Whatever good things that might exist about this hotel are undone by 1 massive factor: the walls are so thin they may as well not be there at all. Some make this complaint because they can hear muffled talking next door at other hotels. Here, it may as well be no wall at all. Without hyperbole, this is the worst I've ever experienced. I could hear my neighbors talking as clear as day - as though they were in the room with me. It immediately felt like I had no privacy. That's enough on its own to never come back here again. Besides this, the room smelled heavily of cleaning products when I came in, the paint was peeling in the bathroom I stayed in and the shower head and faucet were loose. Also - I think my laptop has a bigger screen than the room TV. But it all worked fine. The room itself was clean, the staff was nice enough and they did have a pool and jacuzzi on site. If the room were more soundproof I'd happily give it a 3 or maybe even 4 out of 5 star rating as a business hotel or a place for travel where you need a clean comfy bed to sleep in (my bed was actually quite comfortable as well). But the paper thin walls are a deal breaker. That Priceline categorized this spot as a 4 star hotel next to Hilton, Hyatt, or Westin is baffling. read more

My Mother-In-Law is a member of VI Resorts. Westgate properties are now available through her timeshare, so we decided to spend a few days in AZ for golf & Spring Training Baseball. The floors in the room were filthy. After a few minutes walking around without shoes on, all 3 of us had black, dirty soles of our feet. Later that evening, I went to open a bottle of wine, but there was no wine opener in the drawer. I called the front desk, & they said they do not provide them, but I could purchase one from the office. I've been to dozens of VI properties & they all provide a wine opener...does Westgate need the money so badly that they need to sell them from the office, instead of providing a $3 one in each room? The kicker though, was while checking out, we pulled up to the closest parking space to the office (Mom is handicapped so we always park close). After dropping off the key cards, we started to pull away & heard a loud cracking noise. There was a piece of rebar sticking up about 3 inches from the parking block that had slid under our bumper & ripped off half of the front passenger side bumper. The management & maintenance folks all came out & apologized for the poor maintenance, placed hazard cones in the offending parking space, took photos, filled out a report, etc. 2 days later, Westgate's "risk management department" representative, Deborah Perez, replied to our insurance representative that Westgate, per their parking permit verbiage, is not responsible for any damage done to our vehicle. We are not talking about damage done by another vehicle or vandalism...this was caused by Westgate's poor maintenance of their lot. Unbelievable! Horrible customer service. Good location and a comfortable bed are the only reason this place is getting two stars. The room was so dirty, and my bathroom had bugs all over it. The walls were so thin, I could hear specific conversations of the people next-door. I wish I had read the reviews on Yelp before booking this place... The staff was very friendly and helpful! The rooms were also very comfortable and spacious. There are some dated appliances and kitchenware but not a show stopper. We loved the spacious bathroom and showers. There are enough amenities and we used the community BBQ grill and fire pit a lot. We recently stayed at the Westgate Painted Mountain Resort from Friday, 12/5 through 12/12. We made our reservation through Interval International and received our confirmation in January 2025. When we arrived at the resort, the resort staff did not see our reservation. They told us we needed to take up our concern with Interval International. We went to get something to eat since we had been up since very early that morning traveling from the east coast to Pheonix. I called Interval International and they said everything was done correctly and asked for an email or fax number for the resort and they would send over the confirmation again. When we called the resort, it was difficult to get to a real person. When we finally did, we were told they couldn't take the information from Interval International through an email or fax. By this time, I was frustrated. I went back to the resort and knocked on the office door to talk to somebody who could get this all figured out. I talked to a manager who looked at my confirmation and talked to the Interval International representative and said he would take care of it and make sure we got a room. When we did finally get a room, I was really disappointed with the quality of the furnishings. The cabinets were covered with a woodgrain vinyl adhesive covering that was peeling off. The chairs were cracking and splitting, showing the foam inside. The furniture was old and dirty looking. The accommodations were old and tattered. We received a text early in our stay asking if