Revel Blue Taxi arrived on time and our driver seemed polite and nice. I know it was a late afternoon flight so we can understand the delay in the expected airport arrival. The driver wasn't chatty which was not a problem but I felt he didn't have familiarity with the city shortcuts, we were stocked on the streets and just stayed with the flow. It took us an hour and 45 minutes to get to EWR from Manhattan using the regular route; he didn't bother to find a way to keep us moving, during our journey. Our car also had some physical defects, the covers on the left side ceiling is falling off which could have been glued easily by anyone. Despite such imperfections, I sti gave our driver a 10 percent tip for his efforts, a nice guy who took us to the airport in his own way. However, I just hope that the company do something to fix these issues and re-train their drivers better and more decisive in firing way to move their passengers to their target location during traffic scenarios. read more

CAR WITH NO A/C There's a "feels like" temperature of 103 in NYC today and the car HAD NO A/C. When we asked the driver if he had AC earlier today, he said no, but it worked yesterday. He should've never been picking up passengers today in this heat. If somebody with compromised health got in that car it could've became a very serious incident and your company would have been held liable. Within 1 minute of being in the car and establishing that it did not have A/C, we asked the driver to stop and let us out. I immediately ordered a Lyft and made a complaint via text (per company policy) as well as asked for a full refund. The company refuses to refund any portion (offered $10 off next ride.... Was in NYC for the first time this past October. Went with my husband, brother in law and his wife. We were slated to be in NY for 4 nights and 5 days. For 3 days we used the Subway to get around. Paid for the $7 pass that was I think $32. Was well worth it. Then on Monday when we crossed the Brookyn bridge and was walking about Dumbo we stumbled upon a parked Revel bike. Curiousity got the best of us and we Googled it. Then a decision was made because the husbands couldn't help themselves. So they both downloaded the app....took the mini course...uploaded their CDL's and the plans were a brewing. On our last full day in NYC we decided we had paid our transportation dues by getting our fill of the subway station and was time to really clock in some mileage! Once you download the app it shows you a map and shows you where you can pick up your scooter. They seat 2 pretty comfortably but noticed that the black ones felt more padded than the blue ones so if you can score a black one then do it, especially if you will be using it for the day and have a 2nd rider. The neat thing is these things are placed all over the place and let's not even start with the efficiency of being able to park anywhere. I think the only real issue is finding one that has enough charge for what you need to do. We had plans to use it all day. We went through 2 of them before we found one that was charged at about 80%. if you opt for an all day use, it was $42. SCORE! I'm glad we did a few days seeing the City via the Subway, on foot and by ferry but seeing the City via the scooter was a different vantage point and glad we did it. We covered so much ground and saw so much and had a blast doing so. They offer helmets in which you must take a a selfie and send as proof. They go decently fast and like I said can be parked wherever a car can park without the need for as much space as a car..so convenient. So if it is your first time do get the hang of the Subway and graduate to these. read more

