When I was first referred to Retina Associates for my vision loss I was frightened of what lay ahead. My fears diminished as I was greeted by a friendly professional staff. I was seen in a timely manner. Upon exanimation Dr Javid explained my condition and told me my choices for treatment. He was knowledgeable, confident, patient, non-judgemental, and helpful in answering all my questions. The Surgery Center was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, caring, and professional. And as mentioned at the start of my review the outcome was exceptional! I'm so grateful to Dr Javid and his staff.

My last prescription was filled at Costco and that's where my next one will be. Two pair of progressive glasses (one was sunglasses) with total out of pocket less than $200. Vista wanted $489 out of pocket for one pair. WTH? Plus my Costco frames were Jill Stewart and are still as good as new so I only bought replacement lenses for my main pair.

What makes this experience even more frustrating is the lack of communication. No one called us with an update or explained that there was a delay. We had to call them ourselves after waiting a month, only to find out the glasses still weren't ready. These aren't just ordinary glasses for my wife. She needs the prism lenses, and while we've been waiting she has been dealing with severe headaches. That's why getting these glasses was important to us in the first place. Delays can happen--I understand that. What I don't understand is promising roughly two weeks, letting more than a month pass, and not contacting the customer with an update. When someone's health and quality of life depend on getting the correct prescription glasses, communication and follow-through matter. Based on our experience, I am extremely disappointed with the service and would not recommend this place! Horrible!

(Switched insurance companies and the previous place didn't take my new insurance, just the big insurance I was currently on). It's too bad because I liked them and the doctor a lot, even though they were 15 miles from home in the center of Tucson. I chose Sunburst for ONE REASON ONLY. They were very close to where I reside. Factor in gas prices these days, yea I'm retired and frugal. So, I go there for my initial eye checkup appt. (Nice right? A close and short commute) and I am quickly re-scheduled for an additional eye appt IN "GREEN VALLEY"?!?! over 30 miles away (one way). "Vista Eye Care". What's odd is every appt. rescheduled now from here on out is at "Green Valley" (60 miles round trip with gas at $4.50 a gal.) Opposed to "SUNBURST OPTICAL" 7 miles away. Is this conjob to lasso customers away from Tucson and make them drive way down there? Appears so. So every appt here on out they expect me to drive 60 miles rather rather than 14 miles to Sunburst? Right down the road? Hmmm. Apparantly my time and gas costs are no concern to Sunburst/Vista eyecare. Why the different names? Something isn't right here. And as well, a month after my "last" appt in Green Valley, after paying them my $35 copay at "Vista Eye Care", I received an additional bill for something that isn't clear about what the charge is pertaining to, just some abbreviated garble. And trust me, it WAS my last appt. with Sunburst/Vista or whatever they want to call themselves. I'm not driving 60 miles to get my eyes checked when there are hundreds of eye specialists just around the corner from Sunburst optical. Why don't they consider distance and the fact I reached out to Sunburst at Rita Ranch initially NOT Vista in "Green Valley". Are they even concerned one bit about how they are detouring customers down to Green Valley. Tax loophole or whatever they are really trying to do, I'm out! Apparantly it doesn't matter to them, but it matters to me. And they seem more concerned about some vote to be the best optical firm in Tucson when they are really in Green Valley? Man! There is nothing above and beyond what any other optical place/optometrist does for you except running your gas tank empty. Crazy and as backwards as the world today.

The two young women working (and I use that term loosely) the front desk were the worst representatives the company they could have found. They never looked up from their cellphones to acknowledge me, but rather one placed a clipboard on the counter for me to fill out. You know the rest of the story, except for the part where one advised me my co-pay was $250. I advised her that was not accurate, and that it was $150. She then found her voice and informed me that their office was a preferred provider for insurance companies and that the co-pay was $250. I asked her when she had contacted my insurance company to confirm the coverage and co-pay, but she did not respond to my question, rather replied with the same canned response about being a preferred provider... this absurd conversation went on for a while and she then informed me that if I couldn't afford to pay the full $250. that I could finance it. I was about to inform her that I paid cash for my new Lexus with my own hard earned money, but decided she wasn't worth another second of my time and turned around and left.
