Overall I liked the food, but found prices high even by Swiss standards. The daily lunch menu is reasonable at 24 CHF, and includes a meat and vegetarian option, and starter. When I went there was a tomato cream soup to start. This was very tasty, and came in a huge portion (easily enough for two), accompanied by bread. The main was pork with apricot/rosemary sauce, potatoes, and two large white asparagus spears and one green. This was all good, though the pork had some excess sinew in some areas.
My friend had the sea bass, which was 45 CHF for a rather small portion. This was accompanied by veggies and potatoes. Both our dishes were good. I often find Swiss German restaurant food too salty for my taste, and everything here was well seasoned.
A caveat if you want a quick lunch: we were the first to arrive for the lunch service, and even then it took about 35 minutes from ordering to have our main courses served. The servers were friendly and professional.
I liked the ambiance of the place; there are a couple rooms inside, and the garden (where we sat) has a cozy feel with a tree covering part of the space. The only downside of sitting outside is you can hear the cars and trams going by.
To sum it up, the food is good and a reasonable value if you get the lunch special. Pretty much anything else will feel very expensive (e.g. 75cl bottle of water for 9.50), and to me the food is solid but not special enough to warrant the prices. read more