I ordered a ride and got a text from the driver 10 minutes before pickup saying he was unable to get to my pickup in time. He told me to cancel the ride and reschedule one and I would be assigned a new driver. I did so and the quote for the ride went from $52 to $78. I did not accept and I took the subway to the airport. I was charged a $6 cancellation charge which I asked to have reversed. Revel told me that the ride was ineligible for a refund according to their refund policy. From reading reviews, it appears that Revel does things like cancelling intentionally to raise the price of the ride at the last minute when a person is desperate to get somewhere. I used to have a moped when I was about 26 years old and I loved that little thing! It was super slow (went about 25mph tops on flat ground, 31-32 going downhill) but kept me smiling the entire time. I didn't require insurance, only required a driver's license and moped license plates, and garnered the curious attention of more people than a new car. Unfortunately, on one fateful day, while cruising down an empty road, a stranger completely blew a stop sign and wiped me out pretty good. Both my moped and I were pretty banged up but eventually, after about a month or so, I fully recovered. I was lucky but my moped on the other hand (a classic 1976 Sachs Commuter that was a pristine garage find), was pretty mangled and never saw the outside my folks garage again. I write about my old Sachs because it's been about 6 years since I felt the joy of riding slow and steady on 2 motorized wheels, that is, up until yesterday. I saw a buddy post on social media about GoRevel, which is basically, the uber of electric mopeds. My mom was using my car for the day and since I had a couple of business meetings scheduled for the day, I decided to show up in style. I decided to get back on the horse, I mean, the moped, and signed up on the GoRevel app. It literally took only 10 minutes (5 of which was spend waiting for the confirmation email that says I've been approved), and I was on my way. You fire up the app, find a moped near you, and you're on your way. I didn't realize at the time but like my old moped, they only go 25mph max as well (unless on a downhill). Two helmets are included, in case you have a passenger, and they do a great job of offering secure head protection while also providing a visor shield which helps against both bugs, wind debris, and the wind itself. The rides only cost .25/mile (first mile free so you can adjust mirrors, helmet, etc) and .10/mile when passing the ride (stopping in a store, grabbing something from home, etc). During one leg of my trip, I traveled from Great Neck (using only local roads) to Fresh Meadows, which took less than 25 minutes and only spent about $8 (I paused for a bit). It was waay cheaper than an Uber, a bit more "dangerous" but a lot more fun. If taking local roads, you will be going above the speed limit most of the time but be assured, people will often want to pass you. While it is wise to let them pass you, the GoRevel is a DOT approved vehicle so if you ride one of these or any other DOT approved vehicle, don't ever feel the need to ride in the far right side of the right line or the bike lane. Sure, riding in the right lane is fine but make sure you take the entire line, otherwise folks might move in and put you in a precarious position, unnecessarily. Really bad customer service. The cars are more expensive than their competitors, and the wait times are longer and never accurate. I requested a car and was told the driver would be there in 10 minutes. I went outside at the 2 minute mark, when I got a message saying my driver had been "upgraded" and they would be there in 10 minutes. I'd already waited 10 minutes, it was late, and I just wanted to go home. So I cancelled, hired a Lyft which arrived in 2 minutes and went home. Later, I get a notification that I was charged a $5 cancellation fee. Clearly their software is automated, and no one pays any attention to it. This is the 3rd time I've received a cancellation fee after their changing the driver etc. If you complain they'll refund your $5. But if you don't, they'll leave the charge on your card. I started using Revel cars when they were first available. I understand having some growing pains, but this crap has gone on for over a year now. I've tried to talk with someone but you can only email to text. Neither are very helpful as they don't look at your history or what you're actually complaining about. I did ask that they delete all of my data and my account but of course they want a copy of my signature with a letter saying to remove my account/data, an updated copy of my drivers license and one other piece of ID. Not worth it. They can keep my data in their database until they fold. Never again, and no, I do NOT recommend this company. read more

Other ride shares show the total cost up front and not add hiden fees. This is an alternative to the more popular rideshare apps in New York (although I believe they are slowly expanding) that uses clean and comfortable Tesla's. I didn't have a problem with the drivers although they weren't overly friendly and I'll tell you I did leave my phone in the car with my wallet it was put back in safekeeping. My problem was with a customer service hotline when I used their cars I called we have the text to prove that they told us it would be returned to me within 24 hours into them back. They never said that we would have to go to a holding lot if they had it there if and when, the second time I called and I asked about that they said oh well we can't even tell you where it is because we don't want to tell you and is there when I confirmed where my phone was located because I have been tracking it all day. It was an iPhone. Oh yes it's fair. They confirmed it. I could've picked it up 12 hours prior but he told me no I couldn't because it was midnight. Yes I could've. Then he proceeded the customer service rep for them to tell me not to call again and inundate their line with phone calls because he had give me all the information that was necessary. I hope no one does business with them because they have two and half a pot promo that's not worth it because it cost me over $100 to get this phone back and whoever had the phone I can't say it was driver. Not a Revel user but def have been affected by their terrible clients and horrific parking. Most users DO NOT follow parking guidelines and wedge the scooters wherever they can. According to Revel they are supposed to park no less than 2ft from the nearest vehicle and this user parked the scooter between my car and the one parked in front of me (scooter was not there at the time that I parallel parked between both vehicles). The parking space was snug enough without the scooter and this user just threw a wrench in the mix. Whilst trying not to damage Revel's scooter or hit the car behind me, I ended up breaking the casing for my tail light and scratching my rear bumper with a tree that slightly protruded from the sidewalk. Please note, I was not even hitting the gas, just taking my foot of the break. Submitted a claim and Revel handed over the case to The Hartford Claims. I had to call and leave a voicemail for them to even contact me. The woman who took my case had zero communication with me except for when she took my testimony and got a letter in the mail rejecting my claim. User of the scooter gets to walk away with no repercussions. I'm beyond disappointed in the whole experience Revel needs to be responsible for the actions of their clients and should have parking hubs and better strategies in place to avoid future problems. I had to catch a flight from JFK. was travelling from the Hamptons via bus to get off at the Queens airport connection. I timed my Revel ride to arrive 15 minutes after my bus dropped off so that the driver wouldn't wait on me, and gave me enough time to make the rest of the trip to the airport. I booked it 6 hours in advance to secure my ride. 2 minutes before disembarking the bus, I got a message that my ride was cancelled due to no cars. I tried a few more times once I was off the bus and would give me no cars available. I was past my time I would have been picked up. Über was available but would be too late for getting me and over to the airport. I had to take a private taxi that cost me $85 that I had been quoted $30 by Revel. I don't know if I will risk trying them again. Hopefully this will not happen to anyone else. read more

