There was no table for our party of 5 but he let us sit at a table that was reserved for someone who wouldn't be there for a bit. Great vibe, music and decor. You can choose the beans, and the filter method, so it will take you some time to test all the combinations! Still, the best part of this coffee bar is their fresh Dutch apple pie! It is being baked in store (the barista makes it him/herself!), so if you are lucky enough to get there when it is just finished, you can enjoy a piece of freshly baked pie. That should transport you back home, and makes you think about how your mother used to do that in the weekends! There is a nice large reading table, allowing you to do some work even (of course they have free WiFi!), or read one of the recent magazines they have available. The other thing I like is that they are dog friendly. It is perfectly fine to take your dog inside (I have a labrador), and sit there for a while. All in all, my favorite coffee place on IJburg! The reason I am not giving 5 stars is that they do not have anything substantial to eat. So if you get there around lunch time, and you are longing for a nice lunch, then you will have to make do with some pie, a croissant, a muffin, or a cookie.

Teas are good, they have a nice choice of biologic teas. And of course the coffee, which is pretty OK here... it could withstand my litmus test for double espresso: not too much acidity, strong yet soft. All in all, definitely worth visiting (The 4 stars may end up being 5 when I tried more of their offerings!)

I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.

Made a reservation for Sunday night; while it wasn't super busy, I'd recommend making one just in case since it looked like only a couple tables were open. We ordered the babaganoush, the roasted mushrooms, and red lentil soup to start. Highly highly recommend the babaganoush. Note, it is not the typical blended eggplant, but chunkier. This doesn't sound super appealing, but trust me, this makes it so much better. Each bite has more flavor and texture this way. The soup and mushrooms were both great, but weren't standouts compared to the babaganoush. For our mains, we went with the sea bass and lamb chops. You might be able to tell from the photos, but the sea bass isn't how you typically have it in the states, where you get a slab of some fish. Instead, it's the whole fish so it's much smaller and it has EVERYTHING. I've had fish like this before so whatever, but I know there are people out there who are squeamish about having the fish head still on there with bones and stuff, so be warned! Though it'd be such a pity to let that stop you from trying it because it was amaaaaaazing. Lemon and mint seeped in every bite. They even stuffed it in the middle so the flavor wasn't just limited to the surface. The lamb was also perfectly cooked and mouthwateringly delicious. I read before coming here that Dutch people look down on eating with your hands. And I honestly tried to be sensitive forwards that. But omg it would've been a crime not to pick these up and gnaw on them like a friggin hyena. So I did #noregrets. Also care with a bunch of tasty sides - nom noms!! Didn't have enough room for dessert. Though something to note: not sure if it was bc it was a Sunday, but service wasn't particularly fast and we only got our mains at 910 pm after getting there at 745 pm. We didn't mind, but if you're in a rush, be aware. This might even be a Dutch thing; we were one of the last to arrive in our room, but we're on of the first to leave since basically everyone who got there before us were still sitting around and chatting long after we left. So...who knows! Anyway, it was super tasty and very affordable. Highly recommend!

The girls were dressed for it, and it definitely felt like a "last night of the trip" kind of place. We did have my friend's younger son with us, and while the restaurant leans more toward young adults and adults, it was totally fine and we had no issues. As you'd expect, the food was top-notch and the service was what you'd expect from a place like this. My daughter's friend has a severe fish and nut allergy, so we made sure to communicate that upfront. For most of the evening, they were very attentive and accommodating, which we appreciated. There was one moment worth mentioning . . . a runner brought over a dish, and when I asked if it was safe for her, he said yes. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication, and it turned out to be tuna tartare, which we initially thought was steak tartare. She took a bite, and it definitely gave us a scare. Thankfully, she took her allergy medication right away, and everything ended up being okay. I chalk it up to the nature of a high-end restaurant with multiple servers and runners, but it's something to be mindful of, especially when dealing with serious allergies. Outside of that . . . fantastic meal, beautiful venue, and a great way to end the trip. I'll definitely be back . . . just a little more vocal about allergies next time, and I'd recommend the same to anyone visiting.
