Not the most impressive rest stop that Texas has built (ahem, Navarro county? Walker county?), but…read moreit's still a step up from the basic picnic areas in the middle of nowhere. It provides an adequate amount of shade near the main building and several walkways to roam through the grass. The men's restroom could use a touch up but looked acceptable. Not sure what the deal was with the gated vending machines; they're mostly empty and hard to reach through the gates. While this stop does the job for a quick bathroom break, its usefulness is completely overshadowed by the town of Kerrville just a couple miles west on I-10. I saw plenty of fast food restaurants and gas stations right off the Kerrville exit which looked much more comfortable. When heading westbound, the exit for this rest stop states that the next *official* stop isn't until another 120 miles, but you can find plenty of small towns along the way. I will say, this stop does have well kept lawns. I saw several kids happily running around. Not my choice of activity in this sweltering heat, especially since there's a lack of natural shade, but I can see the appeal in stopping here in a time crunch.

BUT, as others have said it's super clean. More clean (and AC on upon arrival) than I experienced on a recent Studio 6 in Alvin, Texas. I get the rules but there are some that won't burn you. Drink a beer and put your butts in the can outside the room. Nothing to clean up but a can. Unless I'm toting about four hoes then I think you're safe Boerne Motel 6 owners with the fancy BMWs under carports in the front. Billion security cameras too so you're safe from the rich folks of Kendall County

Do you see that big black dog and I think he's talking to his friend he's not saying calling me out and I'm walking my little 26 pound blonde dog then all of a sudden big black 80 pound German Shepherd comes running over to us and I'm having a heart attack practically because my dog is 26 pounds and I'm on leash and the big black German Shepherd is not on leash later the man said well he was on a shot collar leash shovel cycle if he was on a shock collar leash how come you weren't using it when he was running over to us we were minding our business going to the bathroom and your dogs running over to us and he said well it's a Service Dog so well again if he's a Service Dog and he's got a shock collar leash how come you weren't using it and telling him to stay and sit or do whatever to stay the hell away from us?Coffeemaker did not have a lid for the pot so the coffee just collected at the top where the coffee filter was, and I had to pour into the pot from the sink.

I think much of it has to do with what your expectations are when staying here. The hotel is retro western and reminds me of the days of Route 66 themed motels and roadside attractions. The lobby is a large room filled with taxidermy and old western artifacts like cattle brands, peacemakers, Remington style sculptures, etc. The attendants at the front desk were friendly and helped us get squared away with little fuss. We went to our first room and after walking in, we immediately turned back to the lobby to change rooms. The first room faced the parking lot, had some stains on the curtains, and overall didn't feel like a winner. Thankfully, they had a room facing the pool available and the interior was much nicer/cleaner. The room came with a balcony that overlooked the pool that ended up being a nice spot for late night chats with the mild weather we had. I'd strongly suggest getting the pool view because it was night and day from the outer perimeter room we started with. The floors of the hotel rooms are saltillo tiles, and from someone who has lived in many a saltillo tiled homes, keep your shoes on. It's so hard to clean the grout and tiles perfectly, and I'm sure the maids aren't on their hands and knees steaming and scrubbing between stays. Beyond the tile, the bathroom was clean, water pressure was fine. Bedding and furniture was clean. No big complaints. The restaurant was closed for renovations during our stay, which was a bummer. The bar was also closed during our stay because we came on Monday and left Wednesday morning. The bar's schedule is open every day except Monday and Tuesday. We used the pool while staying there and it was fine for sunbathing and a quick dip. The hot tub was closed for maintenance, but it was too hot out for using it anyhow. Long review short, if you like hotels with character, then you should have a fun stay. I'd say the YO is perfect for someone looking for a cheap stay (we paid $220 total for 2 nights) that doesn't mind tile floors, kitschy decor, and rooms with a little age. It's way more interesting than The Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express!

Hotel Faust is such a lovely place to stay in Comfort, and I really enjoyed my stay there. ROOMS: I appreciated the "stress-free" check in and check out that Hotel Faust uses. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well decorated. According to the card in my room, the room had been recently renovated and it was absolutely stunning! The room had a coffee maker, fresh filtered water, and water bottles for my enjoyment. The shower was amazingly luxurious and the toiletries provided were a step above what one usually receives in hotels. The bed was amazing as well - I slept like a rock after a long night of wedding festivities! LOCATION: Hotel Faust is located right in "downtown" Comfort. As a verified city slicker, I loved that I could walk to the coffee shops and antique stores when I wanted. Additionally, there is ample street parking right in front of the hotel, which was excellent. I would recommend Hotel Faust to anyone staying in Comfort!
