Muay Thai shin pads

Brought in my, Muay Thai shin pads to get the straps re-done. Although they have never done this before, they did a fantastic, quality job prices are fair and quality is superb.

I had been meaning to get my Frye boots resoled for a long time, so when I discovered that Resole America, the official resoler, is actually local to me, I decided to bring my boots directly to the shop last week, rather than mailing them in (which is an option). The lady who received them was polite and helpful, and gave me an estimate of when they'd be ready. I got a phone call about a week later, saying that they were ready for pickup. The same lady who received them last week actually remembered me, and had my boots ready. They have brand new, quality soles, and as a bonus, they were nicely shined up! I will be using this company for all future shoe repairs.

Made in Italy Vasque Sundowner II's, I'm not sure how long I've had them....

I had almost given up on my boots. Even our local cobbler in Idaho said they couldn't be repaired. I emailed Edwin some pics, and he said "No problem". I was definitely skeptical. But holy smokes did they do a great job!!! Thank you Resole America!

Services provided and rates as of winter 2016.

It is a sad sign of lost times when a once reputable company like Frye not only churns out lackluster China-made boots, but also partners with a cobbler as unqualified as Resole America to repair their flawed products. After my Jenny Double boots started to disintegrate on me (after less than 10 wears), Frye not only refused to cover my repair under warranty, they then sent me to Resole America under the guise that they were the only certified Frye cobbler in the US. This is laughable. While I only spent $25 out of pocket to "repair" discolored leather and peeling heels (on boots purchased via Nordstrom under the description of being "stacked leather" -- to which Frye said they were not responsible for retailer errors in description), I received the boots back only to wear them out *once* and have the heels peel on me yet again. It baffles me that this would constitute quality work. I give an extra star because I appreciate the effort Resole America took to keep in contact with me, update me on the repair of my boots, and confirm the charges to my card before processing. I feel that this is an honest company, but not at all talented in their field of shoe repair, and regardless of quality service I will not be using them again.

This is within only a few wears of them being resoled - Soft leather picks up all sorts of pebbles/small objects.

I went with Resole America as they were the company that Frye recommended for resoling their boots. My boots came back looking good, but unfortunately the cons outweighed the pros. Pros: Boots came back looking good: the boots' soles looked pretty similar to how they looked when I bought them (although the textured leather insert was replaced with a smooth one which made the shoes much more slippery) Shipping: A little pricey, but the convenience of being able to print a shipping label as part of the online ordering was appreciated Cons: Very poor communication: - After shipping my boots around Christmas, they were not actually delivered until Jan 3rd even though they arrived well before that as the entire company is closed the week after Christmas (this is fine, but was not communicated and I would have waited to send in my boots). - I only knew they were delivered by using the tracking number, there wasn't any confirmation of receipt, confirming the work to be done, estimated timeline, status update on their site or return shipping notice/tracking number. Length of Time: The website said they will do the work and return to you in 5-10 business days, but it took close to a month to get my boots back. Even then it took calling them after a month w/o any word from them to be informed they would ship later that day (coincidence?) Quality of Leather: This is the big one for me as everything else I could deal with, but on both of my shoes the leather that they used on the toe area and the heel is so soft, that small stones, pebbles, asphalt, etc embed themselves into the leather turning my shoes into industrial strength sand paper. I have only worn the boots a few times since they were resoled and the leather is covered in shrapnel (see pictures) to the point where I can not walk in my own home for fear of destroying my flooring. This is not an issue that I had with these shoes before being resoled or with any other leather soled shoe that I have owned. This is very disappointing.

A new boot (with factory sole) on the right.  A re-sole on the left from Resole America.  Hope the picture comes through okay!

Well, as my last update stated, I expected to get my boots today and I finally did! I am also still keeping the rating at two stars for a few reasons. Obviously minus one (or two) for the customer service throughout this process. While the boots still fit and the soles seems to be exact original replacements, there is some extra bits of glue here and there and a couple of spots where the soles were pressed too hard (I'll try to add a picture of that). It also seems that they may have tried to buff the worn leather with some old polish as the leather now feels a bit sticky all over and instead of places where there were deep scuffs, there are now lumpy masses of sticky leather. Overall, I'm glad that my boots have new soles on them that seem like they are more or less properly attached. But in the future, I think I'll just purchase some urethane glue (the type that is used on soles like this) and do this myself. I doubt that I'll send my boots to Resole America again. The process was way too long, the work is not all that great, and they have almost no customer service.

The boots look great, to my surprise the soles were like the original Zamberlan soles.
