It provides an adequate amount of shade near the main building and several walkways to roam through the grass. The men's restroom could use a touch up but looked acceptable. Not sure what the deal was with the gated vending machines; they're mostly empty and hard to reach through the gates. While this stop does the job for a quick bathroom break, its usefulness is completely overshadowed by the town of Kerrville just a couple miles west on I-10. I saw plenty of fast food restaurants and gas stations right off the Kerrville exit which looked much more comfortable. When heading westbound, the exit for this rest stop states that the next *official* stop isn't until another 120 miles, but you can find plenty of small towns along the way. I will say, this stop does have well kept lawns. I saw several kids happily running around. Not my choice of activity in this sweltering heat, especially since there's a lack of natural shade, but I can see the appeal in stopping here in a time crunch.

BUT, as others have said it's super clean. More clean (and AC on upon arrival) than I experienced on a recent Studio 6 in Alvin, Texas. I get the rules but there are some that won't burn you. Drink a beer and put your butts in the can outside the room. Nothing to clean up but a can. Unless I'm toting about four hoes then I think you're safe Boerne Motel 6 owners with the fancy BMWs under carports in the front. When my wife wiped it up, the towel came away black with filth. We addressed this concern with the front desk the following morning; the clerk was polite and understanding, assuring us she would notify housekeeping. ​We headed out for the day and returned mid-afternoon. While the room smelled of cleaner and there were visible damp spots on the floor, we decided to test the cleanliness ourselves. We wet a fresh towel and wiped the tile again--it came up just as black as the first time. ​At that point, we decided to cut our trip short and asked to check out two days early. The front desk staff remained professional and informed us that they would authorize a refund once Expedia contacted them. We were pleased to find that the refund was indeed approved two days later. ​Summary: Aside from the significant cleanliness issues, the rest of the experience was average. They gave Hotel Faust such high praise that we decided to come with them to see what this was all about. This being our first bed and breakfast experience, I have to admit that I think all others will fall short. We have been blown away by our stay. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Chris and one of the new managers. For two nights our room (Giles) was less than $350. She showed us to our room and walked us through how this all worked. The room we stayed in (Giles) was very spacious and comfortable. We loved the decor and the renovate bathroom -- The shower, especially. Breakfast was served in the carriage house and was delicious and homecooked. The room was not large, but we did not feel crowded. It was nice to interact with the owners and other guests. We loved that Hotel Faust was located on high street, right in the middle of all the action. It is walking distance from numerous antique stores and quaint restaurants. Ask owner, Chris, for recommendations, he is full of them. Our stay was wonderful and relaxing. We felt like a member of the family. I can't wait to come back and stay again.

We usually stay in the alley rooms and they are cozy and stylish. I adore the jet bathtub -- it is such a luxurious treat, especially after spending some time outside in the cold by the fire pit. The creek running alongside the property is just beautiful and I always love to sit beside it on a picnic blanket and let all my daily worries and anxieties drift away. Another one of my favorite places in the world is lying in a hammock under the canopy of one of the many 100 year old+ cypress trees that line the creek. The location is stellar. A delicious pizza from nearby Comfort Pizza, a couple of good bottles of vino, and some porch sittin' in the chairs in front of our room and I'm in heaven -- ahh I miss Camp Comfort already! Also, Comfort has excellent coffee and restos, yay! I just love the vibe of the city as a whole. It's artistic and laid back and not crowded with tchotchkes and tourists (looking at you, Fredericksburg). I almost don't want to share the secret of how great this place is. I'm bringing my extended family to Camp Comfort in a couple of weeks to celebrate my birthday, and we've rented out several cabins, alley rooms, and the Camp Comfort house. I cannot wait to play dominos in the main hall and laugh and share stories and take comfort in our being together and weathering a couple of tough years for us (and the world). The room was slightly outdated despite the renovations and we noticed a leak in the bathroom and some water damage in the walls but it was nothing major and all is forgiven when the a/c unit runs perfectly. The creek is gorgeous with tall trees along it and if you're lucky you'll see some deer grazing or neighborhood cats walking around, it truly made for a magical weekend!