I do park at the end of the oneway street. Since that is the only area where I can park close to the work place to do not get a ticket. But I do not drive down that street. In defense of Revel: (Love / Hate Relationship) There are people on here literally complaining about getting a ticket 21 hours later. Well, how is that possible when Revel clearly states in their contract that you MUST park on a street where at least 24 hours of parking is available. So that means you can't park on the side that clearly says "No Parking Tuesday 8am to 9am" if it's presently Monday at 11:30am - because if you do, and no one comes to rent that bike - it will get a ticket in the morning. You are responsible for 24 hour parking availability by finding a space to support that rule. Not hard at all. This is an important rule that you must be a native NYer or at least a driver to understand. But I know you can do it! These bikes are convenient and relieve us riders of so much stress. I've been owning cars and driving in Manhattan for 20 years or more. It has become increasingly more difficult to find parking and enjoy owning a car here. Our self-centered narcissistic, sell out politicians have made the city a literal prison - police state - where if you're not being pulled over and babysat by bored police every day, you're suffering from an inability to find or afford parking. NYC has become very hostile toward basic freedoms, like driving - especially the idiotic, entitled people who walk in front of your car staring at their cell phones night and day. Revel is a life saver where "easy & convenient transportation" is concerned. Parking's very easy. Running errand's are easy. It's affordable (less than an hour) but can get crazy expensive if your runs/errands last too long. WHY I HATE REVEL. They need to be more restrictive like rental car companies. Stop renting to the ignorant, energetic, wild, young males who like to break every rule ever created to keep us safe. They not only destroy the mopeds, run them down and disrespect the people they are sharing the roads (& mopeds) with - they make it very likely that one day we'll all suffer because of Revel's relaxed rental program. Make it EXCLUSIVE. REQUIRE BIG DEPOSITS TO JOIN - CLUB IT - just don't let them ruin it for us or your company! That's also how you can get rid of credit card scammers & narcissists who rent the mopeds. This is a sharing economy. We need to be selective with members. Your customer service sucks. Working from home or anywhere is possible now. Hire someone to answer in less than 44 minute on hold. Remember, we're on our dying cell phones trying to reach you & it's not like you added a charging component to your mopeds. I was stuck in the rain with my wallet locked in the trunk accidentally - but I couldn't get in - on hold with one bar for 35 minutes !! Stop canceling reservations when we're a few minutes late. At that point we lose the bike and have to search all over for another and end up late to dental appointments or wherever. Take a holding fee but stop the sh*t. Mostly, Revel is the best thing ever. Haters are going to hate because some NYers are very entitled miserable people. Instead of wishing Revel to hell or hoping they run out of business, advocate for more exclusive membership standards so responsible users can continue to enjoy this new found transportation freedom. If you use their scooters keep an eye out for previous parking tickets on the scooter from other users. Revel will think YOU got them and pin the fee on you. Tried to get my account unsuspended but customer service was zero help. Refused to issue a refund for even my initial background check. Bummer, I loved their scooters. Spent over $300 read more

