I was happy to find this location had the cotton dish towels I use for provincale cloth napkins. Even better, they were half price, making them $0.25 per towel! When I scheduled my eye exam, I was told a doctor would be on-site. However, when I arrived, I learned that no doctor was present, and the exam would be done via telehealth because of the holiday. I was not informed of this beforehand. Although the waiver mentioned telehealth, I was not told that AI technology would be used as part of the exam process. When I asked which system was being used, neither the staff nor the remote doctor could identify it. I was only told the technology was outsourced through a third-party IT provider. As someone with a technical background, the lack of clarity was concerning. The findings from this AI-assisted telehealth exam did not match the results from my previous in-person eye exam with a licensed doctor, which made me question whether the virtual setup was able to provide the same level of detail or accuracy as a traditional exam. Additionally: Several components of a standard in-person exam -- including dilation and certain diagnostic checks -- were not performed. The person handling equipment onsite stated he had two weeks of training and was not medically certified. Staff also expressed that doctor availability varies by location and ownership, and couldn't confirm when an on-site doctor would next be available ("possibly next Saturday, but it could change"). I want to note that the employees at the front desk were professional and polite. My concerns are strictly about transparency, consistency, and whether the services provided match what patients believe they are receiving, especially when insurance is involved. Based on my experience, I no longer feel comfortable receiving exams at this location and will be seeking an in-person medical evaluation elsewhere. I believe patients deserve clear communication about whether a doctor is physically present, whether AI is involved, and what type of exam they are actually receiving.
