I work in law and scanning a document shouldn't be charged whether it's one page or 1,000 pages If their machine is slow as they claimed over the phone then why should the client be penalized then excuses it with "well my employee stood there for two hours!" So what?! That's why she's your employee that you hired to provide a service for an hourly wage. Not in my years of experience doing immigration work or personal injury work have I ever charged struggling families for this. That's not right. I can only imagine the insane amount they charge for getting your taxes done here. These are hard time for immigrant families, this is not the time to be greedy. Actually it never is the time.

Once paid, they offered little further assistance. Significant miscommunication between staff members on essential elements of our filing. Longer version: We hired a tax preparation service to help navigate changes to our filing status after getting married. Our tax consultant, Garrett Jones, began working on our application with the wrong filing status. After correcting this error, there was poor communication regarding important changes that needed to be followed up on, which resulted in IRS notices arriving in June. When I raised my concerns with Garrett, his guidance was vague and he offered no clear timeline for resolution. Weeks later, with no progress made, I was left with the impression that once he had been paid, his investment in us as clients had ended. I spent approximately 10 hours on the phone with the IRS trying to sort out the status of our account. Throughout this process, Garrett maintained that I owed approximately $2,000 to the IRS -- when in fact I had a pending refund of approximately $2,000. In the end, we were left with a significant miscalculation, poor customer service, and no choice but to resolve everything ourselves. I'm still unclear what the fee we paid to Crossroads Financial Planning actually covered. Highly recommend taking your taxes elsewhere.

***Monday June 8th UPDATE*** I'm switching my star rating,…read moreand want everybody to know that my money was in fact in my account my midnight, this morning. I'm not too sure if it was due to the weekend, or if they did some investigative work to find out exactly who I am. But the money did get deposited. I was freaking out initially, because of the whole situation I explained about in the original review. I can't say for certain that I'll ever use this service again, but I can say my $2k did in fact land, pretty much exactly per my demand and my bills are paid as a result of it. There are other options out there, so this service isn't really beneficial to me since I don't send money overseas. But I can say, that I don't believe this place will rip you off. Please ignore the "scammers" accusations. They are a legit business. Original review: They promise a 10 minute transfer, then when you dump over $2k, They turn around and tell you it's 3 business days. Wire transfers are instantaneous these days. I just received one for almost $14k that was sent and hit my bank account before I even got the text message that was sent simultaneously. So why are you sitting on my money? How this place has such a high rating on TrustPilot blows my mind. I'm so pissed right now, and I will never ever ever use this service again. Bait and switch, and a company full of liars. But based out of California, what do you really expect? I'm in a bind, and had to send cash to myself, because I have $8,000 worth of bills coming out of my business account on Monday, and my normal routine method was incapacitated for a few hours today. So I drove all over West Virginia, and spent about 200 bucks just to send $3,000 to myself, with the promise of a 10 minute deposit, which now, apparently won't hit my bank until next Thursday. Ria said my money had been deposited and I needed to call the bank for further verification, which I did, and they have no sighting or record of my money whatsoever. I called the Ria rep, and with a thick, almost impossible to understand Indian accent or something, (again, California, go figure) was asking me questions to verify my transfer. After I passed the verification phase, he was "sorry to inform me that it will take 3 business days". So the 10 minute promise? It's a LIE. I've only got a few thousand in my bank account, and I'm going to be bouncing bills left and right thanks to these scam artists. I guess for the typical person transferring $100 to TJ or Ecuador, it's the best thing since sliced bread. But for people with serious money that need serious results, within a promised time frame, its a friggin joke. Misled, lied to, deceived. I'll tell you this right now, my money better be in my account by midnight on Monday, or you're going to have serious legal repercussions. And if you think I'm playing? Try me. I have SUCCESSFULLY sued a major conglomerate and even the Federal Government. You can play with my dog, you can play with my emotions, but once you start playing with my money, that's where the fun and games will end for you. Midnight Monday June 8th 2026. If my money's not in there, you'll be getting served by 9:00 a.m. Monday June 8th 2026, by Woodburn and Wedge. You will be responsible for my legal teams costs, and the petty interest you will be paying me back will be the least of the financial restitution I will be getting. ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. There was a 6 day hold on the money, supposedly for review. I called their customer service to cancel & get a refund since the person was not able to pick it up. Their rep told me it would take 5 to 10 minutes for my funds to show back in my bank account. After 6 days, my money is still not back in my bank account. When I called back, several times, now I am told my money will take 2-10 business days from the date after the original "send" process was completed, as if it was never cancelled. I was clear from the beginning about the purpose of the consultation when we spoke on the phone and was willing to work with me to schedule the consultation. On the consultation date after i uploaded my docs, she just did not seem prepared. Amongst a series of problems, from the start she focused on how I could use the software program, not my primary concern. Worse, we spent 45 minutes on the phone with the software technical assistance person (who now also had access to my financials) trying to figure out a fairly simple comparison. At certain points they both appeared to forget I was there. Suffice to say, I left that consultation without my main issue fully addressed. Final straw, when I emailed her later that day to express my dissatisfaction, she never responded. She is probably a great CFP, but with this customer the experience was an epic failure.

I called, set up a 1 hour appointment, and completed the financial inventory requested. She was able to explain my financial status in terms that I could understand. She agreed to let me audio record our session so I could review it after our meeting. And I left with a three ring binder containing an analysis of my current financial situation and projections for retirement. She suggested a few changes, but overall I'm in good financial health. I love what another reviewer wrote and I agree, " So for some of you women out there, smart up! Forgo one of those stupid designer handbags or trips to the spa. DO NOT RECOMMEND !!!…read more After experiencing two consecutive years of errors from a well-regarded CPA that resulted in penalties and fees, I made the deliberate decision to take a more rigorous approach to my tax preparation. I engaged two reputable firms simultaneously, paying each their full standard rates, with the intention of filing whichever return I determined to be most accurate and advantageous. Over two filing seasons, I alternated between the two firms' returns based on merit. My other preparer understood and respected this arrangement without issue. Slaten, however, took exception to it and ultimately terminated me as a client. This raises a legitimate question worth considering: if a firm is confident in the quality of its work, why would it object to a client seeking a second opinion? In medicine and law, independent review is not only accepted but actively encouraged as a mark of professional integrity. Slaten's reaction suggests an unwillingness to have their work scrutinized, which is precisely the kind of posture that should concern anyone trusting a firm with their financial obligations. I was a paying client in good standing. I introduced no burden beyond what any other client would. The sole issue was that I held them accountable to a standard of accuracy. That they found this objectionable tells you everything you need to know. **Not recommended.**