I WAS CHARGED $65 FOR A PARKING TICKET THAT OCCURRED 21 HOURS LATER. YES, 21 HOURS LATER. To put it simply. You will get charge no matter what if the revel gets a ticket in the next 24 hours YES 24 hours after you parked it. That's a long time to be responsible for a moped. I perfectly legally parked on February 24th at 11.30 am and the revel got a ticket on February 25th at 8.30 am. THAT'S 21 hours later THE NEXT DAY come on. If you are ok with that kind of responsibility then no problem. For me, I was very disappointed with Revel's robot-like customers service. The fact that they choose to blindly enforce rules without thinking rather than just using good judgment is beyond me. YES have that rule in your policy but NO don't just enforce it without thinking "is that fair" or "is it unreal to hold customers responsible for what happens the next day" or even "yes 21 hours is cutting it short let's be honest" Be honest with your customers be realistic of what you are offering and work with the city to make your service more in sync with BROOKLYN transport/parking system. Your customers should not be responsible for what happens to the mopped the next day this is unrealistic. NOBODY can watch over the moped overnight nor move it in the morning at 8 am to fit the street cleaning schedule. read more

Not cheap really unless you have a coupon that they will honor. I got burned. When I got the app I put in the promotion I was sent by a user and the app said "credit accepted" but the credit was not posted to my account so it never was applied. I called customer service to get the credit applied and they refused to do it. The woman was rude - a real piece of work. Now here is a company trying to increase its ridership in a crowded market. They have 300 cars in NYC. Uber has like 7000. You would expect Customer service to be great putting the customer first but not here. They refused to let me speak to a manager saying nothing could be done for me. I have used Uber whenever I am in NYC and their customer service is great correcting problems and errors. I am going back to Uber until this service gets their act together and demonstrates that customer service should put the customer first. After all you do not build your brand with poor and nasty customer service. The driver was nice and car was comfortable but the customer service puts Revel to shame. Give them about 5 years and if they survive then think about using. Otherwise use Uber or Lyft or a NYC cabbie. read more

Amazing way to get around Queens and Brooklyn. Unfortunately can be in high demand in Astoria where I live because people take them to the train stations at the northern and southern tips. Otherwise very easy to use, affordable, and flexible compared to other transit options in the bustling city. Got hited by the mopeds on Brooklyn bridge after work 10/23/2021. The mopeds was heading to manhattan from Brooklyn . And I was from Manhattan side to Brooklyn .The moped was on the opposite side of the bike path. There was a couple on the mopeds without wearing the helmet. My scooter is damaged and both of my hand is hurt. The rider ran away before the police come over when he see the situation is not right. Also these mopeds are not supposed to be on the bridge and the riding area is only in Brooklyn and Long Island city. Their insurance company told me they can not cover my medical fee and the damaged of my scooter, even though their company can find out the user of the revel account. Already talk to my lawyer to follow up the case. read more

First time renting a Revel Moped ( Not my first time riding one). Unfortunately, the Revel Moped had some issues with the throttle I had no idea about prior to renting. I noticed the throttle was bit intermittent from the beginning, but I just assumed it was a used and abused rental. During my ride the scooter would leave me stranded at a green light with cars beeping and aggressively driving around me. On my way back to my car, I was in the middle of a turn and the scooter has Zero Throttle response. Then all of a sudden it kicked back on again. Sending me towards a parked car which I luckily missed, by grabbing the break and swinging to the right. The scooter was perfectly fine. But, I scraped my knee and my right arm. I called Revel to let them know what happened and to remove that dangerous scooter from the streets. They asked me some questions and was told they would look into it. I was told I was temporarily banned from the app, until I completed a course provided by them. Complete disregard that the scooter was poorly maintained and could potentially cause further harm to someone else. They could have reimbursed me for my ride or have given me some other incentive to keep me as a customer. This company does not care and will continue to operate as such. Stay away. read more

The people who rent these scooters cause the road to be very unsafe. Driving on the opposite side of the road to avoid traffic, running lights and stop signs. Nearly causing accidents all the time. My first few rides were fine. Then, 4 rides in a row, I have been unable to take a ride after reserving it. In one case, there were no helmets. In the other cases, the battery was below 10% and the scooter would not start. In all cases I attempted to call customer service but got put on hold indefinitely. I got charged anyway, so I reported a problem in the app - no response. I sent an email and got an automatic reply but that was 10 days ago with no follow up. The most recent was the worst. I started the ride, but the scooter showed 7% battery and would not start. When I attempted to end the ride it said it was outside the parking zone, even though I had not moved it, so I had to abandon the ride. Calls to customer service are pointless - nobody picks up. Now I'm forced to dispute all the credit card charges. Once I've done that I'm deleting the app. read more
