A lot of people in and out to visit and hospice was there almost every day. They were so welcoming and accommodating and kind with everyone. More important was the incredible care they gave our dad. They couldn't have treated him with more attention, love, and skilled care. They consistently reported back to us how things were going in detail and were in lock-step with hospice. We felt so relieved to have him in such a wonderful place. And, it is clean, has a large parking area... a very comforting and homey feel.

My father arrived at Aria Memory Care in April 2015. He has been struggling with Parkinson's and…read morewas in the beginning stages of Alzheimer and Dementia. He was also recovering from a broken hip and was using a walker. Aria had the safest facilities for my father to move around. The common areas have wood floors and less clutter than other communities. I felt my father was safe. My father enjoyed being able to enjoy the out side on his own with access to their courtyard. Not all communities are set up where your loved ones can enjoy outdoors when they want to. The Facility Manager was very helpful in helping set up my fathers room as well as hanging pictures. Since my father was an engineer, the Facilities Manager took the time to have many great conversations with my father. It is great that Aria is dedicated to Memory Care. They know how to take care of all levels. The separation of cognitive and non cognitive guests is priceless. My father was able to have conversations with other guests with similar challenges. Having a loved one in a home is all ways difficult but when you arrive at Aria you really do not feel you are in a nursing home. It helped me when I was visiting my father. Last but not least the Executive Director Ceri Mackenzie is there for you and your loved ones 24 hours. I have seen this first hand. She was there for helping me manage my fathers needs. Her experience and knowledge comes in handy as anything can happen any time when you are taking care of our elders. The team reacts positively to Ceri's experience and enthusiasm. To sum it up, Aria is a gem in senior community. It offers clean, safe, easy to navigate common area floor plan, spacious individual units and a lovely courtyard to enhance for my father's daily experience. Mostly importantly, the team members are friendly, caring and do not hesitate to come to aide whenever the unexpected need rises. My father actually thrived and showed improvement in matter of weeks under their care. . I have had other family members in Brookdale, Sunrise and, and Emeritus. Aria Memory Care is superior above all other communities. I would recommend Aria to any of my close friends and family.

I chose Aria because the staff were all very caring friendly, the facility is very clean and modern, and the apartment/room was a nice size and well laid out to match, as closely as possible, my Dad's bedroom at home. My Dad has only been there 2 months but I still feel very confident I have made the right decision with Aria. Ceri Mackenzie is the medical director and she is very patient with the family and also with our Dad. She is knowledgeable and shares that knowledge to make us more comfortable with the transition. The nursing staff and aides have all been very friendly to Dad - especially Kristin, Melissa, Brandon and Jeannette - but they have all been wonderful.

