I've been seen here for the last four years and it's just getting worse. No one ever answers the phone when you call so you have to leave a text message that may or may not elicit a callback. The providers are apathetic and when I asked about my high eye pressure I was told "I'm not here to talk about that." This response was particularly frustrating because I had a young girl add four times the number of numbing drops and tap my eye about 40 times to get its pressure yet. The actual reading doesn't mean anything? Curious. The same girl also applied twice times the amount of dilation drops and couldn't get a solid picture of my retina. Despite having what they described as significant lattice deterioration, I was told to follow up in a year. So now I'm sitting in the parking lot completely blind, and unable to drive home. What an uncaring experience. I won't be back. read more

Received a referral to this place back in 2020 and they were supposed to reach out. It's been 6 years and haven't heard from them yet. Asked the eye dr and she said they would reach out again. Well this time they call during business hours and I called back multiple times and apparently they aren't working. Don't waste your time. Incompetent staff. read more

I have been going to Dr Walsh for a few years now and love their new facility on Craycroft. The first time was because I was having arcs of bright light in one of my eyes. They got me in right away. Turned out not to be anything to worry about. A couple of years later the same thing happened in my other eye. Again, they got me in quickly. Now I go regularly, once a year, for an eye check. Sometimes they run a bit behind schedule, but today they were spot on time. Several people did different parts of the exam, from checking me in, doing an eye test, getting medical history, taking pix, etc. When Dr Walsh saw me, he was able to do the main part of the exam, read the notes from others, and look at the pix taken, all quickly and efficiently. Very impressive considering the size of the practice. read more

I had cataract surgery over a year ago and my left eye developed a retinal fold and so many floaters that I could hardly see out of that eye . Dr. Cameron Javid with Retinal Specialists recently performed a procedure which unfolded the retina and replaced the vitreous fluid. Thanks to him I can now see perfectly well out of that eye and am so thankful. Tucson is lucky to have such a skilled doctor and every aspect of the procedure pre and post op could not have been more professional. I will recommend Dr. Javid and this clinic to all of my fellow senior citizens. read more

For over a decade I've been to this practice for serious issues like a retina attachment, and less serious such as bothersome floaters that greatly limited my vision. Every physician is very thorough and explains the procedures carefully. Without the services provided by Retina Associates of Tucson, I would be legally blind. I now see perfectly. I'd travel across the country if necessary to receive eye care from this practice. I highly recommend Dr Javid and Dr. Walsh. read more

Waiting for 2 hours to see the doctor for a scheduled appointment is ridiculous. If the doctor is running late it would be nice to be told when you check in, you then have the option of waiting for 2+ hours, or reschedule. Staff at the front doesn't care that our time is valuable too. I've gone there for three years and I'm done! read more

Dr Javid restored the vision in my right eye. I am in awe of the outcome of my Vitrectomy surgery performed by Dr Javid. When I was first referred to Retina Associates for my vision loss I was frightened of what lay ahead. My fears diminished as I was greeted by a friendly professional staff. I was seen in a timely manner. Upon exanimation Dr Javid explained my condition and told me my choices for treatment. He was knowledgeable, confident, patient, non-judgemental, and helpful in answering all my questions. The Surgery Center was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, caring, and professional. And as mentioned at the start of my review the outcome was exceptional! I'm so grateful to Dr Javid and his staff. read more

Location on Hampton- Terrible access for walker or wheelchair. Not enough handicap parking or ramps (no curb) accessibility. Waiting room not set up for caregivers to sit with their person in a wheelchair. Prepare to spend HOURS there for your appointment. This is definitely not a good experience for elderly handicapped patients. read more

