Gotthardpass: here the bound of Europe can be found. By one side, Mediterranean, while by the other…read moreside, Central Europe.
We were, in that July, 31st, at the Gotthardpass, with a friend, with her Camper, to take part to the Celebration for the recurrence of the Birth of Swiss Confederation, which will have taken place the next day.
That day, we decided to eat, in the Evening, at the "Zum Dorfli" Restaurant, just outside Hospental. But it was closed! Weekly rest day was Tuesday, and we were there on Tuesday! What a misfortune! That moment was awaited!
So, we had to take another place. I decided to ask for Triopadvisor's Help. And it signaled me this place, just in the Center of Hospental.
We reached it, and suddenly found it nice. So, we decided to stop here. We placed outside, in a sunny and hot early Evening. It was just 6:15 p.m., and we were asked to wait until 6:30, because the cook was eating. No problems, cooks, after cooking so long, or before doing so, have to eat too!
So, we waited some minute, and in the meanwhile we ordered to drink. Some wine for the friend of mine: she is a wine lover. Wine from "Valais".
For me.... impossible to resist to "Rivella", a well known Swiss Drink, made with Milk Serum, I like to drink when I am in Switzerland.
So, after some minutes, we can start ordering.
I was not so sure, but at the end, loving fish, I decided for a trout, with rice, spinaches and lemon butter. For my friend, chicken with onion sauce and Rösti, a sort of Potatoes Croquette, typical from Switzerland.
In some minutes, our dishes arrive. They were tasty. My friend's one, listening to her, was delicious, one of the best she never ate. And she said it could be compared with the one she ate in a famous place for chicken so made.
Maybe, If I had to choose again, I would do her choice. Nevertheless, my trout was tasty too!
After, we decided for a sweet. I chose blueberries cake with cream, and my friend a "mini" cup with vanilla ice cream and cream (sahne, in German). The "mini" cup is the one you can see in the photo: let's figure out the "regular" one!
At the end, after some rest in this nice place, and some words with a couple near us, from Chur, it's the moment of the bill.
My trout charged 34 francs (30,80 euros), my friend's dish 21,50 (18,98 euros). The mini cup of the friend of mine, 9,50 francs, and my dessert 8 francs. Wine, in Switzerland, allows the bill to raise up. In this case, it was the same: 19,50 francs for 5 dl wine bottle (17,21 euros).
The total amount was 107,50 francs (94,88 euros). An average ofd 47,44 euros for anybody. It sounds expensive, but we were in Switzerland, in a well known locality. And in it's Center. Zum Dorfli was much cheaper, but this is another place. So, for Switzerland, I think the price is correct.
The personal is really kind, service is right. So, I can suggest this place for an agreeable rest, in a really nice and involving Natural Environment. Expect quite high prices. But, like I said, for Switzerland, and for the place, in the Center of Hospental, they're correct.
