We enjoyed it! After a Canal Cruise, we stopped here for lunch. We found a nice outdoor 2-top in the shade and we're allowed to be seated. We surveyed the menu and placed our order. The service was pleasant and our drinks and food came out timely. I had the Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas. The fish, chips and tarter sauce were great. I was not a fan of the cold mushy peas. The seasonal beer was great too. She had a Smorgasbord plate. It had Shrimp Toast, Fish Toast, Chicken Toast and a sauce that was lemony. She enjoyed it all. We'd come back here.

Ambience was amazing. Nice and sunny, and lots of outdoor seating. Waiter was polite and available. Ordered Skagen Toast for appetizer. Very good. The mayo made the dish. Toast was kinda loaded with shrimp though, so not enough toast proportionally, but still good. Caviar was nice, but I'm not sure I could even taste it through the other ingredients haha Ordered Linguini agli Scampi for entree. Good. Pasta was perfect, but prawns were pretty hefty, so I couldn't really put them in the same bite. Ordered pavlova for dessert. Awesome. I wish there had been more berries on top though, or perhaps more coulis around the meringue, because otherwise the thing is just a massive sugar bomb, which I suppose I don't mind :) My sister ordered the vegan fish n chips and loved it.

Havfruen is a fish restaurant on one of Copenhagen's most busy tourist destination streets - the Nyhavn canal. We had spent our day exploring the city, and this was a great place to eat and relax at the end of the day. I had planned a specific restaurant to visit, but since we didn't know our timing, we couldn't book, and when we got there, it was full. So we wandered along the wide range of restaurants looking for one. This place was busy, but we managed to get a table with only a short wait. There is indoor space at the restaurant (which we did not see), but there are lots of tables out on the street, with a view of the scenic canal, and with covering to reduce sun or rain. Staff were friendly and service was prompt, although food took quite a while to arrive and some of us had to leave to put the child to bed while I stayed behind to pay. The menu was mostly seafood and had a good range of choices, with a couple of non-fish options. The food costs were pricey, not surprising given the location, but not ridiculous. I started with the Skagen Toast (a Danish classic) which was great. A famous Danish delicacy that was done well. I could have eaten several of these and just had that for dinner. My wife had the Salmon Tartare, which was good. For main course I had the Fish and Chips - great chips, ok fish. My wife had the lobster, which was very good. Our friend had the pasta, also good. Overall, this was a very good experience. Decent food, great view and environment, only let down by slow service on what was clearly a busy night.

Very nice outdoor cafe Setting outside next to the beautiful Harbor in Copenhagen. Food was pretty average though but we still enjoyed it. We had the moule frites, calamari and some wine. Very fun people watching for sure.

It was a great place to eat after a long summer day in the sun. The Restaurant is particularly good with their seafood. Specifically, the oysters left me wanting to drain my wallet dry of funds. Unfortunately, service was a bit slow. I would say that their seafood ingredients themselves were amazing but their dishes were overall just okay. It would be best to stick to straight up dishes like Mussels, Oysters, and Crustaceans rather than going for pastas and other more prepared food.

We are vegetarians and eat only fish when veggie dishes are not available! This chef was outstanding as he made me a dairy free mustard sauce for my salmon that was excellent. Tasty Chablis wine and good pilsner. Highly recommend!

As we were walking around town exploring the Nyhavn area we came across this place and decided to stop for dinner. It's located in a row of twenty some odd restaurants on the waterfront and is one of the big tourist attractions in town. The restaurant here is small with a bit of outdoor seating. The menu is small and mostly seafood. I had the mussels and they were quite ok and I enjoyed it. Prices were also ok and reasonable for Copenhagen. Service was good and generally ok. All in all a nice experience with decent food.

Enjoyed the fish soup. Sat outside...view was great and blankets/outdoor heaters made it comfortable and enjoyable. Service was a little slow and inattentive.

We are inside as it was a bit cold and the small but very cozy restaurant was great. Perfect service and great tasting fish.

First and foremost, the staff here are amazing! They introduced themselves and inquire about our likings and preference. In addition, they made recommendations that matched our likings while offering popular dishes that most recently ordered. Their mussels are absolutely amazing. The flavor paired with the green onion is on another holy level. Their seaweed butter and sourdough bread is also a must order. The crispiness of the crust is something other bakers need to contend with. Scallops had a nice Asian flavor to was hard to pinpoint but it definitely ruffled some thoughts about the origin of the sauce. Upon walking in, you'll be greeted with an ambiance that is sea themed and old pier like vibe. Don't be fooled by the decorations, no be distracted by the amazing drinks the bartender was crafting. This place is fun, has good vibes, and you'll wonder why you have not visited this establishment earlier. Great job team for delivering amazing service, food, and memories.

The food is prepared really well, and ingredients are super fresh though. Tried the little donut thing with caviar on top. That was the best bite of the meal. The caviar was so fresh. Was it worth the price? Hm, maybe not? The scallops were also great. Not overcooked. The fish and chips- great, moist. But hm, nothing really stood out. Also enjoyed the seaweed butter and fresh sour dough in the beginning. Overall, good experience. Nice service (people here are nice but not really warm- so it's an interesting vibe coming from the US). Probably great for a special occasion, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

There were outside tables, but it was a bit chilly, so we opted for the nearly deserted inside restaurant. We had a table near the window, so it was a great view. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the service was very friendly. I ordered the gravlax open-faced sandwich, which is smoked salmon (very similar to lox) on an excellent sour dough bread. I opted to skip the mustard sauce, but the sandwich was perfect. My wife had the potato open-faced sandwich, which consisted of new potatoes, organic rye bread, lemon mayonnaise (romaleid), fried onions and pickled pearl onions. She really enjoyed it, along with her Spritz drink. Denmark seems to be one of those countries, where you cannot order tap water. Fair enough. However, our water consisted of an open carafe (which I'm sure was tap water), for which we were charged 50 Krona ($8). This seems high for tap water.

Settled on fried fish and shrimp croquettes (ok). We knew it was a tourist trap, but we were looking for better service. Great location on a beautiful day, if not for the excitement of being in the city... the staff could have destroyed it. On vacation, looking to order a drink, I was advised they only had what was on the menu... mind you, as you look around, the establishment next door was rocking a full bar! In my opinion, pick a trap with friendly inviting and help staff... not unless you like it that way!

Picked this spot, not only cause it was by the Canal and advertised as Danish.. but also it's located next to this delicious hot dog food stand I enjoyed earlier after the Canal Tour - has to be good vibes right?! ;) Heh Plenty of outdoor umbrella seating with lovely string lights - most sat outside, as September weather in Denmark feels like AC. Plus, who doesn't love a great view? :) ==BEER== First thing's first, BEER. The waiter recommended Tuborg Classic (more malty) as it is their staff local favorite. Ordered that and Carlsberg (lighter like Pilsner) and I would agree, Tuborg's got a nicer, stronger flavor. ==FOOD== Ordered the chicken tartlet, which reminded me of a flakey biscuit chicken pot pie. It was good but my favorite was the Danish Meatballs!!! Wonderful blend of soft savory meat and sweet cranberry sauce, mixed with gravy! OOO and top it off, a sweet lady in front of us RAVED about the chocolate cake from her three course meal so just had to order it too. SO FUDGEY GOOD... very rich fudge Belgium chocolate with rich vanilla ice cream. I loved it sprinkled with the crumbles texture! I also enjoyed how the waiters were all so kind and willing to converse about local stories with the customers/tourists - friendly staff really added to the great experience here.
