This was the least professional U-Haul building I have ever been to. I had a 7am appointment to…read morehave a trailer hitch put on; I drove an hour to be there for 7am, once there I was told to come back at 2pm when their trailer hitch guy got in. I drove an hour home, then drove an hour back for my 2pm appointment. I was there for 2.5 hours while my car was in theory being worked on. My trailer hitch was being warrantee replaced due to rust and a bend. First the kid they called a mechanic told me my hitch was fine and tried to send me on my way. Then he tried to tell me my bent hitch had always been that way. After that he said he would replace it, but all I saw him do was walk around the building and talk to other employees. After two and a half hours he informed me that my trailer hitch was rusty and I would have to go to a REAL mechanic to get it removed. During the 2.5 hours I sat there, I had the opportunity to watch the rest of the employees and listen to them. The F word seems to be one of their favorites. I heard them laughing at costumers after they left. I heard that the store manager was either getting married or was at a wedding(perhaps the route cause of their behavior). One person called in looking for a job, they put it on speaker phone and stood around describing the job in a highly unprofessional manner. There was a female employee who was clearly wearing a thong and no bra(the male employees seemed to like following her around). So after two trips to Augusta(1 hour each way) and 2.5 hours of sitting in their building, I left without a hitch being put onto my car. 6.5 total hours of my day waisted. If I could rank this U-Haul at zero stars, I would!

When I plan a move, I look for three "E"s: The Economics, the Efficiency, and how Easy on my Stuff they are. The Economics: I sold my house in April of 2016, and sought bids from five different companies that do business in Central Maine. The interesting thing about Precision Packing College Movers is that they state they will beat the competition's pricing. While their pricing schedule is a bit strange, they were true to their word, and beat all of the other moving companies. The pricing schedule (how I understand it) is they block out a 3-4 hour window for the move. It doesn't matter how much time you have allotted (some movers charge by the hour). They adjust their rate based on the complexity of the move, but they can get most local moves done in that amount of time. You detail the move as best you can and they estimate costs (including the truck rental). While I could not pin down their hourly rate, just know you are paying for the entirety of the move and not so much by the hour. The Efficiency: Let's just say you'll need to have your act together for these guys. I had to pack a 2074 square foot house by myself, so I was still in the process of packing when they arrived. My recommendation to you is: make sure you are done packing when they arrive. :) These students, however, were extremely efficient and got my stuff in the truck a lot quicker than I thought. I did move a good deal of my items on my own, but they got the big stuff done and fast. Moving items into the new house: they were attentive to where I needed things, and put together the beds quickly. Easy on my Stuff: They took great care to make sure they did not harm any of my stuff. I would suggest, however, they get some moving blankets instead of using my blankets! :) They treated my stuff for the most part as if it was valuable cargo. My elliptical was half broken and one of the legs almost fell on me. They were quick to not let that happen. So now the negatives (these are just things you should know beforehand): They prefer to not take checks. Yes, on their website it says checks emphatically, but they either didn't want to take one from me or they don't like taking them, period. I'll assume the latter. They do take credit cards (one note, Tyler did work with me on this in a positive way). Also, they wanted half the payment in advance. While I do not disagree with this practice, most people who are moving are not carrying a ton of cash on them. It's just too easy to lose money that way. If I were Precision Packing, I would have listed their "pay half up front" policy on their website. These students handled my decent sized moving project with professionalism and I felt I made a good choice with Precision Packing. I recommend them for your big moving day.
