This is a good hotel if your doing long term stay. The room was huge. Like a private studio. I had a full size fridge, 2 burners a micro and even a dish washer. The TV swivels so you can watch on the little kitchen island, the couch and the bed. The free breakfast and free parking is a HUGE perk here. The breakfast isn't just a continental breakfast. They have eggs, breakfast meats, a waffle machine cereal oatmeal fruits and yogurt. Coffee and juice as well. One large issue I have with this hotel is the smell. It's smells like old wet dog or old clothes and very musty. My perfume would only mask it for a short time but every time I came into the room it was very strong. During a few days of my stay the door into our area the lock stopped working so they propped it open with a rock. Idk how that affects the safety as then people who didn't have a room in that building could now easily access the area. Not a bad hotel tho. A few little fixes and they could get higher ratings.

My coworker has stayed here when he visiting so I decided to stay here as well. It was a great choice. There are great places to eat in walking distance and is close to the airport but not so much that you get that noise. The room was super huge with kitchenette and a very comfortable bed. The service at the lobby was very fast and professional. The breakfast was amazing. We had just been back east for a long weekend/mini vacation and it was a waffle, bread and cereal was all they had. This place had an impressive spread. Everything was clean, from the room, hallways, lobbies, etc. It was a great stay for the price.

Updating my review for the following: The hotel did reach out to us twice during our short stay to check on our visit. +1 star for being proactive even though we didn't complain (maybe they saw my review). The shower water was nice and hot and the water pressure was superb. A hot shower and great water pressure can make a difference so that is definitely a plus. One more negative is that the entire floor we were on smelled heavily of weed. It was so strong it carried into our room through the ventilation. Not the hotel's fault but it was bothersome (allergies & asthma) and they need to enforce a no smoking policy or have a designated area for those that want herbal refreshment. Normally it wouldn't bother me but something about this variety was intense.

A pretty standard experience, but slightly better than average. Being PLATINUM Rewards, I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite....too bad we were only here for one night...lol. This property offers desserts several nights a week, and on the night we were here, I got to satisfy my sweet tooth with various cheesecakes and chocolate chip cookies. Then for breakfast, they offer the usual fare including greek style yogurt and fresh fruit. Another plus. We like Marriott hospitality and this was no exception.

    Nice hot...sitdown breakfast.

This is a real nice hotel...extended stay if you prefer. I've stayed here all week, uneventful...no problems. The complex consists of 3 buildings...all require pass key to enter. I like that. The grounds are well maintained, fenced (tastefully done), and the pool/spa area is real cool, plus there is a gas BBQ which many folks have been using this week...!!! The pool is really nice, not overly large, but cool and clean. It is not over bearing with chemicals...thank goodness. There is a fitness room and it is equipped with some good cardio equipment plus weights and a stationary bicycle. The room however is quite small and cramped...I felt in need of "more air". While my suite had a full kitchen and dining room, I did go enjoy the complementary breakfast one morning. It was tasty and the selections were plenty. My suite was very nice, warm and inviting, and very comfortable. My bed was perfect, as were all six pillows. A real good sleep here...!!! I have no real complaints, and will stay here on my next business trip to Phoenix. Why not 5 stars? I don't really have any answer, except it must be "exceptional" and earned...they are almost there, just not yet.

This is the email I received from Marriott Residence Inn one day before Marriott replies to my this yelp post!

Do yourself/family a favor and STAY AWAY from this hotel especuallif you value your PERSONAL ITEMS and YOUR SAFETY! My main issue: I checked out on Sunday after a five day stay @ Residence Inn Mesa, Az. I realized almost immediately I left my own pots and pans in the dishwasher. While in route home (same day) I called hotel to inform them. I'm thinking this would be easy-peasy! WRONGI I spent a week making calls/leaving messages with the front desk staff. Left 3 voicemails for Manager "Lorena" filed. a complaint with Marriott Corporate and sent an email to "the person in charge" a week later get an email response " from Manager Lorena stating: your items haven't been found". So....Someone on their staff stole my new set of Curtis Stone pots/pans/lid from the dishwasher in my room. Also, day one of check in I had to call Re: toilet not flushing. While waiting on maintenance I walked to main lobby (hotel entrance) to use facility's. The fourth evening same problem with toilet, although when I walked to main entrance around @11:30 pm all doors to entrance were shut down - my key card wouldn't work- even on gym side. I pressed the intercom button on exterior of entrance....waiting....10 minutes later...The gentleman working that evening proceeds to tell me he had some rowdy guest so he decides to lock down the main entrance! What about my safety? The Safety of your other guest? I wouldn't be out of my room if my toilet was working. Very disappointed in the Marriott staff at this hotel, I will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. If you value your items and your safety STAY AWAY! 7/17/2018- Issues never resolved. Items never replaced- no points offered. My items were taken from my dishwasher in my room, with no action by management @residenceinn Mesa,Az. Or Marriott International. Disappointed Platinum Elite Member!