we were happy and I responded - No. I explained the fiasco we had when we registered and about the accommodations. They apologized but not one came by to check our room or offer us better accommodations. The absolute worst part was that there were bugs (roaches) in the bathroom, kitchen and living room. I complained twice and asked for the rooms to be exterminated which they did but the bugs continued every day. On Wednesday, a salesperson called to schedule a sales meeting, and I told him how disappointed and unsatisfied I was. He apologized but he didn't do anything. With every complaint I made and every problem we encountered, the staff apologized but no one ever offered us a better room. No one ever offered anything to even try to compensate us for the poor experience and unacceptable accommodations. On Thursday, the day before we check out, when my husband was using the grill (for the third time) and talking to another person staying here, we find out that grill equipment was available from the front desk. We were never told this. We never received any explanation of what was available at the resort. There were not any events or activities through the week. I attempted to take a whirlpool bath in my room on Thursday. After filling the tub, the whirlpool didn't work. This has been the absolute worst resort experience I have ever encountered. read more

Initial room was missing planks from the floor, the kitchen look like it was in a war zone, and the mattress looked like it was passed around at a local fraternity. Amenities are extremely outdated. Facilities is barely clean. I would never, even think that Westgate would continue to promote a facility and still keep the name of "Westgate" associated with it. My husband and I arrived at 7pm tired and looking forward to soaking in the hot tub only to be told our room wasn't ready and they didn't know what time it would be ready. We had noticed a lobby full of upset customers with the same issue. The manager was very unprofessional and I actually felt sorry for his staff because he left them to explain that they couldn't do anything for us. I called the third party I used to cancel and get a full refund when they called the hotel they were told there was no manager on duty to approve the cancellation. I was standing in front of them and demanded they call the manager to the lobby and asked the third party representative to call back so they could reimburse me that night. The staff was extraordinary here. This was by far one of my favorite hotels we stayed at. Rooms were newly remodeled, clean, comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom, great floors, and a good mini bar/kitchen set up. The amenities here were unlike any other, being able to play pickle ball, basketball, then a salt water pool and a jacuzzi. Literally a perfect stay. My family and I stayed at this particular resort because we have a timeshare and wanted to go to Arizona. I've never been here in this state before. So I wanted to give it a try. We stayed there from Sat July 15 - Sat July 22. Mesa, AZ is about an hour away from Phoenix and about 20-30 from Tucson and Goodyear. I am appalled at this particular hotel, the location and the overall experience. Westgate you should be ashamed of yourself. This Hotel looks nothing like the pictures you posted on your website. The hotel looks like a motel 6 and you changed the name. If you view two pictures of how the dishwasher and floor is disgusting. My feet and socks were dirty the first day. I literally had to clean the tub, dishwasher, toilets because I don't trust the person who cleaned it before. And to top it off, on my sons birthday we celebrated on Thursday July 20th and just after we had our bath and sung happy birthday to him the power throughout the hotel completely went off. The entire neighborhood was completely dark. We were not sure what happened and when we called on our cellphone to ask the manager, he stated that he was looking into it. I completely understand that it was really hot in Arizona for over 18 days and more now with over 100 degrees outside temperatures. But when you have a outage like this, it becomes very serious! Someone at this resort could be on oxygen and no back up generator installed. This hotel WILL have a lawsuit against them and WILL lose. This is very ignorant. Lights eventually came back on after 2 hours. This is the most inappropriate and disturbing thing about this resort that I will be reporting and commenting on Westgate website. It's been a repetitive thing also every time I use the heater there is a distinctive smell that comes out the vent and set the fire alarm off which is very annoying. My husband was not allowed to check in for us despite having my ID and credit card so I had to come in to fill out paperwork when I was sick from my flight. My reservation was for a villa with a tub with jets, my room only had a shower no tub. The room also stated it would have a balcony which it did not, the room had a table and chairs outside the front door by the sidewalk. The room also smelled very old and stale. I guess I did not read the fine print and was shocked to see a charge of $103 for late arrival: I was flying from out of state and would have never booked if I knew I had to check in by a certain time. I understand a charge to check in early but charging because I used the room less is preposterous. Furniture is old and outdated. The dishwasher was rusting and falling apart. The clock was half an hour behind which caused us to be late in the morning. Way overpriced and incorrect room descriptions. Find somewhere else to stay. read more

