Great place for unique plants and wandering the property is relaxing. They don't always have the largest inventory but what you find is enough. I'm going back for some landscaping mulch for a part of my property that faces the cul de sac . They're all so nice and deliver locally. I just switched all of my business to Brentwood Decorative Rock. I just got fed up with the condescending attitude at the counter from the rude employees and the non-existent help in the yard. I don't like standing around, waiting for someone to decide to help. I'm finding that the prices at Brentwood Rock are much cheaper and the service is excellent. BUYER BEWARE! As a business owner myself, I'm usually hesitant to give a bad review. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we can't do everything right. The product or service has to be truly AWFUL before I write a public bad review. Well, Morgan's in Antioch qualifies for TRULY AWFUL! First, we had a devil of a time getting help to begin with. When we finally chased down some guy sitting on an empty forklift, we bought $3100 worth of Rams Head Gold flagstone pavers (7,000 lbs) to match pavers we bought here 5 years ago. When our contractor laid out the patio, he found about 20% of the stones were not useable. They were very thin -- about half the thickness of the usable ones--and could only be used if set in concrete. This is about $600 worth of material. Despite their "refund" policy printed on the invoice, they refused to take these stones back even though our contractor was willing to deliver them. Their reason? "We got crap from our supplier and you picked out the stones." Well, we didn't select each individual stone in the 7,000 pounds. But, since the policy was to accept returns for "useable" material, they refuse to make good on the product even though they sold us crap. "Buyer beware." We went back and forth with Morgans and manufacture of the stone (to finally get refund). Morgan will not stand behind the product that they sell. Purchased materials for pavers and was not impressed with their customer service. The male at the counter seemed stressed and disinterested. Adding to the unpleasant experience, was being told my purchase is non-refunded with a stamp on invoice stating 'NO RETURNS, NO CREDIT and NO EXCHANGES' then instructed to go the yard for pick up. Walking around the yard, I couldn't find anyone for assistance to load so I waited by a depot filled with bags. After waiting for 8-10 min, I decided to walk around again and found an employee sitting inside a lift on his cellphone. Wasn't sure if on his break but asked him for assistance. He seemed bothered I disturbed him, had little words to say and was also disinterested. For my first time here, it was not a unpleasant experience thus will try another landscaping business elsewhere for future garden or landscaping needs. read more

Service wasn't that great. I called before I arrived to ask if they had aloe Vera plants. I was told that they did.. when I asked the young lady behind the counter (yadira) about the plants, she pointed to where they were and proceeded to continue helping the customer whom she had been helping when I walked in. I then saw no plants that said aloe Vera, only aloe rose safari plants and was unsure if that plant would work for what I needed for. I asked yadira if they were the same and she said she thought so; she was a really sweet lady just didn't seem to be much help or knowledgeable in the for this business. read more

2 stars for the gentleman that helped us pick out our pavers and explained to us exactly what we needed for our project. -3 stars for the past three interactions we've had with Sylvia; once in person and twice over the phone. Bottom line, she should NOT be customer service. She's freakin' rude! She barely had answers for us when we were trying to get pricing for the product we wanted. She kept telling us to wait until the estimate was ready. We could tell she really didn't know her stuff. She kept guessing answers, I could tell. We left with a bad taste in our mouth and didn't order based on her attitude and unwilling to help us. A few days past and we call to place the order after suggesting she was just having a bad day. My husband called and she was again RUDE and unhelpful. He had to snap on her and she put him on hold. After picking up again she was super nice (no-polar much?) He ordered and got a delivery date for Saturday. Saturday 8 am comes and we know that's when they open. He calls shortly after they open to ask when the delivery would be arriving (time frame). She said multiple times 'we just opened so I don't know'. ok? If you don't know put me on hold and FIND OUT! ... she has undoubtedly left a bad taste in my mouth and we will never order from them again. read more

We purchased thousands of dollars worth of materials to do our backyard. The final order we placed was for sod. I had a lengthy conversation over the phone explaining how big the space was and how many rolls I would need. She obviously wasn't paying attention and had no problem solving ideas to rectify their mistake. Apparently they don't need your business that bad. The first rule in customer recovery is admitting you clearly misunderstood, not that I'm a liar. When approached about the mistake the tone took a turn for the extremely rude. I think the people there were nice. Kind and helpful. And made great recommendations on stuff. We asked for suggestions on local contractors. We are believers in small businesses and stay to local help. My challenge lays here; their recommendation on a contractor/Landscaper to complete our backyard. The fellow seemed nice when he arrived. Options sounded reasonable with the sample pictures on what to expect. So we setup the deal. They were quick, at the house and were done within a week and a half. We paid as promised. When we paid we asked for our receipt. He said he'd bring it the next day. Next day came and went. Month or more has now come and gone. Just to mention, the sprinkler system leaked the next day and the watering system doesn't work well in the planters. After multiple attempts to reach the contractor and a lengthy wait the sprinkler system leak was fixed. Not so much. Still leaking and still no receipt. I am hoping the one star will get everyone involved to help us get what we paid for completed fairly. Maybe we could even get our receipt too. read more

