Now in English............
My family has been eating the famous "Galletas de Manteca" (Fat/Butter/Lard Crakers) since the forties so needless to say I have enjoyed them all my life. Its only natural that the best galletas are from the center of the universe, Peñuelas, or at least to my dad, Rene 'Peligro' Perez.
When I was in PR earlier this month I made sure to swing by and pick up plenty for me and for the rest of the fam on the mainland. Of course they did not disappoint. I even introduced them to my gf's family and they fell in love with them. Its hard to explain the taste because I have never tasted anything like them any where else. You can have them with coffee, as a snack, with jelly, Nutella, cream cheese, butter you name it. They always take me back to great memories as a kid so even though there is a lot of nostalgia associated with them to me they also still taste the best. I like them a little burnt and some people like them less burnt. At the end of the day they are just simply the BEST.
Next time your in the south of PR take a side trip to the center of the universe, Peñuelas, and enjoy the best galletas in the universe period!