Honestly if I could give this place a zero stars I would. Last year in 2023 my brother and sister in law booked this place for my nieces birthday. This year in 2024 they decided to do the same since our experience last year was great. Even though they had other options. For starters, the activity club was closed due to short staffing. Which would have been nice to know since my niece enjoyed all the activities last year we were excited to them again this year. Never mentioned in booking. But whatever we made it work, we told the office we would be hosting a few guest for a party and me and my son would be staying the night. They never mentioned I needed a parking pass, I did. So I was able to get one and not have my car towed since. Otherwise who knows what would have happened. Next, it is very outdated for the prices. The pull out bed was so thin, the kids did not sleep well on it at all. The couches were all ripped. And the jets in the tub didn't work, which we were looking forward to. Next, on Saturday the day of the party we all went down to the pool with the guests. All guests brought their personal belongings; wallets, sunglasses, clothes, vapes, etc. The "head" security guard has some kind of power trip. And reading other reviews it seems like its an ongoing issue. He deliberately came into the pool area to tell us no vaping, which we weren't. But in that time frame he made sure to wind all umbrellas down in the pool area on our side alone so he can watch cameras. When a guest of ours put a towel over his face to relax he came back again to tell us no vaping, which aga we weren't. Meanwhile in this time frame there was a group of people across from the pool with towels on their faces and vapes in their hands. Nothing was said to them until I raised an issue about it. Because again after a time he came back AGAIN to ask one of our guest if she had a parking pass, after she had already been in the pool area for AN HOUR. He was literally looking for excuses to pick a fight with us. I deliberately asked if ALL the other cars had parking passes, he said they are most likely employees who don't have their passes yet. I'm so sorry sir, the hosts of the party are in the pool so we haven't gotten this guest a pass YET. But we will I said, after that he still harassed us about vaping. Which we were not. A member of our party literally had to ask him to leave at this point because he just stood there over our shoulders yapping at us again and again and at this point we were just over it. Trying to pack up the kids and LEAVE! I don't know what this guy's issue was overall. I think he needs to be knocked down a few inches because he's on some high horse and likes to harass people. This hotel has a two-star rating at the time of writing this review and after staying two nights here, I think that is very well deserved. After my stay, I feel this place should be described to visitors as a safer motel option and not a resort in any sense of the word. There is also no room service or in-room dining which I was disappointed to find out. It's EXTREMELY OVERPRICED for what the experience is and what they offer. There are worse places to stay in the area, but I can't say in good confidence that we had a good experience here. The rooms are cramped, dark and over-filled with aging furniture and dingy amenities. It was not as clean as I would expect from a decent hotel and overall was not an inviting or relaxing space whatsoever. If you choose to say here, also be aware that there's an added charge for a late checkout, an added charge of $20 just to connect to the WiFi, and checkout time is at 10am instead of the standard 11 or 12. It felt like they look for opportunities to nickel and dime you for anything they can on top of their overpriced rates. They also claim to be pet friendly, but they have breed restrictions that they fail to disclose until tell you until you arrive and charge a non-refundable pet fee on top of an equally pricey pet deposit. I called front desk around 3:30 regarding items I left behind in a dresser drawer and was greeted by the same unfriendly, unhelpful person. My room was not clean! I found a bug crawling on my mattress sheet when I was getting ready to go to bed (next day they changed the sheets for me after I complained). They offered me another room, but I did not take it as I already settled in, and it was almost 10pm. I do not know for sure whether it was a bedbug. In addition, my bed looked like it was not changed from previous