Watermark's management since 2019 has brought consistent, high quality leadership and practices to…read morethe facility. And that has been true during 14 months of COVID19 restrictions and a once-in a lifetime winter storm that robbed most of the city of water and power for days. It is remarkable that the Watermark team was able to continue with so little disruption to residents. The current staff earn really high marks for both caring and skill at what they do - even in challenging circumstances. Crises notwithstanding, the Watermark seems to work hard to be a real home for residents on both the Assisted Living and Memory Care sides of the facility. The two program directors are tireless in thinking up an endless array of outings, celebrations, games, lectures and demonstrations for all interests and abilities (e.g. pub night, mystery dinner theater, Jamaican Independence Day with a steel band, Dancing with the Stars, fishing excursion, Lake Austin boat trip to see the eagles and Senior Games athletic competition at UT). There is a lot available every day, but no one is obliged to participate. Shopping and dining outings were scheduled weekly before COVID and there are frequent special events where family and friends are welcome, including live music Happy Hour every Friday. Our loved one was in Memory Care and we have been thrilled to find that it is also about active living and learning and fun! No one is pushed, simply invited to join in at whatever level they can. Our sister was up, dressed and busy every day with games, exercises, and creating things. Moving into Elan/Watermark, after living alone, turned out to be a wonderful life changer. It gave her an instant set of friends, things to do and a reason to get up and stay awake every day. I've been reflecting on this review since I first moved my elderly parents into this facility a…read moreyear and a half ago. I hesitated to write a review earlier, because I did not know if it would affect their care. Sadly they have now both passed. If I could have offered this feedback directly and felt that it would be heard, I would have done that. But my strong impression dealing with the management here is that they are not interested in feedback and do not view it as a way of learning or improving as a business, but rather as a waste of time and a source of resentment. So I just want to make sure others have an informed understanding of what they are getting themselves into here. The kind of review that I wish I had had myself when I first uprooted my parents, both of them with advanced Parkinson's Disease, and moved them across the country from Pennsylvania to live here. Highlights: - The facility is very beautiful. That was what I was sold on originally. - The sales team is kind and good at their job. I feel that they did their best to lean in and smooth the way for my parents and for me, even though when it came to actual management of the residence, that went beyond their scope. - There are many individual nurses and caregivers who are very caring and good at their jobs. - Overall I believe that the facility is mismanaged. The leadership of the center is inaccessible. They do not come to work. They do not pick up their phones. They do not respond to emails. There are no company email lists that allow you to get greater visibility for your communication so that someone higher up will hold the facility accountable to respond--your email goes into an individual email inbox where it is largely ignored. - The nurses and caregivers are not actively managed. No one helps them organize themselves or facilitates communication. No one is present to see first hand when they are over-stretched and cannot handle all of the individual needs on their floor. This results in some pretty serious mismanagement of medication. One time I discovered purely by accident, because I happened to visit, that my father had not received his Parkinson's medication for 3 days, because they had not re-ordered it from the pharmacy or had some type of snag. And they did not call me or make sure that it was resolved. They just let the medication lapse. - Once I saw that was happening, I went far, far, far out of my way to create written medication schedules to try to ensure medication was administered correctly. Multiple times my father himself caught incorrect medication, even though he was barely in a cognitive state to be able to do that and it was very unfair for him to have to be concerned with it. Again, I do not attribute this to the nurses. They are good, well meaning people who want to do their jobs. I attribute it to management that does not put in place systems for them or help organize things or ensure good communication. They just are sort of left there to function as best as they can without leadership. - Most of the nurses / caregivers they hire are good, but some are NOT good. Early on, there was a nurse on the team who got into a very adversarial relationship with my mother, trying to force her to go to bed or to get up or something that she did not want to do. When I came to visit after a week trip I found her in a paranoid, delusional state, convinced that someone was trying to hurt her. Of course she was very sick and it was basically a delusion. But when I interacted with that nurse myself, I understood why she felt that way. He was aggressive and controlling. They did promise to fire that nurse. But then on a future occasion I came back and found him there. I had to complain again. - Memory care is a bit better. But primarily it is better because once someone is on hospice, they have access to a separate hospice provider who comes INTO the facility to provide care. And that hospice provider is excellent, top to bottom. I cannot possibly say enough good things about them. But they are not employed or managed by the center. They just come in on a daily basis to provide care. - In the last month of my father's life, he developed very severe delusions arising out of Parkinson's related dementia, and became aggressive. It was very sad and very hard to watch. My father was a mild-mannered mathematician all his life. It simply was not him or his character to behave in the way he did. - I was so upset by the way the facility handled this. They called the police on him. I had to drop everything and rush over to keep them from escalating past a point of no return. When I went up to the apartment, Brenda, the leader in charge of AL, was smirking and laughing at him and his delusions. It turned my stomach. It still keeps me up at night. If you have your parents or loved ones here, please be prepared to work directly with the staff yourself to ensure communication & good care. It requires constant vigilance.

That is still the case and I especially enjoy eating with my friends. Our menus are varied with many healthy options. We have an extensive salad bar, daily choice of soup, and three entrees to select from (plus desserts). If nothing appeals, we have the option of ordering something from the "Always Available Menu" which includes such items as grilled chicken or fish, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwich, etc. We even have vegetarian options which started in response to resident requests. There is a wide variety of activities and exercise programs to keep us busy, interested and healthy. I also appreciate having transportation provided now that I've sold my car. Our driver tries very hard to get me to all my appointments as I don't have the option to use Uber due to my use of a mobility scooter.
