This restaurant is about 1.5 km from my grandmother's house in Cidra. I can make the walk to this place to have some great food. I take my cousins here all the time.
I very much like the outdoor seating here (you really have no choice). But don't worry, it's all covered, so you can eat here even through a passing rain shower. The only thing that might annoy you are the birds that come by occasionally. Even they love the food.
I've eaten many things at Don Jose's. The alcapurrias are awesome. The pernil is even more awesome. And my favorite, arroz con gandules y pollo asado (rice with pigeon peas and roasted chicken) - the Puerto Rican staple. My family usually decides on other dishes...mariscos (seafood), chorizo, or costillas to name a few.
This restaurant is just outside of el pueblo de Cidra (what we call downtown Cidra). It's a five-minute walk from downtown, so stop by if you are there. You will not be disappointed. read more