occupier, sheets were very wrinkled like someone just slept in that bed. The floor was very dirty (after an hour of being in that room, my feet were completely black!). And paid WiFi?! Seriously?? That's crazy. I liked their fitness center and the pool. This "resort" was the filthiest place I have ever stayed in ever. DO NOT STAY HERE. I would not call it a resort; it was a glorified motel. My mother reserved two rooms, a suite and an adjoining room. Shortly after arriving, I noticed that the bottom of my children's feet were black. It looked as though they had been running around outside for hours, only they had been running around the hotel for only a few minutes. We called the front desk to clean the floors. We were told they had this issue before. In my head I thought, "So then why is this still an issue?" A lady shortly arrived after to "clean" the floors. She poured cleaner on the floor and pushed it around with a worn out mop. I took a paper towel to the floor. It was still incredibly filthy. I started to look around. EVERYTHING was disgusting and worn down. The cabinet doors looked like they had never been clean. The bottom of the chair legs and table legs were covered in grime. There was an excessive amount of dirt and dust build up in every floor corner. There was dirt and stains all over the doors and light switches. The baseboards were visibly covered in dirt and dust. The whirlpool tub jets had never been cleaned - they were all covered in a thick layer of grime. The shower heads had never been cleaned. There was dust all over the end tables and lamps. There was broken glass in the kitchen. There was writing on the wall in one of the bathrooms. Holes and huge dents in the wall. We called the front desk again to discuss the issue. The reason given to us was obviously their go-to excuse for the filth they force their customers to endure. We were told that the cleaner they use draws out the dirt so that no matter how much they cleaned the floors, there would still be more dirt... But that doesn't explain the rest of the rooms filth. I decided that I would clean the room myself. We bought a 4 pack of Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, a large container of Lysol Wipes, a large pack of Wet Ones wipes, Swiffer Wet Jet sanitizing cleaner, a Swiffer Wet Jet steamer mop, 3 packs of 20-count Swiffer Wet Jet floor wipes, and a can of foaming Lysol bathroom spray. I ended up having to use ALL OF IT. It took me four and half hours to clean everything except for the tub jets in the adjoining room. At that point, I was exhausted and beyond angry. And, despite what they said, it was possible to get the floor clean. You would think that would be the end of the problems, but no. There was no hot water. I called them and they said that it had to do with there only being one water heater for both of the rooms we were in. If we wanted hot water, then we would have to wait 20 minutes after someone else showered. That they could not adjust the water heater because it would be too tedious. If this is a resort, then there should not be a shortage of hot water. But, I said okay. I then tried running a bath for my kids that night (before anyone else showered) and it was lukewarm at best. I called again and this time, was not satisfied with their excuse. They sent a man over to help. He told us that apparently, the water heater for the room was not big enough for the tub. He did manage to fix the issue though. Then, we noticed the ants. Then, the ceiling in the bathroom started to fall down (I took a photo of it, but by the end of stay, it was much worse than what was pictured). The oven in the kitchen reeked when we used it. Even the pool was in need of cleaning. My daughter lost her earring in the pool so my husband opened a vent to see if it may be in one. It was incredibly disgusting. We didn't bother looking in the rest. The jacuzzi water was lukewarm at best. The staff here was very polite, but that is the only redeeming quality about this place. It was very apparent it was not the staff at fault, but the policies they had to follow that were to blame. Whoever owns this "resort" should be ashamed of how they run this place. I will never stay here and I will tell everyone I can about this experience with Westgate. I just wished I had taken more photos to expose this motel for what it is. read more

