I called at Restaurant Brooklyn after a ferry ride from Amsterdam Central Station to NDSM Wharf, this restaurant is located in the Doubletree, around 15 minutes to central Amsterdam via ferry.
The lunch menu had a decent selection from egg-based options including dutch fried eggs with cheese and/or ham, and an omelette with the same toppings, as well as a selection of sandwiches, salads and a small selection of hot dishes. Sadly, they didn't have any gluten free bread so I had to opt for the omelette instead.
The free wi-fi was different to most Hilton hotels I've been in, it was a locked wi-fi network called doubletree-guest or something similar with the password being freewifi.
Inside, the restaurant did seem quite nice, there was an issue with a few flies inside, around my food, but I've found this to be quite common in Amsterdam anyway, so it isn't just this location with the problem.
My omelette was satisfactory quality, having had some bad omelettes so far during my time in Amsterdam at multiple hotels including the Doubletree by Hilton Amsterdam Central and Marriott Amsterdam, it was a refreshing and awesome change, to have an omelette I could actually eat and start to enjoy, they even understood the fact I wanted less cheese, which with the Dutch-English language barrier, is something I have struggled to establish elsewhere so far.
The chips did taste quite nice, they were obviously fresh, however, some of them were extremely hard, sinking into a nice chip expecting something fluffy yet crispy to get something bland, hard and disgusting for every few chips certainly wasn't great. I did like how it comes with sauces, which were good quality and tasted fresh and homemade - tomato ketchup and mayonnaise.
As mentioned, the omelette was satisfactory quality, yet in some areas, it was a little dry and not as good as others.
In most bites, the food was good; in others, it wasn't as good, service was above average but establishing which was and wasn't gluten-free was slightly tricky at first, but overall Brooklyn is a decent place to grab lunch while around NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam and deserves a solid three-star rating! read more
