Nice crew, but epic failure on our project, which was even acknowledged by them in the end. Bottom line, look elsewhere of you need a restoration company.
We lost our home due to a fire in February, which also damaged the home connected to ours that we rent out. Our plan was to fix up that house so we could live in it while we work on the much longer project of rebuilding building our home. We brought in Restoration Relief To help make that happen, unfortunately we are 3 and a 1/2 months out and have have yet to have a livable house let alone get started on rebuilding our home.
Right out of the gate we lost about a month because the person doing the estimates for the project quit.
From there the cleaning crew only did a partial job and did not have the people they said they would so it took a lot longer to get the job done. We raised the issue with the project manager, but the issue was never resolved. When we did a walk-through with higher ups at the company as proof of how bad the job was done they were able to run a finger along a wall and came away with soot on it. To add insult to injury, they sent a bill for $8k that was clearly pulled directly from the estimates - there were things in the bill that actually didn't exist in the house at the time.
Then the painters came... Bottom line, they did more harm than good and I don't say that lightly. They literally painted over the smoke detectors on the ceiling, didn't properly tape, only took some doorknobs off, painted over weather stripping, didn't seal everything, didn't scrape loose areas, didn't do two coats of paint when they were supposed to... They even painted the ceiling orange and didn't think to check if they had the wrong color! Again the issues were raised to the project manager so he was aware and they didn't get resolved. The owner of the painting company couldn't even say a word to defend the work.
Then the flooring guys... The flooring guys actually did decent work, but again the issue fell the issue fell on Restoration Relief. The job was not properly scheduled so weeks were added to the timeline. The PM said the flooring company could take care of that they could not so we had to do it - worked hard all weekend thinking they would be back to finish and they couldn't make it back for three weeks. It was supposed to be two weeks, then it got rescheduled three additional times... Worse, I asked the PM to follow up with and see if they had done the final coat on the 1st floor floor so that I could wrap up other loose ends. He said they did not because they planned to do the final code of poly when they finished the 3rd floor. It turns out they had actually finished the final coat and he just didn't get an answer for us. I made sure to follow up with him twice on getting that answer and he didn't do it. I found out when the Crew came back to finish the job and I was livid to say the least.
Needless to say at this point we have fired them and are going to figure out a way to finish this project on our own. We have lost all confidence in their ability to restore the house we planned to live in which was a small project, so there's no way we can trust them with a full rebuild on our home. It is a real shame too because this small project would have been a great way for them to show off and prove that they could handle a full rebuild.
We had heard such good things about this company from other people. I'm not sure what's happened over there, but I certainly would never be able to trust do trust them again at this point and I don't think anybody else should take that risk.
The higher up wanted to redeem themselves to be fair, but after all of this there was no way we could do that and they could not give us the one thing we needed back, which is time - living g in you high-school bedroom with your wife and pets for months can only be survivable for so long...
I am probably leaving some things out, but I would guess I have shared enough to make it clear you should think twice about highering Restoration Relief. read more