Have been being treated there for about 3 yrs for Macular degeneration. This last shot went as normal BUT then I had a reaction to the betadine drop which caused BURNING, INFLAMMATION and SEVERE DRY EYE. I went in and saw a different doc(mine was off) and all I was told to do was warm compresses and artificial tears drops and to "Call if it gets worse so it can be rechecked" Well it did get worse horrible worse the whole eye including lids swollen and puffy, burning sensation was off the charts. 14/10 I wanted to rip my eye from the socket. I called back in and was told "it has nothing to do with the retina so it is NOT OUR PROBLEM" Go see an eye doctor. REALLY!?!?!? Then WHY did you tell if it got worse call and come in and get checked. WHY??? WHY??? You ABANDONED me on a situation that was brought on by a procedure YOU performed. YOU are responsible to follow-up / follow through. Big Fail. EPIC FAIL. You do know abandonment of a patient mid care is illegal, right!? I will add that the medical assistants that help in the back - put the numbing drops in your eyes are like bulls in a china shop. they poke your eye like it doesn't have feelings. IT DOES. The last one was just poking poking poking it was horrible. She probably contributed to the eye hurting so much. Physical abuse to a delicate organ. No one likes being poked in the eye. read more

I suffered blunt ocular trauma due to an accident. Lost the lens and suspension ligaments, and more. Dr. Mark Walsh reconstructed my eye and now I can see again. Dr. Walsh and the staff at Retna Associates were tops, always keeping me informed about what was going on with my procedure and after-care. read more

This practice has been treating me for retina issues for several years. I called this date to see an MD for emergent significant and constant pain. The triage tech was apparently consulted. They would not see me. They directed me to a "regular" (their description) ophthalmologist. Of course given it is an emergent complaint, and that it is not possible to get new appointments for months the only choice left is the ER. Uncaring while driving up costs for everyone. My opinion, just terrible. Uncaring. read more

I was diagnosed with a torn retina that needed to be treated right away. My optometrist found Retina Associates and called them to check if they took my insurance. They told them Blue Cross was fine and they could get me in the next day. Luckily I called to ask for instructions. I was on hold for 1/2 hour only to be told that my appointment was canceled because they didn't take blue cross. I called them back at 4:45 and no answer. If this is the staff they hire I have no faith in the doctors. read more

We have generally had a positive experience with Retina Associates since becoming their client over a year ago. The office is spacious and well maintained. The vast majority of the employees working here, from the doctors to the front office staff are friendly. There have been a couple of times where the wait was exorbitant, but we've also gotten in and out in less than an hour. When they are on their game it's awesome! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this office and, in particular, Dr. Javid. This team is fantastic! From the front office staff, state of the art instruments/equipment and care. I recently lost vision in my right eye and Dr. Javid took the time to explain things to me, put forth a comprehensive plan and made me feel like I was his top priority. I never feel rushed and even though I have been beyond nervous for some procedures, Dr. Javid always makes me feel comfortable and even gets me to laugh. He is confident, empathetic and the best Doctor I have seen since my return to Tucson. I wish more doctor's were like him. If you need specialized eye care - He is, by far, the best! read more

I have been a patient here for about a year and thought the service was just okay. I called today with an emergency and the person I talked to said she couldn't get in touch with the triage so told me they WOULDN'T see me and to go to an optometrist...which I didn't have. Now mind you I told them I had fallen down a ravine broke 5 ribs fractured my clavicle and punctured a lung...was having serious flashing periphally which they told me last time to call if anything changed. While I feel the care here is okay, they have poor people management. Every single time I show up for an appointment I end up stuck waiting for at least an hour, and more waiting once you're taken back for exam ir treatment. Feels like a patient mill, overbooking appointments, trying to get as many people in the door as possible, get their co-pays and then just sitting around in a too small waiting area. read more

Dr. Cameron Javid is beyond Excellent. I was told could take up to 6 months for my vision to regain its fullest. After my Macular Pucker Surgery while in the recovery room I told Dr I could see, of course I got that look like right! When during my next day follow and retaking of the photos of my eyes, he said to me, you really could see....I'm like...I told you!. He is Amazing. I had absolutely No Pain No Discomfort at all. I Highly Recommend Dr. JAVID. He has a wonderful personality and to me, he is the Best Dr In the World. I know you won't be sorry, if something can be done,he will do it. read more

