come on Thursdays and this Thursday happened to be Revival Chili. Since it's a food truck, there's not too much to say about it although it was a little different from the usual ones since it was pulled along behind a truck but other than that, looked like the usual one. There was a single worker in the truck and he was wearing a mask. By the time we got to the front of the line they were out of both the classic chili and the spicy chili and so the only chili options were chicken and vegetarian. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the chicken con chili and my wife did as well. Within a couple minutes of ordering my wife and I had our bowls and were headed home. Our bowls consisted of a bed a rice, the chili, sour cream, cheese, lime and cilantro. Whenever I first tasted it I was surprised but pleased at how spicy it was since the menu didn't mention it. Beyond the heat it had a good flavor to it and I appreciated the cooling effect that the sour cream had on it. While I was initially concerned about the size of the bowl, thinking that it was small, I had to admit that I was full by the time I was done eating it. My wife also ended up enjoying her chili as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Revival Chili was located outside of Biddles Escape last night. It was my first time trying it and I loved it. They have 3 different types of chili and then they had a couple of specials. I ordered the quesadilla with the classic beef chili in it. It took a bit longer to prepare but I had no where to be so I didn't mind the wait. My quesadilla was amazing. It was 4 pieces too which I thought was a decent sized portion. I would love to try one of their spicy chilis in the future. The classic beef gets a thumbs up. Will be back! read more

Revival Chili has been at a few locations near by when I couldn't try and have heard how tasty the chili is. Finally, had the opportunity to try and had The Godfather bowl which they list as Thatsa spicy that has spicy beef & pork chili, cornbread (the were out of rice that day, so no rice) topped with cheese, sour cream, lime, jalapeño, cilantro and chips. The cornbread was on the bottom and could be mixed in with the other ingredients. Yes, it was spicy and delicious. One of the best chili bowls I have eaten. Chili Food Truck - no beans in the chili what an interesting concept!! I had the special which was a combination of beef and chili. Accompanied by nacho chips, sour cream, cheddar cheese, jalapenos, and cornbread at the bottom. .. two size options. Its worth getting the larger size for $9.00 I believe. It was flavorful and expected it to be high in sodium but still was ok. I love spicy/hot food and it was just right ..not too overbearing. I could have had it a little hotter. I am guessing since there was no beans it seemed to be little bit on the pasty side? Which isn't a bad thing just different texture is all. There was a little pop up tent for those that were waiting in line - which was a nice touch I thought. OMG!!!!!!!!! Ok so the guys with this truck actually live a two minute walk from me. However today is the first time we've been able to visit them and they're at Deutschtown Musical Festival. They are so much more than chili because they offer opportunities to ex-felons to work and eventually have their own trucks. Delicious food for an amazing cause. The chili is so good you guys!! It's the closest to authentic Texas-style chili I've had outside of Texas. It doesn't look like you're getting much when they hand you the bowl but trust me it's filling! The chili is served with either rice or cornbread. I opted for the rice. Seriously I can't say enough good things about this food. Do yourself a favor. Find them and become a patron. Revival Chili is my absolute favorite food truck and I always try to track them down when they're near me. This past week they were parked at Northland Library, so I decided to swing by and get a bowl. I got the traditional beef chili served over cornbread, which was topped with cheese, sour cream, and chips. The chili was flavorful but not spicy (they do have spicy varieties) which is exactly what I wanted. The bowl was $9 and was filling, which was perfect for a meal. The food was decent but service wasn't great.. the food is also pretty expensive for what it is.

TL:DR - I would travel in the bitter cold to have this again, and I've never been a fan of Chili. I'll be honest: I was fully prepared to take down some "decent" food to support a good cause (read about that on their site) - and I've never been the type to crave chili even on the most frigid days. But it only took 1 person to come back to the office with an absolutely loaded bowl of chili with cornbread, rice, tortilla chips, sour creme and cheese before the entire office was bearing the frigid temps to hustle over to the parking lot where the Revival Chili truck was parked. These are more like platters or chili bowls than cups/bowls of chili. The meat varieties are nearly all (if not all) meat. I plan to make my way through them all, but today I went with the spicy chicken chili on top of rice, with chips, cheese, and sour creme. It is spicy - not uncomfortably so, but there's pronounced flavor and heat. If you're particularly sensitive to that sort of thing, just ask for a recommendation to moderate. I've heard the classic beef is more mild - I'll report back after trying. The Gluten Free crowd will appreciate the ample options and obvious signage, my only wish is that a gluten free cornbread becomes available soon enough. If not, the place is already better than good, and well worth visiting. read more

