I stayed at Hotel Blume, attached to this restaurant, earlier this year on my Eurotrip with my mom and I made some of my favorite memories at this hotel. While the scenery in breathtaking and the village of Interlaken charming, the people at El Azteca may be the reason I come back! We are big mex lovers. We figured we were taking a chance hoping to find mex in the middle of Switz, but we were more than pleasantly surprised! Truly excellent food, great margaritas, and good service. American mex restaurants could learn something from this Interlaken restaurant about quality vs quantity; less is often better. Eh. This place was OK. Didn't really live up to the hype for me. Came here for an early dinner and the place was basically empty. Actually, I feel like in Switzerland most food places are basically empty. My bf's uncle said that people just don't really eat out that much. So I guess the tourists pay for it. Man, everything is so expensive! And this Mexican restaurant was no exception. We ordered a few things to share. The chips/guac was ok. Pretty standard. But the guac was a little...interesting. Seemed like they mixed in a lot of sour cream into the avocado. Not really a fan. We also got soup! Can't remember the exact name of the dish, but I don't think there's more than one soup on the menu. It was good! A tad bit salty, but there was a lot of flavor. Last thing we got was the quesadilla. It was ok, nothing special. They put ham in it, which I personally wasn't a fan of. Also slightly oily. But hey, I guess that's what you get if you try for Mexican food in Switzerland. read more

This was great!! We needed a break from Swiss food and this was perfect! We love Mexican food and this did not disappoint! Started with margaritas and guacamole. Ended with the beef burrito and beef enchiladas. All of it was wonderful as well as the customer service. Eddie was very friendly and if we are ever back in Switzerland, we will return. read more

This is the best Mexican food East of Acapulco and served in a beautiful setting. Try the Cochinita Pibil or any of the Fajitas.

After a full day of hiking and exploring Interlaken, my friends and I were craving all burritos, nachos and margaritas like no other. We decided to go around 8:30 and arrived to a completely booked restaurant. The waitress seemed to see how desperate we were (need my enchiladas!) so she went to talk to the owner. We ended up being seated upstairs in, essentially, a storage room with a small table. One we got rid of the stale smell, it was like having our own private dining area. We ordered two pitchers of margaritas (one frozen strawberry, one plain on the rocks). Both were strong, delicious and refreshing. We started with chips and guac that was devoured and then ordered. I got chicken enchiladas and they were very yummy. They were smaller and a little crispier than I'm accustomed to back in the states, but they were still very flavorful and delicious. We also ordered dessert, I got the Caramello ice cream which was a cylinder of vanilla ice cream, filled with caramel sauce and coated in a chocolate shell. Very delicious and a perfect ending to our meal. The wait staff was EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating. We were even served by the owner. Once we went back downstairs to pay, there was singing, music playing and dancing so we joined right in. I can only imagine our experience would have been that much better if we'd made a reservation and been able to eat in the actual dining area. 10/10 would recommend! This is an informal, small restaurant with patio seating on a cute little street in Interlaken. Good food and nice ambience. It's owned and operated by a family (the husband is Mexican, wife is Swiss). The wait staff was friendly and cheerful. If you are from the US, please know that the food is not what you think of as American Mexican food but it was tasty. I was recently in Interlaken and was looking for a restaurant for dinner when I saw Restaurant El Azteca on Yelp. This was the best Mexican food I have ever had....and I live in CA which has a lot of Mexican restaurants. Pablo the owner played guitar and sang to his customers.