Horrible front desk mannerisms. My primary eye physician had sent over a referral since February of this year. This office never bothered to call me to set up appointment. I finally called then 5 times and they are condescending and unhelpful. All I'm trying to do is set up a damn appointment for goodness sakes and they couldn't even do that. I have had a great experience with Dr. Wong, who had previously been with Retina Specialists prior to their closure and provided great care for my retinal detachment, as well as excellent customer service, making me feel like a valued patient. Since coming to Retina Associates, I have been disappointed in their quality of care and customer service. Wait times are extensive when you can get in and today my appt was cancelled and offered for reschedule for the third time in two months due to doctors changing schedules again. When I said it seemed this appointment wasn't that important, the response was, "We really do suggest you reschedule. Follow-up is very important". Really? I am not the one failing to follow-up here. I would like to be seen, but this is not appropriate care or good customer service at all. Unless this is the only option and you have an emergency, I would seek care elsewhere. read more

I was having my usual 6 month Glaucoma check and my Ophthalmologist sent me immediately to Dr. Walsh at Retina Associates for emergency surgery on a torn retina. I had no idea how, why, when I had torn my retina as I had no pain at all but I was terrified. I arrived and the front desk staff were very kind and understanding and managed to get me with little wait time. I was called back for a few tests and went to an exam room. A little while later Dr Walsh came in and explained what was going to happen. He could see how scared I was and was extremely patient and compassionate as was his exam room/procedure staff. I am so grateful to my Ophthalmologist, Dr. Wright for taking action and sending me to such a caring and professional staff. I would never go anywhere else for a serious eye condition. Soon after I arrived in Tucson for the winter (snowbird) I started having issues with my left eye.. the Optometrist I saw referred me to Retina Associates emergency so I called and they were quick to respond. I have now seen Dr. Sean Garrity 4 times since November 2021, my sight is almost 100%, the staff have been exceptional at every appointment, wait has been 2-3 minutes, tests are done by talented, friendly, efficient techs, Dr. Garrity is a jewel!! I typically lean toward female doctors so was dubious when I learned I had a male doctor.. The moment he entered the room there was a calm.. He and his staff are incredible, caring, friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you ALL!!! read more

This is a review based on an initial phone contact only. I was asked to stay on the line for a "brief hold." It lasted over ten minutes. The scheduler who finally answered the phone sounded exceedingly young--could have been nine or ten years of age. This did not inspire confidence. That same person made a data entry error resulting in my being told (incorrectly) that the patient about whom I was calling was not registered with the practice. Once that error was finally cleared up (the individual who made it having avoided taking responsibility for making the error), I was told that the doctor "wants the patient to arrive 30 minutes before the appointment in case there's paperwork to complete." But I was then told that there would likely be no paperwork, since this would be the patient's second visit. First impression: this is an impersonal, corporate medical business that prioritizes the convenience of its doctors over the care of its patients and employs underprepared schedulers to answer its calls. If the patient had not already established care at this practice, I would by no means seek an appointment here. read more

Just about the best medical experience ive had in Tucson. My opthamologist arranged for me to see them on the same day an emergency condition developed. Retina Associates got me in promptly this morning. The office staff and medical staff were friendly and professional. They were organized and efficient. Dr Walsh was reassuring and professional and his exam was incredibly thorough. He explained what he was doing and looking for. He clearly gave me the information i needed to understand the condition. He scheduled a followup in 3 weeks and im sure the experience will be the same. This is the model for which a medical facility should strive for. I take my elderly parents here to see Dr. Savedra. The staff is always friendly and curtious. They are very thorough in their testing and records. Have had the opportunity to see them on 4 different occasions, and they have been terrific every time. After moving from Phoenix and my regular retinal docs, it was great to be referred to their practice from my ophthalmologist at Cornea Associates. I have seen 3 different doctors here (two were emergency visits, and they got me in that day, very much appreciated) and have always felt non-rushed, getting answers and information that I needed. It sucks to have eye problems and issues, but having a good group to have your back sure helps! read more