I've stayed in many extended stay Marriot Hotels. So far this one is our least favorite. The was a dirty sock in our room, and a nasty stain on the side of the mattress. Usually Marriotts have a good breakfast variety. This one didn't have much to choose from, and their pineapple was completely brown. The coffee pot in the room didn't work correctly, and there is no flavored creamer here or complimentary water like there is at many other Marriotts.

My son flipped when he got in the shower....Relax, it is not .... it is just rust that looks like .... just lovely

Friendly staff, good breakfast for a short stay - they each get a star! We were given the ground floor room at the very end of the hall. The hall smelled and the room was old and not a large suite that others mentioned. Maybe this was the smallest 1 bd they have. They were sold out, no option to get another room. They charge $8.45 "bed tax" /night and of course city tax and state tax , total $193/night for a room not worth it. Rusty smudges in the shower that look like poop and sleeper sofa big enough for 2 kids max 12 years old with spring poking your back whole night. Really, Marriott? I am your reward member but paid for my room with money, not points and expected way better. Cashing out big time on Spring Training.....Will not be coming back here......shame

The location was easy to find and conveniently located near a center with various restaurants, a grocery store, and entertainment options too. We were in town for a soccer tournament and this room worked perfect as it was myself and my spouse and our son who stayed on the pull out sofa bed. We had a short stay however I can see with the kitchen amenities it would be nice for longer stays. The outdoor seating was nice and the soccer players made themselves comfortable there at night. The pool area was nice and had nice views of the golf course next door. When I mention a couple snags - the shower was very nice it had both the waterfall over head option as well as a standard hand held shower head. There was some gross build up on the face of the shower head. When we were nearing the area from our Southern California drive we called and asked about early check in options and they advised to check back around 11a-12p. When we got there it was within that window and they seemed rather irritated about this ask. They noted that our room was being sanitized and would take up to an hour. They had a nice seating area in the entrance lounge space so we sat there. We took in the beverage station which was a great option, however we waited about an hour and a half before we finally began to ask for updates. The manager seemed over upset that we had been advised about early check in options. It all worked out and we got in a little earlier than standard check in. The next morning the breakfast was nice and there was various options beyond the prototypical continental breakfast.

We got a handicap room, which was surprising. Be aware the bench in the bathtub needs to be down when you have littles, it could do some damage to them if it's pulled down by them. This particular La Quinta is not maintained as well as all others we've stayed in; elevators broken, the elevator that does work sounds rough, graffiti sanded off the inside of the elevator door, caulking separating in the bathroom, toothpaste on bathroom walls, pink mold around the tub, lamp bulbs burnt out, spa not working etc. Ice machines are on floors 3, 5 and 7. Laundry is only on the 3rd floor, 1 washer and 1 dryer for the entire building. Bring your own detergent and dryer sheets. Breakfast was decent, though the setup of the equipment causes people to stand needlessly in the way (waffle machines block the bagels, bread slices, toaster and plasticware). There has been a particular patron that talks to herself while walking around the hotel and at breakfast, our last morning before checkout, a very loud conversation on the phone dropping f bombs in front of small children and a room full of other patrons. It was brought to the attention of the front desk employees and several other patrons have mentioned it to them but she was allowed to carry on in this particular moment. Are you housing homeless La Quinta of Mesa? This is something I would be interested in knowing before I booked reservations. Keep it classy Phoenix.

The bathroom had communal soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There was a note on the sink stating that other toiletries were also available upon request. I wished there was more toilet paper was included as there was only one extra roll. There was a sufficient number of towels for the sink and shower. However, I found the shower to be difficult to start as the shower pin was stuck. The shower knob was also labeled backwards as the "H" was on the side of cold water instead of hot. The bed and pillows were soft and supported. The bedsheets were clean but could have been thicker. I enjoyed the easy access to outlets and lighting from the convenience of my bed. The TV was large and there was a decent number of channels available. Breakfast was simple yet executed well. The omelets were light and fluffy. I booked through Booking.com with a "pay at the property" option. However, one night was charged to my account prior to arrival, which was unexpected and confusing. At check-in, there were issues with my payment method. The front desk told me they "only accept real bank cards" in reference to my SoFi card. This was surprising and came across as dismissive, especially since it is a legitimate bank card and had already been successfully charged prior to arrival. After asking me to wait, I was then told the card had declined, which did not appear to be the case. We offered an alternative card, but were told that was not an option. The situation felt inconsistent and could have been handled with clearer communication and more flexibility. Additionally, on the morning of checkout (11:00 AM), we stepped out briefly and returned at 8:45 AM to find that our room keys had already been deactivated. When we asked about it, we were told it was because we were checking out that day, even though it was still well before checkout time. This created unnecessary inconvenience. Overall, the main issue was not just the policies, but how they were communicated. A more professional and guest-focused approach would have made a significant difference. We hope the hotel can review these processes, as the property itself has potential. With improvements in service and communication, the experience could better reflect what we experienced during our first stay.