For almost 200 dollars a night I would expect these things to be included. The floor was extremely sticky and I could hear the people in the next room listening to Fox news. Our second time visiting this resort abs this time we had 3 suites to accommodate our family for Christmas. The rooms accommodated our needs and it was great to have 2 suites up and down for running back and forth. On Christmas Eve, we grilled steaks on the resort grills, the staff was very helpful, making sure we had enough propane, etc. the Only issue we had was the hot tub water was barely even warm, so that was a disappointment. The hotel was nice and was in a good location for the event I attended. The problem I had with my stay was that I had a wedding ring stolen. I checked out of my room at 9am. I called the hotel at 9:45am to inform the staff that I left my wedding ring next to the sink and I was coming back to pick up my left behind item. I got back to the hotel at 10:00am and was informed my ring was not in the room. I informed them that my ring was left by the sink. The had security walk me to the room and the ring was indeed missing. I am 100% sure that the ring was left next to the sink. I even closed the drain to ensure it would not be lost down the drain. The drain was still closed, and the ring was missing. The security said no one was in the room except for the housekeeper I asked him to talk to the housekeeper, and also informed him that I'm aware of hotel operations because I work for the Gila River wild horse Pass, and said the houseman would have also been in the room. The security got the supervisor for the housekeepers and she claimed the ring wasnt in the sheets, i repeatedly stated the ring was never in any kind of linen. It was on the counter.... The security said he was going to do an investigation on the cameras and get back to me. I gave him my information. The security never got back to me.... I called the hotel and asked speak to a manager. left my information and the manager didn't get back to me. I called the hotel repeatedly on different days to finally get a manager. She said she was going to look into it and never got back to me. I called the hotel to talk to the general manager. They stated he wouldn't be there till Friday, but when i called Friday to discuss this entire situation he was no where to be found.... I left my information with the front desk because they said he was unavailable and he never got back to me. This has been a horrible experience. I've lost something very valuable to me. Im absolutely heartbroken... I feel like nobody at the hotel took me serious. No one wanted to listen to me or believe me. With no one getting back to me and no one can get me a manager to speak to i feel this has all been handled extremely unprofessionally! This hotel was nice.... Stayed at the resort for a week. The staff were fair - they could be a bit short sometimes. We were doing alright until our car got hit with a golf ball. We were parked in the resort parking lot adjacent to the golf course. Our windshield got smashed and needed to be replaced. Since it was a Friday afternoon, we had to get a rental for the weekend. After everything was taken care of ( our insurance company paid for the repairs etc.) we went to the company to get a refund for what we had to pay for the car rental - ( after the insurance company paid we are talking about $40.00!!). I'm not meaning to be petty. It's just the principle of the thing. Someone's golf ball ended up in our windshield and we are expected to cover everything!!! I think there can be some sharing of the expense. There are no signs in the parking warning people about possible damage due to errant golf balls!! Why don't they build a wall in this area to prevent the golf balls from hitting the cars?? They took our report and we waited three weeks just to have the risk management team tell us that they are not liable because the golf course is separate from them!! It has been most frustrating. The staff is nice. Other than that, this place is run down and dirty! Floors are sticky, bathroom tiles are cracked, the jets in the bath are moldy. We advised staff that the floors were filthy and got a "thank you, have a happy holiday". They've even left a courtesy plunger in the restroom, which, judging from everything else probably hasn't ever been disinfected. Unfortunately, you'll probably need to use it as well. The water pressure is barely enough to get small amounts of toilet paper down. This "resort" is definitely not 4 star worthy, as listed on hotels.com. If you have other options available in the Mesa area, take them. Took several photos of the room and property including a video I am unable to upload here of the chair sticking to the floor. I wish I could rate this property lower than one star. We booked a week through our timeshare exchange. The unit we were assigned to was absolutely unsanitary. The floor had toe nail clippings and food on the dinning chairs. The bathrooms were also disgusting with pubic hair all over the tubs and floors. We only stayed one night and relocated to a different property. The management person on duty had a nonchalant attitude towards our concerns and the condition of the rooms. Her response was that we are free to stay anywhere else. This was not a viable option after 18 plus hours of travel. In summary, this property is not fit for human occupancy. The state health department seriously need to do an unannounced inspection of this property. read more

My sink has not drained since I arrived five days ago. Today I had a cold shower. Due to covid, there is only housekeeping after one leaves yet for a one week stay, I received two days worth of towels, toilet paper, toiletries etc. I won't be back to this place. read more