Generous portion with a nice presentation. Interesting putting cornbread on the bottom of the bowl. While the taste wasn't too bad, the chili itself was kind of weird. It reminded me of Taco Bell meat that is basically pulverized. To me chili is a little soupy at least which this wasn't. read more

I've had Revival Chili twice now. I'll be honest--I'm not a huge fan of their chili. The classic beef chili has far too much cinnamon for my liking. The Godfather, which is spicy pork and beef, was so spicy it absolutely blew my lid off, and I can handle my spice well. Additionally, both times I got it and brought it back to my apartment, which is maybe a 60 second trip, it was pretty lukewarm. Really yummy! I love that they offer vegan/vegetarian options. Get the cornbread (vegetarian) - its homemade! I liked all of the toppings on mine. This chili has a cinnamon/sweet flavor that I'm not used to (but I like). The jalapeños help add some spice. I highly recommend! read more

The Revival Food Truck was at Biddles Escape recently and I did the build your own bowl. I got the chicken chili with cilantro and lime and cornbread on the side. I will say it was a generous portion for a bowl. However it was way too spicy for me and I was only able to eat 1/3 of it and took the rest home (we ate at the coffee shop). Even though it says spicy I wasn't expecting that level of spice. I'm afraid what the spicy beef which has 2 peppers next to it would taste like! read more

With every bite there was some new flavor! The food truck stopped in the North side and I was so excited to give Revival a try. The menu had classic beef and also chicken. Suprisingly the chicken was not white chili. But even more surprising, none of the chili had beans! Guys, they give samples! It's a thick, flavorful, heavily spiced, meat chili. Its pretty delicious. I think what did it for me is the layers. Corn bread on bottom, covered by chili, topped with sour cream and cheese, and tortilla chips to dip. WOW! This review is coming from someone who always found chili to be so-so, you know, a kind-of cool-weather comfort food. I tried Revival Chili and was so incredibly pleasantly surprised. I had a mix of chicken and beef chili, and it was fantastic. Flavors that I have never had in chili. On top of cornbread with various garnishes. And the portion size was quite generous. I couldn't stop eating it, even though I was well beyond full. It was just so good! And, the truck stands out -- it looks like a cute little house. DO experience this chili, if you get the chance. Revival Chili started serving chili around Pittsburgh just a few weeks ago, and I came across them at Pitt's Farmers Market serving lunch. They update their website and social media with upcoming events. The trailer looks like a small house, and it's made of recycled material wherever possible. The people running the truck were friendly, welcoming, and gracious. They offer a variety of chilis with different meats and spice levels, including vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. A cup is $5, a bowl is $9. Chili dogs were also available for $5. A more detailed menu is available on their website. I went with a cup of the classic chili, which came topped with cheese and sour cream with a piece of cornbread. It was thick and comforting, especially for a rainy day. I would try a spicy chili next time for some more flavor. The cornbread was nice and moist. For me, the cup portion is somewhere between a snack and a light meal. Although I would rate the food as average, the people running the cart gave me a great experience. Revival Chili is dedicated to creating job opportunities for ex-convicts, which is a fantastic cause. I look forward to visiting them again! read more

Terrible taste for a chili and price too high for a terrible chili. I will never eat at this food truck again. Taste was just awful. If you ever had chili before in your life I suggest you never have this to ruin it for you. I love chili and would eat it everyday if I could. Just not revival chili, that would be torture. I couldn't even finish eating it and had to toss. They need to look up chili recipes again and start over bc the concept is one I like just not the product. I've had the beef and chx separately. Both are good, but the combo is superior. I found the vegan/veggie chili only ok. I thought I liked chili before, but WOW I can't get enough of THIS chili!!!! It has a different flavor than you'd expect, some cinnamon and other spices that I wouldn't have thought to put in chili, but it works so so well. This is the only thing I want to eat on a cold day. Not to mention the food truck supports the awesome cause of helping previously incarcerated individuals find a job and helps them eventually start their own business!
