Beautiful quaint Italian restaurant. The food and service are great. Good location near the Château Frontenac. We loved the roaming musician playing live music during dinner.

calamari - with cocktail sauce, why have I never thought of that before? it's so much better than a default marinara or aioli!

Hubs loves chicken parm, and when he traveled to Mexico on the regular for work he would get it there at the restaurant by his hotel. And we called it "Mexican food", because he was in Mexico. So when there was a place lit up like the Italian flag right by Chateau Frontenac in Quebec, we joked that he could get "Mexican food" here too, and have it be "Quebecois". To no one's surprise, that is exactly what he did. I, by contrast, went with the server's recommendation and got the rack of lamb. When lamb is an option, always choose lamb! (In our extended family, this is the Larry rule.) Now our server gave me about 6 different things when I asked what his favorite was, but he listed lamb first, and there is a reason for that. It cut like butter (actually better than butter because they evidently keep their butter really cold there) and practically slipped down without your needing to chew, but at the same time, you want to keep it in your mouth to really savor. If I was not sitting at a center table I might have full-on gnawed on the bones like they were ribs and licked the plate to get the last of the hearty grdidn't. We bookended our meal with tasty standards: calamari to start, creme brulee to end. They served the calamari with cocktail sauce, which is not something I think of; to me marinara or even an aioli would be a default, but cocktail sauce is so much better! Biggest surprise bonus of the evening: musical standards from the great American soundbook being played all evening on accordion.

Absolute must go to This is a beautiful classic Italian restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious, we ordered Alfredo and seafood pasta, both were incredible and the portion was very generous. We were also served fresh bread and cannelloni which was very tasty. But I have to give the crown to the Margarita Pizza we ordered, a must try for sure. Very delicious and highly recommend you try it. What made this restaurant so great was the service, we were treated with such respect and the staff was always attentive of ours requests. I didn't catch the name of the other two servers that were extremely kind but I did get the name of Katia, her service was great and always checked we had everything to make our meal perfect. The interior is beautiful and very instagramable, I loved this place!

Wonderful service. I like the close-knit tables cluttered with tchotchkes. We all had simple pasta dishes which tasted great.

Wife was craving French onion soup for dinner one night and we found this place online. Seemed very old classic French and thought we'd try it. Really wish we hadn't The service was prompt and nice but the room we were in was a bit old and had some flies. The food itself was a bit oily, the cheese wasn't stringy, the shrimp not done well and the dessert, sickeningly sweet. The worse part is how expensive it is. Really regret coming here.

We were seated on the patio and our very sweet server was right out to take our drink order. Since we are eating Poutine all over Canada in search of our favorite. We so enjoyed sitting on the patio, it was a beautiful day, we were people watching and enjoying the umbrellas place up the alley. Our poutine was delivered to the table and I can honestly say it was our favorite. The fries were crunch and creamy on the inside. The gravy was rich and had a deep flavor and the cheese curds had lightly melted. Every bite was perfect. The eatery and bar are tucked into a stone house that dates back to 1668, if only the walls could talk. The bar and restaurant feature local Quebec cuisine and is a gem. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere.

We had 9 people and they sat 5 at a table and 4 at the bar and we were completely fine with the arrangement. It is quaint and small and we could see our family and even shared some food since we Were close enough. The cheese fondue is not to be missed . It was absolutely the perfect start to our meal. Then we shared an original poutine and it also was delicious- best I had on our trip thus far! I ordered mussels for my meal and a steaming pot arrived and they were yummy. Ambiance and service were great. They accommodated our awful French attempts. Drinks were large. Honestly, I feel lucky to have dined here. Everything was wonderful!

I wasn't too hungry so I ordered an app for my entree, the bruschetta. It came loaded with seasoned tomato pieces. Hubby ordered the pasta with clams in a spicy sauce. There was a misunderstanding with his meal. When hubby asked questions about the carbonara, our server thought he ordered the carbonara when he actually decided on the pasta with clams. When the wrong meal was brought over, our server escalated to his manager who then offered to exchange his meal. They kept apologizing for the mixup but honestly, they already handled it well by replacing it without issues. The pasta dish was so good! I scooped the extra sauce with my crostini and really enjoyed it. The clams were meaty and fresh too. Daughter ordered the pasta with meat sauce- also very good. We had a mishap where they topped off our sparkling water with tap, and it took a really long time to get our replacement sparkling water. We got the burrata and Caesar salad to start. We arrived on time and waited maybe 5 minutes before being seated. All the outdoor tables were full so the two of us sat at a low 4-top inside not far from the kitchen. Water was brought right away. Our server then took our drink, appetizer and entree orders. We each had a pint of Stella beer on draft and we shared an order of their Focaccia bread, served with butter and a dish of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The beer was cold and because it was draft, not from a green bottle, no skunk smell or taste :) The Focaccia bread isn't what we make in the States, but it was find. More of a soft, yet dense bread, topped with herbs. For $3 CAN, it was a deal. Later on, the Casesar salad was brought out. It was a generous portion and was plenty for the two of us to split. The dressing was tasty as was the shaved Parmesan cheese and the house made croutons. Later, our Cannelloni entree came. It was in an oval dish that had been baked. The full order came with 2 Cannellonis. Here again, plenty for two people to share. It was stuffed with a meat and cheese mixture. We were too full to be tempted by their dessert menu. Our friends arrive from the US in a couple of days, so we've made another reservation here at Portofino for the four of us. The only downside to Portofino was that it is popular and busy, so it was a bit loud inside.

So we kept getting bumped by the servers. The waitresses were very nice however they were a little sloppy when pouring water into our classes, there were many times that I had to clean the table with a napkin because water got all over the table, so that was wasted napkins... The food wasn't too bad, I'm not gonna lie. I have to say, I've had a bit better. The desserts were amazing though. The bathrooms weren't as cleanly, I mean, the floors could've used a bit of a cleaning and as a germaphobe, it didn't sit well with me. Overall, would I come here again? I'm not too sure because I live far away lol but it was decent enough.