We bought some rock here and were charged $85.00 to deliver it 3.5 miles to our house. We also paid a premium price of $.09 cents a pound. When the rock was delivered it was the right poundage but not the rock we ordered. They told us to bring it back and then they would deliver the right rock immediately. When we returned to rock they then changed the story as to when it would be delivered and were very rude to us. We cancelled the order, and went to Brentwood Decorative rock where we bought the same type of rock for the same weight for $.07 cents a pound and had it delivered within 15 minutes for a charge of $45.00. Don't go to Morgans, they are uncooperative,rude and well over priced. read more

We ordered some dirt this summer and when we started to spread it over the lawn, it's become evident that the dirt was of very poor quality. There were big chunks of clay, some broken up pieces of brick and stones. We have ordered dirt for our raised beds a few years before and there were no problems. We love supporting local businesses and have gone to Morgan's multiple times in the past. So I called the manager, to let them be aware of the issue, nothing more. Spoke to Jose, who pretty much dismissed me. He offered for me to come over and look at their dirt and that it is of fine quality. Well Jose, thanks for calling me a liar, you are welcome to come and see the trash you sent me. I don't know if we got scrapings from the bottom of the pile, or if the delivery truck contaminated the soil with other garbage, but I'm very displeased. Mostly in how my concern was completely dismissed. Makes sense why you have such low rating on Yelp. Giving 2 starts instead of 1 only because we have been pleased in the past. read more

Rude and Unhelpful is right! We came in, telling the guy behind the counter we are redoing the entire back yard. We had picked out a certain stone, and had asked him to pull up how much it costs. I had said that our gardnener sent us there. He gets behind a computer and is silent the entire time. Then asks if the gardener will pick it up. So naturally, i am thinking he's starting to order. I said "i'd like to know how much it costs". His response "that's what i'm doing right now". AHM. OK. He tells us the price, without even a "thanks", or "would you like help picking out some plants for your remodel"...nothing! So we walk outside.. It's a nicely landscape nursery, but missing large trees and a whole lot of stuff we needed. Overall, I would never come here again. Everyone in the office was very polite and their prices were great. The guy who helped me load it up was friendly and I was in and out of there in less than 45 minutes to load 150 sq ft of pavers. After a frustrating search of the area, including big box stores, I found my plants at Morgan's. The help, was knowledgable, and very helpful. The nursery was pleasant and well cared for. When I am too lazy to do the math, or if I just want them to double check my math (I don't want to order 40 cubic yards if I only need 4), they are more than willing to crank the numbers for me. Went to Morgan's looking for 'pretty plants' because THAT is the extent of my gardening knowledge. Within a few minutes, we had a wonderful lady (I think her name is Kathleen?) offer to help us and guide us in the right direction given our full sun exposure and what we were wanting to accomplish. She was friendly and very knowledgeable and having taken her advice, our front yard is looking beautiful. I saw a bad review regarding the guys that operate the desk. When we checked out, the man was handling the phones and customers and even though he was super busy, he was VERY nice. I think their customer service is great! read more

I have been going to Morgans for years now. I've never had a problem with the staff helping me with the flowers and trees I have purchased. I do have problems with the guys behind the desks. Every once in a while you do get someone that is really helpful behind the desk but for the most the guys do have an attitude. One guy in particular makes me feel stupid sometimes but since I have been going on weekdays now I no longer see him. I would have given them a 5 star rating if it wasn't for this issue. I also wish they were open on Sundays but I understand why they stopped. The staff would promise to come in to work and not show up so they decided to stop opening on Sundays. I started my spring planting today which started with a trip to Morgan's Garden Center. First, this is my favorite place to buy plants,, trees and shrubs. I have visited other local nursery's, but I always return to Morgan's. Kathleen is the best! I seek her out and she never fails to lead me to exactly what I am looking for and helps me stay away from things that won't work (both style wise and yard soil condition of my yard). The knowledge she has is second to none in this area! Thanks Kathleen for all the advice the past several years! I also get my bark and moss rock here as well. It is nice to be known by name and greeted when I arrive. Ron and Jose and their staff have always been friendly and helpful to me. I am a repeat customer and probably make 7-8 visits a year the past 6-7 years and can say that I have never had a bad experience in all that time. I had a rather unpleasant experience with Morgan's. In ordering supplies for a home project, they took 5 weeks to obtain the material (reason given is they don't order till they have a full load from their supplier). Material ordered was river rock flats and corners for a wall and mailbox post. Upon arrival at Morgan's, I picked up the material, and since it was easier to have it loaded on a pallet rather than load boxes by hand, I opted to pay a $17.00 deposit for the pallet. Upon returning the pallet, Morgan's only wanted to return $15.00 of the $17.00 deposit. I objected, and upon their refusal called the police to file a report prior to taking small claims action. When the police arrived, one of the employees then gave me the correct amount. Reason given for the $2.00 charge was to offset their charge in acquiring the pallet. My position, they were ripping me off. If they rent the pallet to 9 people at 2 dollars each, that's $18.00 which means we bought the pallet for them, and any additional use was profit to them. It was only a small matter, and a small amount, but if they are willing to fleece you for $2.00, then watch out for other charges. Every other home and garden center I have done business with has always refunded the entire deposit, and some actually trusted me enough to bring the pallet back that they didn't charge a deposit. I subsequently discovered that the material I purchased could have been obtained at other local centers for a lower price. Although the personnel were friendly, their business practice is not. I would not recommend them. read more
