My regular Pratt service had no available cabs for the past 2 hours so I yelped and called this place. Answered my questions without rushing me. Fare was 2 dollars higher than Pratt but I that's how it goes aye. The highs: Pick up was on time. Nice spacious CLEAN cab despite it being a wet day. Courteous driver. Good driving (not too fast or slow) Not talkative (so I can write this review) Arrived at my destination safely and on time. No lows. The End. read more

I was in Brooklyn NY on Friday, October 20th and Dekalb Car Service was highly recommended to me. I called and reserved their service to take me from Medgar Evers College to Penn Station. I was told that the fare was $40 to which i agreed to pay. The driver arrived on time and took me to Penn Station where I quickly produced my credit card to pay him. The driver flew into rage mode and demanded cash as this company does not deal in credit cards. No one advised me that it was cash only and while I tried to explain this the driver was Hispanic and seemingly spoke very very limited english. all that I could discern was that i rode knowingly that it was cash, and I did not have the money. there were no signs in his car announcing that this was cash only. he attempted to seize my laptop to get his money...the ride was $40 and I had $30 but his rage grew, and he parked his car and kept saying ATM. He talked to the local field NYPD who also spoke Spanish and left his car unattended to insist that i walk until i found an atm. the first one i found was broken; i kept walking with him on my heels speaking in Spanish and i growing more fearful because he was behind me. I finally found an atm, got $20 and asked for my $10 back in exchange for the $20 but he refused and got a 22% tip for horrific and terrifying service. I have no receipt for my $50 and cannot file a claim to be reimbursed. Grateful to have my life so the loss of $50 is really a small price to pay. I would never ever use this service again. Furthermore, I strongly have recommended that the elected official who recommended this company never use them again for any reason not even a dire emergency. I recognize that a few companies may deal in cash only but how unsafe is it to transport people and have cash on them jeopardizing lives and creating the likelihood that these employees will be robbed! Perhaps this company should reevaluate their procedures as trips can be in excess of $100 and who travels with that much cash on hand? My yellow cab trip to the college was $91 and the driver gladly accepted my credit card. read more

I found Dekalb car service online. They advertise that they take reservations for car service to the airports, and have decent reviews. I have used many other car services around Brooklyn, and thought that I would give them a shot. I have and AirBnB and called to reserve a car for my guests for a 4am pickup to get to LGA for a 6:30 international flight. I get a frantic call from my guests at 4:15am saying no car has arrived. NBD, I call the service. NO RECORD OF MY RESERVATION. So I say, hey, fine, just et us a car ASAP. They say five minutes. 10 minutes later, no car. I call again. Hey were is our car? Five minutes away, they say. WTF. Okay. Five minutes, I tell my now-frantic guests. ANOTHER 10 MINUTES LATER I get a call from the driver. He says he'll be there in 5 minutes. OMGWTF. ANOTHER 10 minutes later, he finally shows up. 4am became 4:45 and now my guests might not make their flight. Yeah, I'm going back to Arecibo. Sorry, guys. read more

This review is not for the car ride because I couldn't even get to that. This review is just for their customer service over the phone. I called to get a quote to LaGuardia. The girl asked for my address and then said to hold. I waited 10 minutes! She came on the phone and asked what I needed. Again, a quote to LaGuardia. She replied "hold on, my phone is ringing." I'm thinking I'm on the phone with you now, give me a price. Jeez! After another 15 minutes on hold, they hung up on me. Just terrible customer service. Maybe their rides are on time with helpful drivers but I wouldn't know. read more

I have used this car service twice and both times I have had very good service. Coming from Bedford Stuyvesant going to Carnarsie during rush hour will stress anyone but the drivers were calm and knew how to go around the heavy traffic areas and the price was reasonable. Good and professional service. Very affordable; from Bedstuy to East NY was 15 bucks but I know the price do vary depending on other factors (peak times, availability, etc). I needed car service for my mother so she can get home before midnight. The rep had me wait for about five minutes or so because she was trying to contact a driver but she came back on the phone and said the waiting time was 7 minutes. The cab driver was there at my apartment within seven minutes or even less. That's how business is done; being on time is first and foremost. Will definitely use them in the future. read more

Reliable car service in Brooklyn. I always use them when I go to the airport or have an early call time. I call the night before and never had to called for them to show up in the wee hours of the morning. Decently priced too. $30 to go to JFK and LGA. $25 for Coney Island and $20 to midtown. read more

Customer delight is the phrase I would like to confer to Dekalb for the service provided. Our chauffeur Mr. Immanuel impressed us by reaching before time and having the patience to explain and take us to wherever we wanted. Mr Carlos manager provided us with this efficient and punctual person Immanuel on such a short notice and despite being the 31st of December worked his way out to provide us service rather than making any excuses. Immanuel spent the 31st night taking us all around and showed us the various places where we could do our shopping and through this while he waited patiently rather than hurrying us up. Being New years eve I had expected people to wrap up things fast to attend to various new year eve's parties with family and friends, however Dekalb was a crystal example of following the age old adage of "Work is Worship" and reached us safely to the airport. The car provided was also very good and the journey throughout was very comfortable. I would highly recommend Dekalb to anyone visiting New York and enjoy the first hand experience of dealing with professionals. read more

I just had a terrible experience with dekalb car service a few minutes ago. I called for a ride to the airport and was told 5 minutes. 15 minutes later there was still no car and the operator told me to look outside he should be there or pulling up shortly. 10 minutes later I called back and he apologized and said 3 more minutes. After 10 more minutes I called an uber, which showed up in less than 5 minutes. I called back and told him to cancel the car and that it was a major inconvenience and the operator was nasty and hung up on me. Never again, long live uber!!!!! Can't really argue with that service. Booked online, no problem at all. Quick responses from Dekalb throughout. Carlos rang from the office half an hour in advance to confirm all was good and that the driver would be on time. Piece of mind...always nice! I wanted to give this car service a chance, as I am new to the neighborhood. However, if you call last minute or want a car into Manhattan, there is rarely a car available. So, I tried scheduling cars three times and everytime it was at least 10 minutes late. They either need more cars, or better dispatch, it's a terrible service and you are better off trying another one or using Uber. read more

I contacted Dekalb Car Service to pick up a large party (approx. 12 people) to transport us to our ceremony site on our wedding day and they arrived on time with two clean vans. I reserved our car service through yelp and received a speedy response from the owner and a very competitive price for two vans. They drove us from Bed Stuy to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal on time and because everyone was so excited for the ceremony, one of my family members accidentally left a piece of luggage with some wine in it in the back of their van. We called Dekalb Car Service and they offered to deliver it free of charge later that day. Unfortunately, we didn't answer the phone when they came to drop it off at the venue so I didn't get a chance to tip them and thank them profusely for their awesome customer service. So, since I didn't get a chance to thank them day-of, THANK YOU DEKALB CAR SERVICE!! You are THE BEST!
